The Demon with Holy Radiance-Chapter 97 - 88: Thanks for the Gift of Nature, A Bad Time to Return
How the Ding Chong Daoist raged or vented his fury was of no concern to Yang An. By this point, he had already fled dozens of miles from Wuwei Peak, escaping ever farther away.
He ran for more than three hours. By the time the sun was high in the sky, he was far from Wuwei Peak and found an abandoned cave in the wilderness.
He planned to take stock of what he had taken from Wuwei Peak before deciding where to go next.
The first thing he took out was the Magical Artifact, the Micro Realm Painting Object. Just as he’d suspected, once it was too far from Wuwei Peak, the Seal within it failed.
Fortunately, he had already taken everything out and stored it in the Meat Burial Talisman.
If he had only taken the Magical Artifact, it would have been like stealing the door to a treasury while leaving the treasure behind—a total waste of effort.
He put the Micro Realm Painting Object away. Then, the large mouth on his hand opened wide and spat out its contents one by one. In the blink of an eye, a small mountain of items was piled up before Yang An.
He hadn’t had a chance to count everything before. Now, seeing the sheer volume of items, Yang An’s eyes began to gleam. He then held out two fingers.
"Alright, buddy. Finding what I want and getting my hands on the next Cultivation Technique is all on you. Let’s get to it—give me a thorough appraisal!"
...
The appraisal took a full hour. In the end, only a few items remained before Yang An.
He had identified them from the massive pile as the things he needed most right now, and the most valuable of the lot.
They were: two Light Magic techniques, an unsealed vermilion Jade Bottle, and eight yellowish-gray, translucent... toenails.
The two Light Magic techniques were the *Dark Communication Secret Spell* and the *Treasure Light Glaze Purification Technique*.
The first allowed its user to control a kind of shadowy light. Any enemy touched by this light would fall under a curse, entering a state of self-Seal.
The lower the enemy’s Cultivation Level, the longer they would be Sealed; the higher their Cultivation Level, the shorter the duration.
The cost was that if an enemy broke the Seal, the user of the Technique would suffer a backlash of double the power.
The second was a defensive Technique capable of blocking an enemy’s magical attacks and control-type Techniques.
The stronger the Technique it blocked, the greater the Mana consumption.
For a defensive Technique, its cost was surprisingly high.
Each use of this Technique would cause a cursed poison called "Liuli" to accumulate within the user’s body.
Once the cursed poison reached the body’s limit, the user would be consumed by it, eventually transforming into a Magical Artifact!
To Yang An, this felt less like a conventional Technique and more like a method for refining Magical Artifacts. Judging by the name, it even seemed to have originated from Buddhist Cultivators.
Fortunately, he possessed the Purification Ability, so these costs would have no effect on him whatsoever.
Inside the opened bottle before him was a single gray Elixir. To Yang An’s utter astonishment, it was an Elixir meant to help a Cultivator at the Late Stage of the Primordial Feeding Realm break through to the Visceral Stone Realm.
Among the many Elixirs he’d taken from Wuwei Peak, there were plenty for increasing one’s Cultivation Level and refining Mana. But compared to this one, the others were like mud to the clouds.
Yang An suspected that if he took this Elixir, its effects alone would be potent enough for his Mana to rapidly refine all the way to the Late Stage of the Primordial Feeding Realm.
The final item, the eight toenails laid out before him, left Yang An even more stunned.
It was a set of Array Magical Artifacts that could assist in refining Mana!
’Who the hell uses toenails to make a Magical Artifact?!’
Yang An was initially horrified, but then he remembered the Filthy Daoist he’d encountered—the guy who used his own rectum as a Magical Artifact. Suddenly, this seemed much more reasonable.
’Compared to a rectum, toenails are actually pretty acceptable.’
The only thing was, the method for using this Array Magical Artifact was a bit bizarre. You had to affix the artifacts to the corresponding spots on your own body. When not in use, they had to be removed, or they would cause the Mana in one’s body to fall into chaos and become uncontrollable.
Of course, besides the few items he needed right away, the Meat Burial Talisman still held many other things that might be useful in the future. ’The Ding Chong Daoist is probably going to cough up blood when he sees his empty cave,’ he thought.
Yang An, on the other hand, was ecstatic.
He had to admit, the things he’d gotten from Wuwei Peak had completely surpassed his expectations.
Relying on a mere Mortal Influence like the Blood Bat Gang, he probably wouldn’t have found what he needed even if he’d stayed in Jinlong City for another six months.
"Thank you for your generous contribution!"
Yang An was no fool. Returning to the Life Crane Sect before improving his strength would likely be dangerous.
Since he wasn’t lacking anything, he decided to stay out here for a while. He would master the new Techniques, fuse them into a Dao of Destiny Technique, and raise his Cultivation Level. He would only return once he was stronger.
That way, even if he ran into his Tenth Senior Brother, Xuan Kang, the gap in their Cultivation Levels wouldn’t be so great, and he wouldn’t have to be so afraid.
He casually picked up the Jade Bottle, tipped the gray Elixir out, and after using his Purification Ability on it, decisively tossed it into his mouth.
...
「More than two months passed in the blink of an eye.」
An unseen guest arrived outside the overgrown cave, slowly approaching the entrance.
But just as it was about to enter, a flash of black light shot out, freezing it in place.
Yang An flew out of the cave. Through his Mana-infused True Eye, he saw a Demon Fiend standing silently at the entrance, already Sealed by his dark light.
This was the seventh Demon Fiend to appear in the past two months, and it would likely be the last.
Because Yang An was leaving now to return to the Life Crane Sect.
Aided by the Elixir and the Array Magical Artifact, his Mana refinement speed had, frankly, reached an absurd level.
After mastering and fusing a new Dao of Destiny Technique, his Cultivation Level had successfully reached the peak of the Middle Stage of the Primordial Feeding Realm.
As long as he could get the next part of his Cultivation Technique and fuse one more Dao of Destiny Technique, he could break through to the Late Stage.
It was time to go back.
Looking at the Sealed Demon Fiend before him, Yang An didn’t let it go to waste. He immediately activated a Technique: Meat-Eating Life Nourishment.
Mana condensed in his hand into fine, thread-like tendrils that immediately burrowed into the Demon Fiend’s body.
In a matter of moments, the Demon Fiend’s body deflated like a punctured skin, withering away until nothing was left but a lump of black, unidentifiable matter.
A rice-grain-sized Blood Pearl appeared on Yang An’s hand, then merged into his palm to be stored away.
This was the concentrated essence of an entire Demon Fiend’s flesh and blood, collected via the Technique!
If he collected enough of this essence, it could help him rapidly recover from injuries—a great help in a critical moment.
Having dealt with the Demon Fiend, Yang An wasted no more time, taking to the air and leaving the area.
Several hours later, just before dusk, he finally made it back to Corpse Saliva Valley.
On the way, he had encountered a few more stray Demon Fiends, all of which he had condensed into essence and collected. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
The valley was perpetually gloomy, cold, and desolate. A foul wind stirred the thick, bloody mist, and Yang An felt a strange sense of having been gone a long time.
A coffin still lay quietly at the valley’s entrance. His Sixth Senior Brother hadn’t seemed to move since he’d last seen him. As Yang An crept past, there was no sound or movement, which made him sigh in relief.
After entering Corpse Saliva Valley, however, Yang An ran into Senior Sister Wen Yin. She was checking her bearings, apparently about to leave.
Wen Yin noticed Yang An’s arrival as well, and her expression immediately turned grim.
Before Yang An could even greet her, Wen Yin spoke first.
"Junior Brother, you’ve returned at a bad time!"
"..."
’So... should I just leave then?’
