The Bigshot Married Himself to the Heiress-Chapter 31 - 0: Separation
Chapter 31: Chapter 031: Separation
Floats and crowds of people suddenly surged from another street, and Adrian Desmond lost sight of Sienna Johnson. He was disguised as Uncle, an over three-hundred-pound fat man. Even though his disguise was padded with sponge, it made movement very inconvenient.
Adrian Desmond anxiously asked, "Patrick Morris, where’s Mai?"
"Miss Mai just ran out."
Adrian Desmond was furious. "She ran out, and none of you thought to keep an eye on her?"
Patrick Morris glanced up at Adrian Desmond without saying a word. In fact, he had noticed the change in Uncle but didn’t suspect the Uncle before him was fake. Patrick Morris attributed this abnormal behavior to Mai’s bewitching effect on Uncle. Therefore, he hoped more than anyone that Mai would disappear. Only when Mai disappeared could Uncle return to his former self.
"What are you still standing around for? Go find her!"
Patrick Morris sent only two men to search, leaving most of the bodyguards to protect Uncle. Adrian Desmond snapped, "All of you, go!"
"Uncle, our primary task is to ensure your safety before we can guarantee anyone else’s!" Their meaning was clear: they didn’t care whether Mai lived or died.
"Everyone, find her immediately! I’ll kill anyone who dares to defy my order!" Adrian Desmond pulled out his gun, his face fierce and determined. He looked as if he really would kill anyone who dared to defy him!
Seeing Uncle’s worried expression, Patrick Morris became even more anxious. He secretly resolved to take advantage of the chaos to kill Mai.
"Yes!"
Patrick Morris left only three men to guard Uncle and personally led the remaining bodyguards to pursue Mai. The street was too crowded; it was packed shoulder to shoulder, a sea of heads everywhere. Finding Mai was difficult enough, let alone moving through the throng.
Patrick Morris hadn’t wanted to search for Sienna Johnson in the first place, so not finding her wasn’t a bad outcome for him.
Adrian Desmond had a keen ability to read people and knew what Patrick Morris was thinking. Patrick Morris must have seen him, the fake Uncle, acting like a besotted fool over Mai and decided to use the chaos to get rid of her. Mai was his softest spot; Adrian Desmond himself couldn’t bear to lay a finger on her, so how could he allow anyone else to harm her?
Adrian Desmond wanted to find her himself. First, he needed to remove all the sponge padding from his disguise. "Why are you all still standing here? Didn’t you hear my order to find Mai?" He intended to shake off the few bodyguards tailing him.
"Uncle, our mission is to protect you!"
"How long have you been my bodyguard?" Adrian Desmond suddenly asked.
"Five years." The bodyguard didn’t understand why Uncle was asking.
"Five years. That’s long enough."
The bodyguard lowered his head and said respectfully, "It is my honor to be your bodyguard, Uncle. I swear to protect your safety with my life!"
Adrian Desmond smiled coldly. "Is that so? I think you’re tired of being a bodyguard and want my position!"
This was a charge of high treason. The bodyguard dared not admit it. If he did, how could Uncle tolerate someone with such disloyal thoughts living? "Uncle, I wouldn’t dare! Everything I said is from the heart!"
"You wouldn’t dare? I think you’re very daring! You even dare to defy my orders! People are always greedy and push their luck. This time, you dare to disobey my orders. Next time, you’ll dare to walk all over me! And the time after that, you’ll dare to kill me and take my place!" Adrian Desmond raised his foot, kicked the disobedient bodyguard, and cursed.
Cold sweat dripped down the bodyguard’s face. He didn’t know what was wrong, but lately, Uncle seemed like a completely different person, constantly emitting a murderous aura. Even he, accustomed to the stench of blood, was intimidated by Uncle.
"Uncle, we’ll go find her now!"
Adrian Desmond finally smiled. "Go, quickly! Report to me as soon as you have news!"
The bodyguard hesitated for a moment before asking, "Uncle, shouldn’t we leave at least one person with you?"
Adrian Desmond’s face turned cold. "You can all stay here then!"
This was clearly said in anger, meaning the opposite. Adrian Desmond didn’t bother arguing with them further and began to move his cumbersome body to search for Mai himself. He didn’t trust anyone; he wouldn’t be at ease until he found her personally. freeωebnovēl.c૦m
There were simply too many people. Adrian Desmond didn’t know what festival it was or why the streets had suddenly become so crowded. He was squeezed from all sides, almost flattened like a pancake. There were people everywhere, but his Mai was nowhere to be found.
Where was his Mai?
「...」
Sienna Johnson had initially gone to watch the excitement, but after squeezing into the crowd, she realized it was an acrobatics show.
When she was young, happy moments were few and far between. During festivals, acrobats would come to perform, and she and Drew Rafael would go hand in hand to watch the street shows. Sometimes, they would buy a single stick of candied hawthorns to share. The sweet and sour taste of the candied hawthorns was clearly imprinted in her memory.
"Bravo!"
The acrobat flipped more than twenty consecutive somersaults, eliciting cheers from the onlookers, and Sienna Johnson clapped along.
"Uncle, did you bring any money? Let’s give them a tip." Sienna Johnson turned her head but didn’t see Adrian Desmond. She stood on her tiptoes and looked around. A parade of floats had surged onto the street, packing it with people; Adrian Desmond’s figure was nowhere in sight.
Sienna Johnson’s mind raced. She didn’t react like Adrian Desmond, who would have immediately sent people to find her when he realized she was missing. Instead, she thought of escape. What a golden opportunity! If Sienna Johnson didn’t seize this chance, she’d be an idiot.
Having made up her mind, Sienna Johnson squeezed through the crowd. There were so many people that her hair was a mess. After much effort, she finally pushed her way out of the throng, panting heavily.
Looking at the unfamiliar streets around her, Sienna Johnson didn’t flee recklessly. Instead, she spotted someone who looked like a student and asked in English, "Excuse me, do you know how to get to the Orientan Embassy?"
She wasn’t foolish enough to run off on her own. She didn’t speak the language here, had no money, and would be helpless. Going to the Embassy and having the staff escort her back to Orienta was her best option.
"You’re Orientan?" The student-like young man spoke in the Orientan language. Sienna Johnson was overjoyed. "You speak Orientan?"
"Yes, my mother is Orientan. I’m an intern at the Orientan Embassy. I’m actually on my way there now. You can come with me."
After being stranded in this godforsaken place for five months, this was the first time Sienna Johnson had encountered an Orientan. Even though he was only half-Orientan by blood, she felt incredibly excited.
"Thank you."
"You’re welcome."
...
"My name is Stanley Faber. And yours?"
"Sienna Johnson!"
"Sienna? That’s a beautiful name."
"My father gave it to me."
Her original name at the orphanage, Belinda Rafael, had been very plain. Since her adoptive parents also had the surname Rafael, her name wasn’t changed after they adopted her. Only after her biological father found her and brought her back to the Johnson family was her name changed.
Sienna. Sienna Johnson!
