"What do you want Harlow?" Layla’s voice rang from the other end and she didn’t hide her displeasure for Harlow at all. She felt like she’d been cut out of her best friend’s life ever since Harlow got back with Alanis.

If she ever hated that jerk, it was double time.

"I’m sorry," Harlow said with one eye closed. She had been too occupied with so much drama that she had forgotten Lay for a moment. She has been such a bad friend.

"What do you want?" Layla asked again. Her voice was softer this time.

"A little help," Harlow said calmly. There was silence on the other end and then Layla responded. "Okay. What can I do?" She asked.

For Lay, she hadn’t called all these while because she thought Harlow was still mad at her for setting her up with Andrew. But it seems she wasn’t. Lay felt bad to have set him up, she had seen Alanis arrive there himself to get his wife that night.

"Harlow, we need to meet up and have a conversation about... Last time." Lay started. "Andrew, he..."

"That’s okay. It’s all in the past now. We should focus more on the future." Harlow said. "To make up for that night, I need your help Lay."

"What do you want me to do, I’ll do anything." Harlow smiled.

"I have two events to arrange for. One for Grandma, she recently survived an accident and I’ve been put in charge of the event. And next my auction and diamond competition." Harlow said.

"I was wondering when you would wake up and start up your own company since your father wouldn’t let you have peace," Lay said feeling so proud of her friend. "You have been oppressed for so long Harlow, I’m happy you’re finally back up again." Harlow smiled.

"Lay..."

"How about your stupid stepmother and step-sister?" Lay asked, disgust evident in her tone. Layla has seen so many bad stepmothers, but she has never seen anyone as despicable as Elisa and her stupid daughter Claudia. Those two are the worst people on earth.

Harlow smiled at her question. She quickly recalled everything that happened earlier and started telling her friend about it. It’s been so long since she’s had anyone to talk to, someone to share all of her secrets with.

"A... And..." Harlow stuttered when she felt a hand crawl around her waste.

"You should have made them kiss your feet, Harlow. Forgiving them after everything they’ve done is so not acceptable." Lay said.

"What’s the use, I lied anyway," Harlow confessed. She already got what she wanted, there was no need to waste her time with those people. But how Alanis supported her was what she couldn’t understand.

He had spoken like he was there to match her lie and save her. It’s a good thing she got the missed video call from her investors last week, else she would have been disgraced.

"Oh, Harlow. My sweet sly friend. How could you do that?" Harlow smiled at her friend’s words, but Alanis’s little bit on her ear lobe distracted her again.

"Stop it." She hissed.

"Are you alright Harl?" Lay asked worriedly.

"I... I’m fine, I just need to take care of a little thing. I’ll send the necessary requirements for the p... Prepara... ration of... of the party." Harlow stuttered when his wet tongue moved inside of her ears. She tried to push him off with one hand, but Alanis didn’t budge. He was like a pest in her life.

One she needed to get rid of as soon as possible.

"I have something to tell you," Alanis said calmly leading her to sit by.

"Is that why you were licking my ears?" Harlow yelled then realized the gravity of her words as she blushed. She is meant to hate this man, to despise his very existence. She should never even let him this close to her, but here she was.

"That’s what lovers do my villain. Take it as my reward for defending you today." Harlow shot him a glare.

"Don’t tell me you didn’t enjoy it?" Alanis added with a smile. Why would she enjoy him kissing her ears? Yes, she felt ticklish but isn’t that what everyone feels?

"I could do it again if you want."

"No thank you." Harlow cut him off immediately. She was not in the mood for his nonsense today. She had better things to think of.

"What did you want to tell me?" She asked.

"That I’ve got a surprise for you," Alanis said gently and Harlow stared at him with narrowed eyes. Was he fulfilling one of her wishes again, or was this something else? She couldn’t tell, everything about Alanis right now felt like a mystery.

"It’s a surprise I want to show you." He said casually.

"Keep it to yourself, I’m not interested." Harlow brushed him off. She was still working on staying away from this crazy man, yet everything he thought about was something to bring them closer to each other.

She got up from her seat and was about to leave when Alanis said. "You don’t have a choice." She turned to meet his gaze. Of course, he has to implement her punishment in everything. She frowned at him.

"Now hurry inside my villain and get ready, I know you’ll love my surprise." He said with a grin. Harlow hesitated for a moment, but she knew not obeying his words would only make him add an extra week to her punishment, and she didn’t want that at all.

She started walking up the stairs, her shoes clicking firmly against the marble floor to show her distaste. Whatever Alanis had to show better be worth it, or else she would kill him if he messed with her.

Harlow stepped out of her closet in a black mini-dress. Her red hair flowed down to her back as it bounced when she walked. Though curious about Alanis’s surprise, she hid her curiosity with a nonchalant attitude. She would never let him know she was curious about whatever he was doing.

When she arrived back in the lounge, Alanis smiled on seeing her. The admiration in his eyes said everything one needed to know. He felt blessed to have met this woman again, and just as he promised himself, he would cherish her more than anything.

"You look breathtaking." He complimented.

"I don’t need your compliments, let’s get whatever it is over with quickly," Harlow said and started walking away. The man behind her only smiled at her attitude. He was sure she was going to love his surprise because that was one of her wishes

When they stepped out of the Villa there was already a chauffeur waiting for them. "Master, Madam." The man greeted them with a bow.

"Take us to the place we talked about," Alanis ordered leading his wife inside the car as he stepped in too. The chauffeur stepped into the car too and in no time, he drove them out of the Villa.

Harlow stared at the streets of Halkhalls as they advanced through the city. While they drove, she couldn’t stop imagining what surprise Alanis had for her and why it was kept so very far away. Could the surprise be in another country?

Was he taking her out of the city?

She could recall one of her wishes being to go on vacation overseas. But why will Alanis want to take her out just like that when she has the company to manage?

They arrived before an estate. One that seemed so new and far away from any other building in the city. It looked like a newly developed place with no houses around. Not even an animal walked by.

"Where are we going to?" Harlow finally turned to him. It would be the first time she was speaking to him. She had let her curiosity get the better of her. She couldn’t pretend anymore.

"Shhh." Alanis placed his hands on his lips as he pointed at the narrow road ahead.

"I told you it was a surprise, my villain. It wouldn’t be a surprise anymore if I told you now would it?" He asked and Harlow shook her head.

She had never wanted to ask, but as they drove in further she had gotten scared. What if all this while Alanis has been pretending to care only for him to kill her?

Harlow’s grip on her purse tightened as she let her thoughts get the better of her. She would never let him harm her without a fight. Alanis will pay dearly if he tries anything with her.

As they drove further, a bright light finally came to view and Harlow narrowed her eyes at the light. The further they reached the light, she realized it was a silver gate. Why was there a silver gate?

Where was Alanis taking her to really? She turned to meet his gaze, and he smiled at her...
