The Fallen Hero Reincarnates as the Demon King's Son-Chapter 19 - 18 - Fleur Wants to Fight
Chapter 19 - 18 - Fleur Wants to Fight
Ever since the dinner, Fleur remembered the face of the boy who had ruined her birthday, Caliste, the youngest son of the Demon King.
She despised him for what he had said about her grandfather, claiming that he was a traitor who had betrayed humanity when it was the complete opposite.
He had saved it.
He had saved it from the greedy hero who had betrayed them, only thinking about himself.
She had done her best not to insult him back then. However, now that she was in the Demonic Academy, far away from her parents, she didn't care anymore.
She wanted him to suffer. That was the only thing she cared about at the moment. She wanted to see his face smashed against the ground as he begged for his life. Fleur could already see the scene in her mind, confident that she could recreate it.
After all, ever since she was a child, she had been the absolute best at everything.
Always the top in everything she tried. No one her age had ever beaten her, and that gap in power was even more clear in the Entrance Test to enter the Demonic Academy. She had utterly defeated anyone who had been even remotely close to her in terms of presumed strength.
She had shown everyone that she was a force to be reckoned with.
And as she spoke up to duel Caliste, even whispers spread.
"I-Is that who I think it is?" someone said from afar.
"I think so... She actually decided to take his offer."
"Do you think she'll win?"
"Of course, don't you remember? No one even managed to make her bleed the last time. And only three people managed to land a hit on her. There's no way that the Demon King's son will be able to do anything." The student laughed. "The only reason he's even here is because of his heritage. He hasn't actually done anything, and just look at his flimsy body. He probably never fought in his entire life."
The student then shut their mouths as they felt both Caliste and Fleur's gazes land on them.
Fleur wasn't stupid. She could feel that Caliste had some strength.
'He's definitely the second strongest here, after me. However, that's where it stops. There's no one even remotely close to my strength.'
Fleur was convinced.
However, what she didn't know was that Caliste was hiding most of his strength by using a hidden technique.
That's why only a small part of Caliste could be detected by Fleur, and that had been done on purpose to set a trap for whoever would dare duel against him.
"Fight! Fight! Fight!"
Students began shouting as the tension in the atmosphere thickened.
However, they were right outside of the Academy.
Weren't there pretty big chances that they would be punished because of it?
At least, that's what Caliste thought. However, when he looked at the determined expression on Fleur's face, he knew that there was no way to delay this fight. She wanted to fight against him right away.
The students quickly formed a circle with both Caliste and Fleur in the middle of it.
The two of them stared at one another, observing each other, analyzing the other's strength.
"Do you really think you can beat me?" Caliste asked while shaking his head. "Maybe the others are stupid enough not to realize my strength... but you?"
Fleur just sighed. "Stop acting like you're better than the rest of the world. I'll make you eat the words you said about my grandfather!"
"Ah, that traitorous bitch? Haha! I guess the truth really hurts, huh?"
Fleur gritted her teeth, her fists clenching.
More and more began talking as they heard what the two of them were saying.
Everyone present knew who Fleur's grandfather was, and all of them knew of the hero he had been for the world, which was why everyone thought Caliste was being crazy at the moment.
"You son of a bitch!" Fleur screamed at the top of her lungs as she suddenly dashed in Caliste's direction.
She hadn't used her mana affinity or any skills. She had just dashed toward him. She might have thought that would have been enough, but she couldn't have been more wrong.
Caliste saw very clearly, and as her fist was heading in his direction, he just placed his palm in its path and caught her fist without any difficulty.
"Not bad. Attacking when I'm not even ready, real classy... really."
Fleur tried to free her hand. 'Ahh... how is he so strong? His body looks so weak! I can't even move my arm.'
But then, as Fleur continued to struggle, Caliste released her arm.
"Alright, I'll give you the first three strikes. You can take your time; I won't attack you until you're done with all of them."
"How arrogant! Does he not know who she is?"
"But did you see how he handled her? I couldn't see her dash, and he perfectly countered her attack! Maybe he really is powerful!"
"Tsk, don't be stupid. There's no one as strong as Fleur here. The moment she starts using her mana affinity, this is game over."
"Right... that's true," the random student reluctantly agreed.
In the meantime, Fleur was currently analyzing Caliste's posture.
He was just standing up straight without a care in the world, not even trying to prepare to defend against one of her strikes.
'I'll just have to take things up a notch.'

Fleur hadn't given her all in the previous attack. She had thought that would have been more than enough. But it seemed like she had underestimated Caliste and his strength.
He needed more than that.
'Let's see how you handle this,' Fleur thought as a blue energy began emitting from her feet.
It was one of the skills she had mastered, [Speed Boost]. It made her move three times as fast.
But then, before she even managed to move, she was already on the ground.
'Huh? How did he move so fast? I didn't even see him!' Fleur thought as Caliste had reacted to her attack before she had even done it.
"That's one."
"Two more to go before I humiliate you in front of everyone."
