The King's Unbreakable Wife-Chapter 205: Art (2)
Chapter 205: Art (2)
"I don’t understand one thing. Why go through all the trouble of riding her chances of having a baby when you could just kill her? Do you plan to stop preventing her from having a child once your granddaughter is in the palace? The present queen must die for Linda to be queen," William voiced what many of his peers thought.
Women from the selection would be brought back to the palace if Hazel died. Since Linda did well it would be no surprise that she would be welcomed back. What they needed to do was right before them.
"Is it that you care for the queen?" William wondered.
What was the point of doing all of this when Hazel eventually had to die? Grant couldn’t want the throne that bad in William’s opinion if he wasn’t going all the way to get rid of the person in Linda’s seat.
It was no secret that Linda and Hazel were close so was that the reason why Grant was hesitating? It was risky for men like William as they couldn’t have Grant feeling guilty and not go through with the plan. They had put so much into this.
Grant didn’t have an answer to share. He knew what needed to happen one day but he wasn’t there yet. With anyone else, he would have killed the queen already to give Linda a second chance to be where she belonged but he couldn’t bring himself to do it yet.
"Focus on getting what I told you and return to me the second it is in your hands. The queen will be out of the way in the future. That is all that matters," Grant replied.
Killing Hazel was easy but getting Tobias and Linda to start showing an interest in each other was the hard part.
"I need the queen around for a while as I try to get that foolish king to notice Linda. By then most of the eligible women would be married off and Linda would be left," Grant revealed, his eyes going to the portrait of Linda. "I might have to do something to ruin her name for a moment."
"I see. That is why you need something to get a person aroused. She won’t be able to take her hands off-"
"Not her," Grant accidentally revealed.
William didn’t understand at first then a smile appeared as he got it. Grant was going to make the prince aroused and Linda would be the one out of her mind? "I must say that you had me worried there for a moment by not killing the queen but I can see now just how much you want this."
"The king is no different from any other man. We all know of his past with women so it will not be hard to get him to sleep with your granddaughter. It’s a shame such a good friendship between two women would be ruined. Wait, rather than kill the queen, give her to me," William proposed.
William couldn’t believe he had not paid attention to the precious art he could have.
Grant stared at William who might have lost his mind. "What are you on about now? How can I give you a queen? Why would I do that?"
"I will do something grand in exchange for it. By the time the king has Linda, he won’t care what happens to his former wife. A queen who has fallen from the top would make a good art in my home and I have never been with a queen before. Help me fill my curiosity," William pleaded.
No one in town would have better art than his home.
"Please allow me to have her when you are-"
"No. She’ll die," Grant decided. That was a better ending for Hazel than to go with William.
On the way for Linda to become queen, Grant had to hurt Hazel more than she had ever been hurt. Once he had what he wanted there was no need to torture her any longer. Hazel would thank him for death instead of having her go with William.
William didn’t take too kindly to Grant not offering him Hazel. The young woman was set to die anyway so why not put her to good use? William couldn’t allow for such a treasure to be killed when there was better use for her.
When the time came, Hazel would find her way into his home.
"I am warning you, William. Do not try taking her," Grant warned as their friendship would end there and one of them would die.
William laughed to hide his true feelings. "I’ve already got my eyes set on another young woman so I am not upset over losing the queen. Besides, I would enjoy having her around for a day or two after she has died. The body isn’t so bad then."
"I will think about it. There is much to think about in the present so I don’t want to be questioned about the future. Is there more for you to tell me?" Grant asked as he was no longer interested in speaking to William.
William couldn’t stay for too long in case Kenneth would do a surprise visit with his sons. William didn’t have the best reputation because his loans weren’t a secret to most.
Grant rubbed his forehead as he was still thinking about what to do with Kenneth. He assumed Kenneth’s mouthy wife had said something since Kenneth had become more distant. With how Kenneth was turning out to be, Kenneth might be one of the people Grant would need to kill.
"I have nothing more to say since you have given me something to prove my loyalty. I will be back soon but first, there is a baron in need of money and a daughter that I want promised to me. Think again about having one of my women," William reminded Grant.
Grant’s wife was once beautiful and she still was now, but there were younger women to bed. William had no plans to wed when there were many women for him to try.
Grant sighed in relief as William exited the room. He didn’t need to hear William questioning his plans. William would not have Hazel at any point. For all that he was going to do to Hazel, he had to give her a peaceful send off. An apology from someone who was like a grandfather to her.
Grant saw it as Nathan’s fault for not letting Hazel get married long before the prince returned. Then she wouldn’t have been in the middle of this mess.
