Chapter 8 - 7 - The Demon King

He stood in front as all the maids stayed behind him. Everyone had gathered for the arrival of the Demon King.

And now more than ever, it was evident that the Demon King's Castle was completely empty. After all, only Ava's family had been living inside it. There was no presence of anyone apart from maids.

'I do know that I have an older brother. Mother also told me that the Demon King has multiple wives. So, why are we the only ones living here?' Caliste thought with a frown, as he knew that this very place was the main base for all demons.

It had been so thousands of years ago, and it was obviously still the same now. Or, at least, that's what he liked to believe.

-Swooosh!

Strong wind suddenly began colliding against the main door of the castle.

Murmurs began spreading behind Caliste, who stood before them.

"I-Is the Demon King really coming here today?"

"Yes. It seems the traitor was able to convince him to help her useless son."

Caliste raised an eyebrow at those words, as he had never quite heard the maids talk negatively about them.

They were certainly doing it in secret. But never so openly.

"Maybe it's because of the Awakening Ceremony, don't you think?" another maid mentioned.

"Shush. Stay quiet; he could be entering at any given time."

-Click!

-Swoosh!

Then, all of a sudden, the massive door of the castle opened in one swift motion, with three people walking through the entrance.

Caliste immediately frowned as he saw the person who had just walked in.

The person he had vowed to kill in his past life.

'That son of a bitch. How dare you?' Caliste felt rage bubbling inside him.

However, it wasn't because of the past. It was because of the actions he currently had with Ava, his mother, someone whom Caliste valued deeply.

He walked in, and he was still groping her body. Her ass, her breasts, her waist... he was completely abusing her for his own pleasure without ever asking if Ava liked it.

'How dare you.'

Over the past ten years, Caliste had gotten extremely close with his mother and sister, even though they weren't truly part of his family.

He deeply cared for them, and to see his mother getting played with in such a way enraged him.

He clenched his jaw. 'Only I can touch her like this.'

Aleia was walking a few meters behind them, looking down, her shoulders slouched.

Caliste knew with a glance that something had happened.

The maids had just called Ava a traitor. There had to be a reason. There had to be a reason why they were isolated from everyone else.

It seemed Ava had given up something very important to her to make the Demon King come to this place.

But what?

And why would she ever do that?

"Hm... you really do have a nice body. I understand better now why I chose you," the Demon King uttered with an evil smirk as he continued to enjoy Ava's body.

Caliste's fists clenched. 'I'll kill you too. I'll make sure that you can no longer touch my mother like this.'

Rage was beginning to overwhelm Caliste. However, he didn't let it show on his face as the Demon King approached.

He could see the discomfort on his mother's face. But he knew that it was no time to disrespect the Demon King. After all, if Caliste said anything that annoyed him, he could very well die.

Within moments, the Demon King was only a few steps away from Caliste, not yet paying attention to him.

"I-It's him..." Ava muttered in a very low tone, the look on her face showing how scared she was. "He's the one who needs your help."

Caliste didn't say anything as the Demon King suddenly let go of his mother.

Ava immediately sent a gaze of worry toward her son, as she had no idea how the Demon King would act with his son.

He knew what had happened last time when he had interfered with his older brother. He had completely changed and become evil, losing his past happiness and empathy toward others.

'Please, son... don't let him influence your pure heart!' Ava prayed in her heart as she looked at her evil husband analyzing their son.

Looking at Caliste up and down for a few seconds, the Demon King frowned slightly, showing a look of disgust on his face.

"Pathetic."

He shook his head, taking another step forward.

"You were not even able to get rid of this pathetic curse on your own."

The Demon King turned around and looked at Ava.

"You needed my help for something like this?"

Ava gulped and nodded slowly while looking at the ground.

Caliste tried his best to look calm and composed. However, he could see just how scared his mother was. This man before him was still the monster from 100 years ago. Right about now, Caliste remembered very well why he had vowed to kill him.

That's exactly what he deserved.

Caliste tried to hide his emotions, knowing that it was no time to act angry. But it was far too hard, and the moment some of his rage slipped, the Demon King noticed instantly and smirked, his head snapping back in Caliste's direction.

"Interesting..." He smiled. "You're not scared of me."

Caliste felt the gaze of the Demon King landing on him. However, he held his head high, looking right back into his eyes.

"HAHAHA!"

The Demon King began laughing.

"You might not be as useless as those two. Impressive."

Caliste clenched his teeth.

Getting complimented by the Demon King was the last thing he had wanted to happen. He despised it.

If he could, he would have spat in his face just now.

The Demon King continued to laugh even louder and said, "Hm... you're right. He's definitely interesting; I'll help you get rid of this curse of his."

Caliste stood there as he could see the worried expressions on both Aleia and Ava's faces.
