Chapter 328: 72 Hrs (13) Torture.

His remark threw the room into another flurry of conversations.

"Why?" Chris asked, "You could ask the guards to handle him instead."

"Or I can," Noah stated, standing up from the couch he had been sitting on with his brows pulled up into a frown, "Coming here at this time can only mean one thing, he probably planned the accident my sister was in. No one expects me to let that go, right?"

Ethan shook his head slightly in disagreement.

"He wouldn’t have requested to see me if that was the case. It’s better for everyone to stay here where there are enough guards," he said.

"You can’t!" Raine snapped, commanding attention with her anger-filled voice, "You know what he did, Ethan. In fact, I’m surprised he’s still..." she trailed off, her eyes straying to where Alexis Alexander sat.

She didn’t complete her sentence but everyone there knew what she wanted to say. That she was surprised Jordan was still alive after his plan to poison Shikera months ago and his history as an enemy of the Mega families.

"He won’t do anything," Ethan reassured his mother with a bland tone.

"I also think you shouldn’t go," Liam spoke up. His eyes bore a myriad of emotions as he stared up at Ethan, "You should go to Shikera instead. Noah and Ezekias here will handle it."

Raking his hand through his hair in frustration, Ethan sighed out loud.

"He came here with the knowledge that there’s are two special forces team captains and a military general here. He is definitely not planning to do something stupid," he assured, his eyes alternating from the face of one person to the other. Seeing that there were still doubts in his mother’s eye, he added, "Jordan is not stupid. I know that, since I lived with him for two years. You all don’t have to worry about me."

Ethan waited for a few seconds more until Raine have a small nod of approval, before turning to walk out the door.

Outside, Raymond made the move to follow him but he refused,

"Most of the hallways have been cleared off so there’s pretty much nothing to be careful of. Stay," he said.

Within minutes, he had gotten to the lobby on the first floor which unfortunately, had people milling about.

And there, standing metres away from him, was the man who had acted as his father for the decade he had spend in abduction.

Jordan. The man looked exactly as he last remembered him. Dark hair with flecks of white; a face that would have been handsome if scars went running deep across it; and brown eyes that seemed to know all.

As soon as their eyes met across the room, Ethan turned around and began to walk away. He led the way to a silent hallway before deciding to stop.

"What do you want?" Ethan asked, getting straight to the point without dilly-dallying.

Jordan scoffed, "Do I look like I want or need anything? If there’s anyone who should say that line, shouldn’t it be me?"

Ethan’s brows arched, his eyes growing colder as the seconds passed by.

"Jordan, you aren’t here to play word games, are you? Cause if you are, then I’m sorry but you have to leave."

"Ouch, look at that!" Jordan chuckled, seemingly unshaken by the coldness in Ethan’s voice. He continued, "Do you not understand what I’m trying to say?"

"I don’t think I need to," Ethan deadpanned.

Jordan shook his head slowly, in an almost pitiful way.

"Oh my, our separation really took its toll on both of us. I lost a little bit of my ruthlessness and you? You lost your brains, Vincent. Don’t you think there’s something you need now?"

"Get the fuck out of here, Jordan. I really do not have the time to entertain you right now. I have to think about—"

Jordan interrupted him, "Think about what?" he asked.

"None of your business."

"Answer me, Vincent!" Jordan insisted. "Think about what? You really haven’t discovered in what area you need help yet?"

"Like I said earlier, none of your business," Ethan stated, narrowing his eyes at him.

"Even if I have the solution to your problem?" he tilted his head sideways in question.

As Ethan opened his mouth to refuse him again, Jordan cut in before he could do so,

"You know what, Vincent? You have requested for my help only once since we met each other, and it was because of the little girl at the time who ended up becoming your wife, Eleanor. What’s one more time that you are hesitating to ask?"

Ethan’s fingers made another journey through his hair as he stepped closer to Jordan, closing the distance between them in an intimidating manner.

"If you really could help me, you wouldn’t be here, Jordan. You’d be at your fucking base waiting for me to come beg for your help," he seethed. "And guess what?"

"What?"

"I would have come," Ethan replied. "I would have tried my best to give you whatever you wanted in return. Even a fucking Mega family membership if you wanted that! But you coming here...do you think my wife lying unconscious in bed will stop me from taking your life right here and now?!"

"You wouldn’t," Jordan whisper.

Ethan forced a small chuckle. "Try me," he challenged.

"I really would," Jordan nodded, "If you didn’t have so little a time left. Trust me, Vincent, you don’t want to drag this on for much longer. And I..." he sighed, rubbing a large palm over his face as if he was highly embarrassed to say his next words.

"I abducted you, Eleanor and the other kids. But you two were the ones I spent the most time with. You, because I needed to shape you into someone like me and Eleanor..."

"Because you needed to torture her, to record her cries and send to each of our parents, thereby torturing them too," Ethan concluded. "What is your point, Jordan?"

"I can save your wife."
