Chapter 327: 72 Hrs (12) Mega Families.

There was a round, conference room like table, around which they all sat in comfy leather sofas, from the youngest to the oldest and grouped family after family.

Liam and Noah Anderson, the former sitting on the couch nearest to the door while the latter paced the room. Next to him was Krystal’s father and daughter, Alfred and Alexis Alexander respectively, with the former looking pissed for some unknown reasons. However the frown disappeared the minute the door opened and Ethan stepped in, followed by his daughter.

"Father," she called, lowering her eyes slightly in greeting.

Right beside the Almighty Alexanders were the Royal Alexanders, King Reynolds Alexander and his nephew, Duke Arthur Alexander. More out of formal courtesy than out of respect, all three new entrants into the room bowed in unison to them. While those already in the room reiterated the actions by bowing to Kyle who walked straight to his father.

The old man’s eyes seemed to lit up when he caught sight of his son. And disregarding public image, he didn’t hesitate to pull Kyle into a hug as soon as he was close enough to him.

"You look handsome," he whispered, though his voice was still loud enough for everyone in the room to hear, "Even with a fake face and hair."

"Don’t drool over my looks right here, Your Majesty," Kyle replied in a playful tone and added in a whisper, "Read the room."

Intentionally making a noise as she rose from her seat at the far end of the room, Raine had a tense look in her eyes when she asked, "How is Shikera, Ethan? Is she... alright?"

The other DeLoachs rose after her as she walked across the room to meet Ethan.

"The doctors say she’s alright," he replied.

Raine turned swiftly on her heels to take Krystal’s hands, her face far from relaxing.

"Is he speaking the truth? You know..." she trailed off, refraining from mentioning that she wouldn’t be surprised if reverse was the case and Ethan was simply deluding himself into not believing it.

A reassuring smile tugging at the corners of her lips, Krystal nodded.

"She will be alright for now."

"I will make sure that changes," Ethan interjected, turning to face Liam who had frozen in place after hearing Shikera was alright. "Her health...issues, they will be gotten rid of completely."

Liam gave a small nod of acknowledgement.

"Tell me if you need anything," he said.

The rest three families; the Lincolns, the Alvriers, and the Lucians, weren’t as dramatic as the previous ones. And after a small discussion which centered on giving up their families’ best doctors, each of them broke into smaller gatherings of their respective age—and position—groups. The heads of each family converged around Liam, the heirs also around Ethan and so on.

"What’s your plan now?" Kyle asked, walking up to stand behind Ethan with the other heirs in tow.

There was a prolonged silence and everyone almost thought he was ignoring Kyle, before Ethan replied, "I don’t know."

"This is messy," a deep voice chimed in, drawing all of their attentions to himself.

"What the hell are you doing here, Kee?" Kyle asked the intruder, "Aren’t you supposed to be over there?" He gestured in the direction of the place where the heads of families were.

"I could never fit in with those old men," the man named Kee responded. His golden eyes settled on Ethan who was barely paying them attention and was now lost in thought as he asked, "He was without his mask in the news broadcast and he doesn’t seem bothered by it. Doesn’t that mean he’s ready to take it off?"

"What do you think? Dude’s completely in love—"

Arthur Alexander was interrupted by the sound of the door opening, the whole room turning silent with tension hanging in the air.

"Just concluded a..." Leonard trailed off, his gaze sweeping around the room at the displeased faces that stared back at him, "What? Did something happen while I was gone?"

"You are late," Alfred Alexander spoke up, easing the atmosphere.

"Emergency surgery," Leonard informed. "How is Kera now?"

Krystal was about to answer him when he let out a loud exclamation and cut her off, "Shit! I almost forgot. Where’s Ethan?"

His eyes found Ethan where he stood by the window.

"There’s a man down in the lobby. He says a family member is one of the accident victims so I tried to get him in amidst the reporters. Then he asked to get him to Vincent, the Vincent whose wife was also involved in the accident. I looked through the records and saw you are the one closest to the description."

"That truly does describe Ethan," Raine said. "Who is the man?"

"He didn’t give a name. He only said the ’Vincent’ should understand when you tell him the man asking for him was who trained him through his teenage years," Leonard replied. His brows furrowed and his expression grew more serious as he continued, "I had completely disregarded him as someone irrelevant but he told one of the assisting nurses to remind me he’s still waiting for Vincent Jordan."

"Vincent Jordan..." Ethan echoed, the unspoken meaning behind his words laid bare for everyone to see.

No one knew his name was Vincent apart from Shikera and those present in the room right now. But even if anyone had accidentally heard him being called that, what was more than impossible was them knowing his relationship to the name ’Jordan’.

"Except...fuck!" Kyle cursed out loud, raking his hand through his hair in frustration.

Realization had dawned on everyone almost at the same time as it did Kyle, and a string of curses were let out in the silent room.

Arthur cleared his throat, "I know the situation kinda called for it but can we be more careful with cursing in His Majesty’s presence."

Murmurs of apologies filled the room for the next few seconds.

"I will see him," Ethan said.
