The Knight's Mysterious Maid-Chapter 342: New member (2)
Chapter 342: New member (2)
"I am ready to talk," Heidi said, sitting up. She had enough time to lay around and think about where she would go from here with Annalise. "Thank you for giving me time. Now that I know this, it all makes sense why you never seemed to understand what you could or couldn’t do. Some rules that a small child should know, you didn’t know."
"There are too many rules here I had to learn. Then all of you tend to bend those rules to your liking and it confuses me. I didn’t have much knowledge of what I shouldn’t do until I left home," Annalise answered.
"I thought you just like to give trouble and did things without thinking. I questioned why you were so relaxed around the Callahans and their guests. I also thought because you lived on a farm you wouldn’t have come across nobles to know how to act around them. Now I know. If anyone had been suspicious about you, would you have killed them?" Heidi asked. What if it was her to think something was suspicious about Annalise?
"Yes," Annalise gave an honest answer. "It was either me or that person to die so I would have saved myself. If it was someone I was close to during my time here, I would have hesitated. I’ve grown to care for some of you."
"Thank goodness I befriended you," Heidi said, touching her throat. "Sorry. I don’t think you would have stabbed or sliced my throat. Could you do it though?"
"I could if I wanted. My father let me train all my life so I could protect myself," Annalise revealed.
"So, some of the maids who were picking on you could have died if you were not in the mood?" Heidi asked, getting excited about this. She was starting to forget what was said about the border being dangerous.
"Yes. Do you remember Olivia-"
"You killed her!" Heidi exclaimed, clamping her hands over her mouth in case it was a secret no one else should know. What if Annalise had hidden the body and now she had made it known Annalise killed someone?
"I did not kill her. She tried to kidnap me because she was hired by Rafael’s uncle. She is locked away somewhere here for trying to take me. I almost fought her but Rafael stopped it earlier than I liked. Speaking of Rafael, I am together with him as you said. He has informed Mavis that I am to be treated as the lady of the manor. Heidi?" Annalise called, snapping her fingers. "Is this really what breaks you?"
Heidi couldn’t believe Annalise confessed to having a relationship with Rafael. She had been joking all along about Annalise getting together with Rafael and making bets with Cara. She never thought it would happen since Annalise never appeared interested in Rafael like the other women were.
This was more shocking than Annalise being from the border.
"You’ve returned to kill me, haven’t you? I need to know everything," Heidi said, needing every single moment of how Annalise succeeded in getting Rafael to be told. "You know that I wish to marry. Please be a dear friend and share your secret with me."
Annalise smiled because of how Heidi seemed to forget all about the border now that she knew about the relationship she had with Rafael. She was ready to give her friends the time and space they needed, but she was happy to have Heidi being Heidi.
"You need to share- Ah!" Heidi screamed, taking her feet off the floor as something black came running out from under the bed Annalise sat on. "Get a shoe!" She yelled, wanting Annalise to use her shoe. If she squashed it with her shoe, Heidi felt like she would forever be stuck with traces of the spider even if she were to wash her shoe.
Annalise leaned over to get a look at what had scared Heidi and saw a spider seemingly hurt from someone hitting it, running out from the bed. "Poor thing. Whoever had to clean this room must have hurt it. It looks like the ones we see when we wash by the river."
As the spider ran toward the chair Heidi was sitting in to hide again, she jumped out of the chair toward the bed. "Whoever tried to kill it needs to come back to finish the job. Who was assigned to this room?" She asked herself, trying to think back to the maids assigned to this floor. "It wasn’t me or it would have been dead. What are you doing, Annalise?"
"Helping it. It’s already been through enough with someone hitting it. Lift the chair for me so I can grab it," Annalise said, keeping an eye on the chair to see when the spider might run out. "We need to be quick before it runs somewhere we can’t get it."
Heidi stared at Annalise in disbelief, considering Annalise’s time away might have led to her forgetting she was not fond of spiders. "Annalise, there’s no way I will help you move that chair for a spider to run out on my feet to scare me."
"Scare you? It’s just looking for somewhere to hide. We came in here making a lot of noise and disturbed it. Got you," Annalise said, bending down to grab the spider before it could hurry away.
She missed it the first time but grabbed it the second. "That’s why you aren’t as fast as you should be. It’s missing a leg. Someone must have been trying hard to kill it. How long have you been here escaping being killed? This is fate."
"Again. The person who tried to kill it didn’t do a good job. Oh thank goodness," Heidi sighed in relief after a knock on the door was heard. She would take any chance to escape being alone in this room with Annalise and the spider in her hands. "I will get the door. Try not to drop the spider," she said, carefully getting off the bed to get to the door.
Heidi kept her eyes on Annalise to be ready to run if Annalise dropped the spider. Annalise would enjoy pretending to drop the spider to scare her.
Heidi opened the door and felt her heart sank. She was more scared now than when she saw the spider running out from under the bed. "Sir Rafael," she greeted Rafael, her left opened wide. She tried her best to not look a fool before him, but for some reason, she couldn’t get her mouth to close.
"I need to have a word alone with Annalise," Rafael said, entering the room. He finally had a moment’s break to see how Annalise was settling into her new room. frёeωebɳovel.com
"Excuse me," Heidi said, rushing out of the room to give Rafael and Annalise time alone. Once again, she couldn’t believe the two were together and couldn’t wait to rub it in the faces of the maids who once tried to pick on Annalise. Now they had to treat Annalise as the lady of the manor. "What a good day."
Rafael waited for the door to close behind him to then walk forward into the room. He looked around at the room which would change in the coming days. "Is it to your liking?" He asked.
"Is it to my liking? It is much bigger than the room I used before. I can’t wait to collect weapons and put them up just as you have done in your room," Annalise said as she approached Rafael. She kept her hands together to hide the spider.
"Rafael," she called to get his attention when he started to look down at her hands. "Will you be training today or spending time with me?"
Rafael looked away from her hands to meet her eyes. "I need to send a letter to the palace first. What are you up to, Annalise?" He asked, sensing that she was up to no good as she approached him. "What are you hiding in your hands?"
"A gift I picked up for you but am I nervous if it will be as good as what you have given to me. Look!" Annalise said, raising her hands high to reveal the spider. She tried to get the spider as close as she possibly could to Rafael’s face so he could see it clearly.
"Shit," Rafael cursed, almost losing his balance when he stepped back to get away from the spider.
"Meet the new member of our relationship," Annalise said.
