Chapter 102: Not like my mother

’Radulf left early in the morning and didn’t even talk to me. Is it because how I stopped him last night?’ Zenna thought while looking at the list in her hand.

"Luna, should I approve the list of the goods?" Pia asked humbly.

"Yes, do it," Zenna replied, handing back the list to her. "Where did Radulf leave early in the morning? Did he not say anything?"

Pia refused and shook her head. Before she could tell Zenna to relax, Nina’s voice came through, and they glanced in her direction.

"Zenna, is Radulf in the office or in the chamber?" Nina asked, looking quite cheerful.

"Radulf is not in the mansion. Did something happen? And why were you coming from outside?" Zenna inquired with curiosity. Pia excused herself to carry out the work, leaving the two ladies alone in the living room.

Nina sat across from her. "Zenna, I won’t be living here anymore," she revealed.

"What? Why? Is it because of the way I treat you?" Zenna questioned.

"How do you treat me, Zenna?" Nina mused. "You aren’t like the Luna Queen, who treated your mother cruelly. But then, I was never Radulf’s mistress, nor did he have his eyes on me," she proclaimed.

Zenna didn’t like the comment she made, but she kept quiet about it.

"The Luna Queen wants me to become the daughter-in-law of the royal family. Your brother, Crown Prince Leon, is my potential groom. Isn’t that great news? My father will come here soon since His Majesty already has sent a message for him," Nina explained, unable to hide her joy.

"That’s wonderful news," Zenna replied, genuinely happy for Nina. However, what bothered her was why Nina accepted that proposal. So far, she was inclined to Radulf. What was the real face of Nina? It truly confused Zenna.

"So, Zenna, you should be happy now that I’ll leave your husband’s sight forever," Nina pronounced.

"Nina, why are you blaming me as if I was the wrong person here?" Zenna finally snapped at her, not in a high tone, but she kept her tone stern. "You did attempt to sleep with Radulf. No matter what you say about it, how guilty you feel about it, as his mate and wife, it was unacceptable to me. And I am not like my mother. I have suffered a lot because of what she did, and I still undergo harsh treatment for that. I wished you understood me a little."

She angrily rose to her feet and turned to leave when she spotted Radulf. Zenna averted her gaze from him and went upstairs.

Nina chuckled and decided to leave too. However, Radulf’s piercing gaze fell upon her.

"Ah, you are back," Nina said, passing him a smile. She approached him and began, "I will leave for the palace in the evening. I don’t wish to stay here any longer, Radulf. The Luna Queen wants me to marry Crown Prince Leon, and I’m considering it."

"That’s great news. You should definitely leave for the palace," Radulf said, brushing past her.

"I thought you wanted me to stay by your side, Radulf. Earlier, you asked me not to go to the palace," Nina reminded him, which made Radulf halt.

"You are right, Nina. But what I heard earlier made me realize that I should not have stopped you. Also, it is good if you get married," Radulf remarked. "Savio, make sure Miss Harbinger doesn’t find any discomfort while leaving for the palace," he stated and walked away.

As he arrived outside Zenna’s chamber, he found the door was half-open. He followed her scent and stopped at the balcony. With quiet steps, he moved closer to Zenna, standing right behind her.

Taking out a small velvety box from inside his pocket, he opened it, not wanting Zenna to know he was right behind her. He took the gold hair clip with diamonds engraved on it and reached his hand to her hair to fix it.

Zenna jolted, feeling a familiar touch, and tilted her head. "Don’t move," Radulf said. He fixed the hair clip on the right side of her head, securing some of her hair in it. Moving in front of her, he checked its placement. "It looks perfect," he said.

Zenna touched the hair clip, and a small smile appeared on her lips. "Is it a present for me?"

"Hmm. You can check it in the mirror," Radulf replied.

"Thank you. I like the present," Zenna said.

"Already? You’ve not even seen it," Radulf stated.

"I like the presents you give me: big or small, it doesn’t matter," Zenna replied. Her mood was so off earlier, but his simple gesture brought a smile to her face again.

"Where did you leave early in the morning? You didn’t even speak to me and then left without breakfast," Zenna searched for the answer in his eyes.

"An important work, which I can’t share with you now," Radulf replied.

Zenna nodded in understanding. She lowered her eyes and said, "Nina has something to tell you. I wonder if you two already have talked or not. But if you haven’t, then you should go and see her."

Radulf suddenly kissed her, flustering her, and she raised her eyes.

"What was that?" she mused.

"Just a kiss," Radulf answered, smiling a little. "You are unique in your own way. I have never seen an omega staying strong despite the adversities she faced. I always treated omegas as nothing but weak. However, you have proven me wrong," he asserted.

Zenna was surprised because, in the past few days, Radulf had complimented her about every little thing. Was this the Radulf that many talked about around her?

"Those words mean a lot to me," Zenna replied. "Aren’t you hungry? I’ll ask the servants about the lunch," she said.

"I’m not hungry yet. I want to take you somewhere in the evening. Will you like to come with me?" Radulf asked.

"Where?"

"That’s a surprise, Princess," he answered.

"Sure," she replied promptly. "Radulf, I have a question for you. Don’t my pheromones affect you anymore?" Her eyes carried curiosity.

"They drive me wild. Your one touch is enough to make me lose my sanity. Many thoughts rush in my mind, and all I think about is the ways I want to have you," he pronounced, holding her gaze as if he was looking into her soul.
