The King's Unbreakable Wife-Chapter 192: Shame (3)
Chapter 192: Shame (3)
"Your Majesty, we are here to talk with our fathers-"
"Who are men of the court and have no time to spare for chatter at the moment. There is an event in the palace right now so we are all quite busy. It was lovely of you to visit them but today is not a good time. Have a safe ride out of the palace," said Hazel.
One of the women, Gianna, smiled as she was not ready to leave the palace yet. Not when she had not come across the king nor seen her father. "If you don’t mind, we would like to stay a little longer to see our fathers. They work so hard helping you that we don’t get to see them often." ƒгeewebnovёl.com
"I see. Then being daughters of court men you should know where the court is. It is not here in the palace. Are you aware that you must take your carriage or walk to it? If your fathers cannot see you now, consider it a bad day and leave," Hazel advised the two.
It was irritating that she could tell they had no intention of listening to her order.
"I’m afraid that we were told to stay put in the palace by our fathers as they will come to us soon," said Felicity, the other young woman.
"The queen has given you an order. Do you wish to be lashed for not listening?" Lynn questioned, angered by the two women. It was apparent what the two were here for and what upset Lynn even more was how they acted as though they were already the king’s women.
"I am in a rush so I can’t put up with you now. I shall order the guards to lead anyone not part of today’s event out of the palace. It is up to you if you wish to be seen escorted out of the palace by guards. Now, please step aside for me to pass," said Hazel.
Felicity and Gianna stepped to the right of Hazel but they were not yet ready to leave.
"I thought the queen would be understanding. Chasing us out won’t stop anything when there have been countless meetings about gathering a list of women to warm the king’s bed if you cannot give him an heir. Or were you not aware, Your Majesty?" Gianna asked mockingly.
Seeing the queen did not scare her as Gianna’s eyes were focused on one day living in the palace. Her father was hellbent on getting her to be the mother of a future prince or princess.
It wasn’t uncommon for a king to have several women alongside the queen so to not embarrass herself, Hazel should let it happen as it was meant to go and stay quiet. Chasing women away only for the king to take one would be embarrassing.
"We won’t pretend we aren’t here for the king but there are many others like us visiting the palace so you shouldn’t take your anger out on us and try to force us to leave. How many women will you try to force out of the palace? There are too many for you to do that so please, just leave us be," Felicity requested.
Their desire to be here was too strong to listen to the queen and then there were their fathers who would scold them for leaving without seducing the king.
Hazel sighed, wanting to know what terrible luck she had for this to be happening now. These two were seen in the palace regularly but others were starting to show. Tobias had called for many to leave the palace but then the excuses of seeing their fathers came up.
Hazel knew that she had nothing to worry about as they would never cross paths with Tobias. He was too busy to meet with anyone and even if the court played tricks to get their daughters close to Tobias, he wouldn’t pay them any attention.
This was the same prince who focused on only Hazel during the selection. Unless he grew bored of her, which didn’t seem to be happening soon, there would be no women by his side.
Hazel could smile and walk away as she knew she had nothing to worry about, but she just couldn’t let these women get away with not listening to her order. Regardless of how anyone saw the queen and thought she had little power, she was going to make them listen to her.
"Lynn, go to the captain of the guards and instruct him that all young women who cannot present an invitation to the event today must be escorted out of the palace. If they refuse to leave, throw them in the dungeon. Oh, should their fathers intervene, throw them in the dungeons too so they could have time to speak with the daughters," said Hazel.
They would be out of her sight and get the time with their fathers which they so desperately wanted.
"Your Majesty!" Gianna called. It was hardly fair that they were being kicked out merely because the queen was jealous. "Why did you marry a man who would not belong solely to you if you were going to be this way?"
Hazel didn’t answer as she had a party to attend. She would never be kind to those disrespecting her by trying to sleep with her husband. They were doing something dirty so she would follow in getting them out of her sight.
"Do not linger on that for long. I need you to be focused on the party and see which young lady is looking to cause trouble today," Hazel said to Julia.
"Forgive me for what I am about to say. Are you confident that the king will have only you? I never want to see that happen so I hope he will not be like other men and keep his promise to you. I’m sorry," Julia apologised.
"I must trust my husband. The day I stopped trusting him, this marriage will fail. The king hasn’t given me any reason to doubt him so don’t worry about it. I hadn’t thought about how concerned all of you would be about this. Trust me when I say that I am fine," Hazel promised.
"Okay,’ Julia replied, secretly looking forward to the day Hazel wouldn’t be fine. Just once Hazel should know what it was like to suffer. Hazel and all the young women attending today had an easy life while others had to work hard or wait for someone to reach out a hand.
Julia didn’t believe that the king’s interest in Hazel would last forever. He was a man after all and said to be a flirt. One day he would give in to the advances of the women coming around him and forget about his wife.
Julia would have it be Linda to be the one he would fall in love with as Linda was the only young woman from a good family that she cared for. They were like family since Linda was a Henson and Julia was part of the family in secret.
In the future, Linda should come to love her as much as Grant did for helping her get the seat of the queen.
