The King's Unbreakable Wife-Chapter 165: Too good (4)
Chapter 165: Too good (4)
Hazel flipped another page of the book she was reading. Though some might find it boring she enjoyed reading the book with Tobias fast asleep on her lap. He slept as though he had not gotten proper rest for days and now she needed answers to what he was doing leading up to the wedding.
Tobias was not yet king and already he appeared drained. She hoped that the work he had to do would decrease so Tobias would not tire himself out so often.
Hazel played with his hair, something he said calmed him. When she moved her hand earlier, Tobias had put it right back. Even when he was tired Tobias still found a moment to be like a child.
’Tobias, you must eat something. You shouldn’t be tired and hungry," Hazel said.
There were fruit, sandwiches, and a variety of pastries for him to enjoy. Even a bit of meat was present.
"Feed me," Tobias answered. He was too comfortable to move just to eat. "Please."
"Just this once," Hazel said, opening the basket for a sandwich to feed him. He had taken care of her this morning so she was repaying the deed.
The sound of someone coming close distracted her for a moment.
’Tobias, a guard is coming," Hazel informed him. There was an order to not disturb them so what terrible news brought the guard here? ’Good afternoon," she greeted the guard. freewebnσvel.cѳm
"Prince Tobias-"
"I said not to interrupt us. Do you not value your life?" Tobias questioned. It seemed he needed to call for an inspection of the servant and guard’s ears as they were not listening. Was it their plan to ruin his time with Hazel?
"I am aware, but I received orders that you are requested in the court for a serious matter. I am to escort you there."
"Go tell the fuc- the person," Tobias corrected himself from cursing before Hazel. "Who sent you that I am with my wife. My duties were put on hold for the next two days. Go along before your sword is what takes your life."
The guard looked to Hazel for help. He was only doing as he was ordered to. It was said that the prince had to be present and he should not return without Tobias. The day was far from over so Tobias could see what the court needed and then return to Hazel. It was not like they were in bed.
"He told you what to do," Hazel said, not seeing why the guard was staring at her. Why should anyone expect her to want to send Tobias away?
There were plenty of men in the court to deal with whatever matter they needed Tobias for and Jeffrey was still king. Unless someone had died, Tobias should stay right here.
"I cannot go without the prince," the guard replied.
"Then you’ve found yourself in a terrible position as I am not leaving. What is the reason I am needed in the court?" Tobias asked, opening his eyes to see the face of the guard.
’I was not told-"
’Then the matter is not urgent to need me there. I am giving you to the count of twenty to move from by our side. You won’t like it if I have to get up from where I am comfortable now. One," Tobias began to count.
"Please return to the court and give them his response. Tell them that you were ordered to leave us be," said Hazel. She wouldn’t put it past Tobias to get up and harm the guard as he was already annoyed with the earlier mistake.
Hazel didn’t like the disturbance but they shouldn’t hurt the messenger.
The guard didn’t move by the time Tobias got to fifteen, but before Tobias could reach twenty, he turned to leave. He knew that he would be back as the person who sent him wanted the prince present.
Hazel massaged Tobias’s forehead to calm him down. "You mustn’t dwell on it."
"I made it clear that we are not to be disturbed. I did all my work to be free these two days," Tobias revealed.
Hazel stopped tending to him as now she had the answer to why he was so tired. "I thought you were granted a day off. I didn’t know you had worked hard to be with me today. I am having it easy while you are working hard."
Tobias looked up at Hazel. Once again she was worrying over nothing. He was bound to have more work to do than Hazel. "I don’t see you having it easy. There are duties you have that I wouldn’t be able to stomach. It wasn’t a lot of work I did."
"You’re lying. You went to sleep as soon as we finished kissing. Don’t try to do all your work so fast just to be with me. I can do with you being busy, but it pains me to see you tired and know it has something to do with me. You must spread out your work. For me," Hazel said as she wouldn’t know what to do seeing him one day pass out.
"If I do that, I might not be around as much as I want," Tobias answered.
There was a lot of work he had to take over from his father and a lot for him to now start on his own. It was so much that he might see Hazel less than he did before they were married.
’That’s why you need capable people around you. Like in the court and you plan to do that. You cannot rush those plans. I understand that you have to be busy and it does not bother me, Tobias. I knew what I was getting myself into. I shall make up not seeing you in the day at night," Hazel said, knowing he would enjoy this.
"Then does that mean you will not kick me out of your room when I come to visit?" Tobias asked. He wished there was paper for them to write up a contract so she could not go back on her word.
"I won’t as long as you don’t annoy me. Since you worked hard to have the day off, I shall make it up to you when we reach the house. We are not going there now," Hazel said, pushing Tobias back down before he sat up. "You must eat and I am getting to a part I quite like reading in this book. Oh."
Tobias looked at the book in her hands. ’So, you’ve read it already."
Hazel folded her lips.
"Wonderful," Tobias sighed. "All my efforts are going wrong."
Hazel wanted to pinch herself for making such a mistake. It was up to her to save the rest of the day before Tobias could turn out to be the one worrying.
