The Bigshot Married Himself to the Heiress-Chapter 32 - 0: Encountering Someone You Don’t Want to See
Chapter 32: Chapter 032: Encountering Someone You Don’t Want to See
They walked side by side, talking and laughing. Sienna Johnson was filled with immense happiness. She would soon be able to go home, reunite with her father and Teddy, and confront Frederick Stewart and Sabrina Johnson—that despicable couple.
Sienna couldn’t wait to take her revenge; she wouldn’t be Sienna Johnson if she didn’t!
"Sixth Sister-in-Law!" someone called out.
Sienna stiffened.
"Yes, Sixth Sister-in-Law!" another voice confirmed nearby.
Before Sienna made it to the Embassy, she ran into acquaintances: Little Ninth and Aaron Faber. How unlucky I am to run into them here, she thought.
Stanley Faber looked at Sienna and asked, "Sien—"
Seeing that Stanley was about to reveal her real name, Sienna quickly interrupted him. "Stanley, thank you," she said. "My family found me, so I have to go now."
With Little Ninth and Aaron Faber here, there was no way Sienna could escape, so she needed to keep her true identity hidden for now.
"Goodbye, Sien—"
Sienna cut him off. "Goodbye!" Worried that Stanley might reveal something more, Sienna jogged forward to meet Aaron and Little Ninth.
"Little Ninth, what are you doing here?" Sienna asked.
Little Ninth eyed the woman in the Ao Dai, her graceful demeanor and beautiful face. "Sister-in-law, you look so beautiful in Himakati clothes," he exclaimed.
Today, Sienna wore an Ao Dai. This one was also white, but with orchids embroidered on it, making it more delicate and feminine. In truth, when a person is beautiful, they look good in anything.
"Thank you."
"Sister-in-law, where is Sixth Brother?" Aaron asked.
Sienna frowned slightly and whispered, "I got separated from Sixth Brother, and I don’t know where he went. I was going to Uncle’s mansion to find him."
Little Ninth completely believed Sienna. "Sixth Sister-in-Law," he said, "since you finally managed to get out, don’t go to Uncle’s mansion. I’ll take you with me and have someone inform Sixth Brother to meet up with us later."
"...Is that alright?"
Little Ninth, thinking Sienna was worried about Adrian Desmond’s safety, laughed. "Don’t worry, my Sixth Brother is very powerful. No one at Uncle’s mansion can hold him back."
"Well, alright then." Sienna looked at the sky, her heart filled with frustration. I was just one step away! If I could just reach the Embassy, I could finally go home.
Five months, and I still haven’t escaped.
Sienna couldn’t help but curse Adrian Desmond’s ancestors for eight generations.
「...」
Just as Sienna and Little Ninth were crossing the Himakati border, Adrian Desmond caught up with them.
"Mai!" he called her name, his eyes filled with the joy of recovering what was lost. Sienna, in contrast, appeared overly calm.
"Hm."
He had already reverted to his usual appearance. He ran up to Sienna, examining her from head to toe. He wished he could strip her bare and check thoroughly for any injuries, but the situation didn’t permit it.
"You’re not hurt, are you?" Adrian asked.
Sienna shook her head. "No, I’m fine. What about you? How did you escape?" She saw that his arm was injured; blood stained his clothes, indicating a serious wound.
"Your arm is injured?"
"It’s nothing." Adrian had no time to tend to his arm. Uncle’s body had been discovered, and his own whereabouts were exposed. He figured pursuers would be on their trail soon.
"Sixth Brother, let me bandage your wound," Little Ninth offered.
"No need. We need to hurry. They’re almost on us."
Speak of the devil—Patrick Morris appeared, leading a large contingent. They had five military vehicles carrying over a hundred men, even bringing machine guns and mortars.
Xavier Young smiled bitterly. "Sixth Master, how on earth did you offend them? They look like they won’t stop until they’ve killed us all!"
"Uncle is dead. They’re just a motley crew," Adrian sneered.
He then instructed Maxwell Young, "Maxwell, go back and spread the news of Uncle’s death."
"They don’t know Uncle is dead?"
"If they knew Uncle was dead, they’d be too busy fighting for his position to chase me. I didn’t expect Patrick Morris to be so ambitious," Adrian said.
Little Ninth took advantage of the pause to quickly bandage Adrian’s wound. "Try not to get it wet. I’ll treat it properly when we get back."
"It won’t kill me!"
"Sixth Brother!" Little Ninth said, alarmed at how lightly Adrian was treating his injury.
"I know. I’m fine."
The rumbling of vehicle engines sounded deafeningly close. In the urgency of the moment, Adrian ordered everyone to hide in the perilous jungle.
"Sixth Master, there are too many of them. We should split up," Aaron suggested.
Aaron Faber, who had been holding a laptop, now brandished a PSG-1 sniper rifle. Within a range of 45 meters, it guaranteed that fifty bullets could be fired into the center of a baseball-sized target. It was highly lethal and unfailingly accurate.
"Mm."
Adrian looked at his twenty-odd men. Clustering together would make them easy targets for Patrick Morris. Splitting up would weaken their combat power, but it would also disperse Patrick’s forces.
Adrian quickly divided his men into eight teams of two or three, based on their combat abilities, and designated a rendezvous point. "Don’t engage them head-on. Just shake them off," he instructed.
Adrian and Sienna formed one team.
Walter Klein frowned deeply at this pairing. In Walter’s eyes, Sienna wasn’t just unhelpful to Adrian; she was a liability.
Unwilling to let Adrian take such a risk, Walter said, "Sixth Master, let Tatu team up with you. I’ll go with Xavier and Sister-in-law." Tatu was the most skilled among them, aside from Adrian himself. With Tatu by Adrian’s side, Walter would have fewer worries.
Adrian thought differently. How could he be at ease if Sienna wasn’t under his direct watch? "Which of you is more capable than I am?"
Pulling Sienna to his side, Adrian ordered everyone to move. All but Walter, Tatu, Aaron, and a few others quickly scattered in different directions.
"Sixth Master, this won’t work! It’s too dangerous," Walter said worriedly.
"It’s decided!"
"Sixth Master!"
Adrian ignored them, pulling Sienna along by the hand. Sienna glanced back and saw Walter’s condemning gaze. She knew she was a burden to Adrian.
"Actually, I’d be fine going with Walter and the others," Sienna whispered.
"Shut up!" Adrian snapped, his temper flaring.
Sienna clamped her mouth shut.
"This whole mess is your fault!" Adrian blamed her.
Fine, I’ll keep my mouth shut. He’s the one who insisted I come with him. If anything happens to us, it’s his own damn fault.
