THE GOD EATER-Chapter 149: Let This Happen.
The warriors brought out delicate machines made out of wood and thin translucent fabrics. These delicate machines looked like birds. But they had an empty space with a chair within them for someone to enter, and there were controls, switches, and toggles in this empty space, so they were actually some kind of vehicles.
The warriors entered the space within the bird-like machines and began pedaling to power them up. Their actions caused the four wings of the machines to begin flapping rapidly.
The speed of the flapping wings was so fast that it became impossible to keep track of. This provided uplift for the machines to rise up into the air.
Then the machines zoomed through the air as they shot towards the dirigible. There were ten of them, so the sound they made was very loud and drowned out everything else.
The captain was very satisfied with this sight. He smiled and said, "This should do it."
The previous warriors who took off have been harassing the dirigible since they took flight. They haven’t had any success with destroying the balloon because the people in the cabin of the dirigible have been resisting them.
There are only four of them, while ten enemies are resisting them. So if they are not careful, they will actually be the ones shot down, not the dirigible.
Fortunately for them, the hummingbirds have been released. With the help of these ten humming vehicles, it is only a matter of time for them to take down the dirigible.
Greg saw this and knew that he had reached the limit of his good luck. So it was with great reluctance that he decided to finally take action.
He said to them with a grumble, "You’re lucky that I can’t let you die so soon."
With that said, he activated his Life Ability. This caused strange red birds to appear around him. The strange birds shot out of the cabin with such speed that they looked as if they had just disappeared.
The effect was immediate. Explosions rang out in the sky as the red birds smashed into the flying warriors and hummingbirds.
It was as if someone had let loose a bunch of fireworks into the sky. The sight was mesmerizing. But only the people who were not hurt had the leisure to appreciate the sight.
The captain of the airship saw what happened and asked in shock, "What was that? What did he do?"
The sight of his soldiers dying and falling from the sky to their doom filled his heart with pain. He desperately wanted to know what had happened that made him lose so many people.
Unfortunately for him, he couldn’t figure out what Greg had done because this was something that Greg had never done before. Despite his ignorance, he was smart enough to determine that something was wrong.
So he roared at his men and said, "Fire the cannons. Bring them down."
The cannons had already been loaded and were just waiting to be fired. So it should have been easy for him to turn the tide of battle. But this was not so.
Despite his quick reaction, it turned out that it was already too late. What he got in response to his order were explosions coming from the deck beneath his feet.
The explosions came from the cannons. But this wasn’t the explosion caused by cannon fire. These were explosions caused by cannons exploding.
Apparently, the fire birds that Greg had released earlier hadn’t targeted only the flying warriors and the hummingbirds. Some of them had gone straight for the cannons, too.
The fire birds entered the cannons through their bore and detonated within them. This effectively put the cannons out of commission.
The captain began to panic because of these turn of events. He was frantic as he ran away, shouting orders to rectify the situation.
On the other hand, Greg was relaxed as he pressed a button on the control deck. The button released a harpoon that shot at the airship and lodged deep into it.
Then Greg pressed another button, which caused the rope attached to the harpoon to be reeled in. Since the airship was bigger and more powerful than the dirigible, it was the dirigible that was being pulled towards the airship, not the other way around.
This caused the two flying ships to move closer to each other rapidly. It was what the captain of the airship wanted, but it was definitely not in this way. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
He shouted at his men, saying, "Cut off the harpoon. Cut it off immediately."
Greg heard his shout and said, "Let this happen. Let me try to capture you so that you can fight for your life. If you don’t let me capture you, I will bring down your airship. You know I can do it."
This threat caused the captain to grit his teeth in frustration. Then he said to his men, "Don’t bother. Let him come. We still outnumber them, so we still have a chance. As long as we kill him, we will be the final winners."
The people of the Martial Body Sect had bitter looks on their faces because of the unpleasant situation. But this was the best option, so they could only swallow the bitterness and prepare for battle.
All of them began scrambling for their weapons in preparation for battle. As it happened, all of their weapons were gauntlets. This was because, as members of the Martial Body Sect, they only fight with their Metacs, their bodies, and their fists.
On the other side, Greg nodded in satisfaction and said, "That’s the spirit."
Then he turned to his subordinates and said, "I want that airship. It is large, powerful, and pleasing to the eye. That makes it exactly what is befitting of someone of my caliber and status."
He glared sternly at them and said, "I must have it, and you must make yourself useful in helping me to acquire it. I swear that if I don’t get that airship, I will kill all of you."
