The Lich of Glory Knight Spirit: Moving towards Krimasha!-Chapter 235 - 06: Jones’s Marriage (4)_2
Chapter 235: Chapter 06: Jones’s Marriage (4)_2
"It’s alright, at least for now." Jones stepped toward his room.
...
"Tripped?" Count Dracula gently touched the palm-sized doll sculpture on his desk, and the doll fell over with a "clang": "Tripped and defeated? At seventy, I should not be able to defeat someone who is one hundred and thirty. But, who knows what happened?"
Count Dracula shrugged.
For the Blood Clan, fighting was something that straddled the line between good and bad.
Strong power was desired by all races, and the Blood Clan was no exception. For those Blood Clan members who were genuinely powerful, their prestige came from being strong enough to fight and having many offspring. Most of these Blood Clan members were very old, and unlikely to fight unnecessarily as there was no need.
For other Blood Clan members, fighting was not a good thing. It was crude, lacked elegance, and did not fit with the aesthetics of the Blood Clan.
"Yes, the damned Blood Clan aesthetics." *Jones suddenly regretted not spitting in Bailey’s face, making the crudeness more intense. He never intended to please those gossipy relatives anyway. Now, he just wanted to end his time at home quickly, though he still felt a bit intimidated when facing his parents.*
*In fact, he seemed equally intimidated by Gray.* freeweɓnovel~cѳm
Back in his room, Jones lay directly in the coffin without a word.
"Lord Jones, are you going to sleep?"
"What else? Do I have anything else to do?"
"Alright..."
Dora silently moved the coffin lid, and with a "clang," she closed it.
Jones started to doze off.
The Blood Clan had another convenience: they could choose to hibernate. Anytime, as long as they wanted to sleep, they could sleep, and for as long as they wanted. They usually slept through unpleasant times.
Evidently, Jones was in such a state now.
...
The informant didn’t want to praise Jones, so Count Dracula had no idea of the actual situation of the duel, simply thinking Jones had fought outside and won by luck. However, with so many witnesses, this bizarre duel couldn’t avoid being talked about. The key was, spreading rumors was a major hobby of the Blood Clan. Otherwise, what would they talk about during their numerous social activities?
"Did you know? That kid from the Dracula Family who believes in human religion can even summon Holy Light. Bailey got beaten up. I saw it with my own eyes."
...
"Did you know? The kid from the Dracula Family not only believes in human religion but is a priest. Bailey’s whole family couldn’t beat him. My friend saw it with his own eyes."
...
"Did you know? The kid from the Dracula Family is actually a bishop. It’s terrifying; he can even summon an angel. My cousin’s friend saw it with his own eyes."
...
Several days later, at a tea party, a lady cautiously asked the Countess: "I heard that your family houses several angels?"
"Angels? I don’t know anything about it." The Countess was completely baffled.
In any case, becoming a popular figure was always better than being mocked.
Sometimes people were just that realistic, and the Blood Clan was no different. A Blood Clan member who believed in Holy Light would be mocked by all Blood Clan members, but if that member could indeed summon Holy Light and had a fatal "purifying effect" on other Blood Clan members, no one would dare to mock him anymore.
Jones ate and slept every day, living in a daze, seemingly merging with the coffin like a slug.
On the fifth night after returning home, his parents dragged him out of the coffin. The Earl and Countess together meticulously examined Jones from top to bottom, not even missing a hair.
Jones said nothing, woodenly letting them mess with him. *Perhaps he hadn’t fully woken up.*
After a long while, the Countess curiously said: "No, his Magic Power is still dark magic, it hasn’t converted to light power. He shouldn’t be able to perform the Holy Light Technique."
"Must be a rumor."
"But Bailey also said so."
"He might want to slander our Jones."
"It must be that, can’t believe Bailey is so low." They then left.
Indeed, the Blood Clan was that ignorant. Despite so many Blood Clan members, no one noticed it was the ring working. Something long known among the Lich group, few in the Blood Clan were aware of it.
Jones lazily yawned and returned to the coffin to continue sleeping. *He wanted to sleep through the entire year-off.*
During this time, Count Dracula sent a letter to his sister, seeking a time to bring Jones to apologize formally. Surprisingly, Aunt Sarah agreed immediately, setting a date for a week later for a formal meeting.
"What does a formal meeting imply? It means Aunt Sarah no longer opposed the marriage; quite the contrary, she fully supported it. She stated in the letter that Susan was looking forward to it too."
This baffled Count Dracula.
He had prepared a letter full of flattering words, but it was unnecessary.
In fact, while rumors were rampant outside, the Dracula family remained utterly calm, as if nothing had happened. After all, Jones slept deeply.
On the eighth morning after Jones returned home, a Blood Clan member about Bailey’s age, accompanied by a large group of servants, rang the Dracula Family’s doorbell.
...
"Hello. I am Adelle Sambo. Pleased to meet you. Have we met before? Probably have, considering Dracula is a noble surname. But I didn’t quite pay attention to you before. I heard good things about you and would like to invite you to join my Brotherhood."
Brown hair, handsome face, luxurious white-gold trimmed attire, straight posture, and a look of pride.
Jones knew the name Sambo, one of the three major Blood Clan families. The Brotherhood was a small group within the Blood Clan, akin to an alliance, engaging in activities like playing chess, cards, attending balls, and some mutual exclusion and scheming.
Children from big families typically formed their Brotherhood early, essentially a group of cronies. Smaller families had their Brotherhood too, but those were for mutual support. Jones’s father fell into the latter category.
If it had been before, Jones would have been ecstatic receiving such an invitation. It meant he had come closer to his goal of "conquering the world."
Now, he only wanted to yawn.
*"I am the Lich King’s adopted son, although he isn’t highly reliable, you should join my Brotherhood instead."* Of course, he wouldn’t say it aloud, as Count Dracula was watching him closely.
Seeing Jones unresponsive for a while, Adelle asked: "Are you not fully awake yet? Do you need to go back to sleep for a bit?"
"Oh no!" Dracula quickly replied, embarrassed: "He’s... he’s so excited, a bit overwhelmed."
Jones yawned, tears welled up.
"Is that what overwhelmed looks like?"
"Yes, exactly that. He’s very pleased to join Lord Sambo’s Brotherhood and is willing to become its core member."
"Thought so." Adelle proudly lifted his head, handing over a piece of paper, "Alright, since you’re tired, go back to sleep. I’ll leave now. Tomorrow is the Brotherhood gathering, here’s the address. I plan to introduce you to others. Heard you beat up Bailey, nice job. Hahaha."
Jones took the paper, expressionless.
...
After Adelle left, Count Dracula hugged Jones, cheering.
"It’s fantastic, at just seventy-something, you’ve been invited to join the Sambo Family’s Brotherhood! I once wanted to join his father’s Brotherhood, but couldn’t pass the challenge! My son is amazing! But why did he invite you? Because you luckily beat Bailey?"
Jones still looked wooden.
"Aren’t you happy?"
"Yeah. Haha."
Hmm, *Jones’s fake smile.*
