Chapter 41: 41. Something That I do For Her To Repay Me Soon! (Please Let it Be Her Body)

Rex, who was still close to Diana and Lily, used his telekinesis to expand his awareness. And it is time to show that Elliot isn’t the perfect hero this world needs.

When Elliot lunged forward with a thrust, Rex moved a small rock under his foot. The hero stumbled, his strike failed, and he found himself overextended.

Everyone was shocked seeing Elliot make a fool of himself just because he tripped on a small rock. "Oh no!"

The Goblin King’s axe came down in a brutal overhead chop that Elliot barely managed to block. And then... the blow knocked him to one knee.

"Elliot!" Diana cried out.

Elliot gritted his teeth and pushed back, struggling to stand despite the overwhelming strength of the monster pressing down on him. His arms trembled from the exertion, and beads of sweat trickled down his face.

Rex changed the way Elliot held his sword. He used a tiny amount of telekinesis to make his palm slide a little on the hilt.

"Just look at this fucking fool... he’s trying so hard."

Elliot’s counter swing lost power and hit the king’s armor instead of his flesh. "N-No...! Fuck...!!!"

"What the fuck is wrong with—"

The Goblin King struck Elliot with a headbutt, causing the hero’s face to collide with his thick skull. Elliot’s nose broke with a sickening crunch, and blood sprayed everywhere as he fell back.

"No, brother...!" Lily tried to get up, but Diana wouldn’t let her. "Let me go...! I want to help him!"

"No, Lily! Stay here! You’re not strong enough to face something like this!" the older sister yelled, even though she was scared for their brother and her face was pale.

Elliot tried to see better by wiping blood from his eyes. The Goblin King didn’t give him a chance; instead, he pushed forward with even more force.

Its axe came at him from all sides, and each swing got closer to killing him.

The hero was having trouble. His blocks were a little slower, and his dodges weren’t as clean. He would have been dead in a few more seconds.

Helena determined that she had witnessed enough. As she started casting a series of deadly spells, her hands wove intricate patterns. The air around her crackled with magic, and the power grew stronger and stronger.

"Flame Lance!" she shouted, and a spear of concentrated fire shot out of her hands and screamed toward the Goblin King.

The spell followed the monster even though it tried to get away. It hit its back and burned through its armor.

RAAAAAAAGGGHHHHHHH!!!

It roared in pain, which took its attention away from Elliot.

"Ice Shards!" Helena shouted again, not giving it a chance to catch its breath.

A flurry of sharp ice shards materialized and hurled forward, with each shard striking exposed skin and penetrating deeply.

Rex closely observes Helena’s magic and notes that she seems to be using basic spells that have been significantly enhanced.

This observation leads Rex to consider that in this world, magic can transform into anything, provided the user possesses enough energy and imagination to unleash it.

"Stone Fist!" The ground under the Goblin King exploded, and a huge structure of rock and dirt turned into a giant fist that punched up, hitting the monster in the chest and lifting it off its feet.

The king crashed back to the ground, injured and bleeding from multiple wounds. And for the first time, it appeared terrified as dark blood collected beneath it.

Helena moved forward, her magic building up for what was clearly going to be the final blow. "It’s time to end this madness!"

"Lightning... BOOLLTT!!!" she screamed, and it seemed like the sky answered her, with electricity gathering above her hand.

The Goblin King reacted unexpectedly upon realizing that it would die within seconds as Helena prepared her finishing blow.

RAAAAAAAAAGGGGHHHHH!!!

The king let out a desperate growl, and it must have used its skill, because its whole body suddenly filled with dark energy. Its wounds started to heal, and it felt stronger in its limbs.

Rex raised an eyebrow as he observed the Goblin King’s wound healing through regeneration, which briefly illuminated his thoughts. "Regeneration... That’s it...!"

Rex thought to himself. "I should’ve known earlier that regeneration is going to be such a fucking OP skill I can use for my manipulation..."

"With that... I could hurt myself without having to worry about dying, which means that I could trick everyone by trying to save them." Rex smirks. "I’ll add to my list soon... and debate which I should pick between foresight and infinite regeneration."

"RAAAAGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!" The Goblin King screamed even louder while punching his chest like a gorilla.

"What is it doing...?" Lily asked with a scared look.

"That’s his skill when he’s about to die... Berserk mode," Diana whispered in fear. "He’s entering a rage of death."

The Goblin King, who had been given power from the rage, raised his axe high and slammed it into the ground with all his might. The impact made a huge shockwave that spread out, ripping up the ground and sending a cloud of dust and debris flying across the battlefield.

It was nearly impossible for anyone to see clearly at that moment. The massive cloud of dust obscured their vision, transforming the clearing into a confusing, blind maze.

Helena’s lightning bolt went off into empty air because she couldn’t see her target anymore. "Tch!"

"Damn it!" she yelled, waving her hand to try to get rid of the dust.

"What a smart creature..." Her other hand held up a shield to protect her, knowing the king could attack from any side.

Rex closed his eyes, enabling his telekinetic awareness to precisely map his surroundings, even amidst the chaos. He could sense the location of everyone, including the Goblin King, tracking each of their movements.

The monster bent down and grabbed a huge boulder, at least the size of a horse cart, while the dust hid it. It was able to lift the huge stone and throw it right at where Helena stood, even though she couldn’t see it through the dust cloud. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮

Helena had no idea that death was approaching her quickly, and she was uncertain about how to defend herself.

That chance made Rex smirk with sinister knowledge, aware that this moment could bring him even closer to Helena in the future. It was something that had to be repaid after what he was about to do.

"HELENAAAA!!!" Rex shouted, filled with determination, trying to sound like a hero ready to sacrifice himself.

He ran through the dust, his telekinesis guiding him straight to Helena’s location. She came out of the fog just as he got there, and her eyes went wide when she saw him running toward her.

"Rex? What are you—"
