2910 Heavenly Ecosystem

In a vast landscape in the sky, countless creatures swarmed the skies, swimming about in the air, dipping about in and out of clouds. Oddly enough, they resembled aquatic lifeforms, with a main body that was equipped with fin like appendages that allowed them to maneuver across the entirety of the heavens.

Their bodies floated in the air, unbothered by gravity, as they gently maneuvered about the sky with casual ease. They moved in large swarms and groups, resembling a singular larger fish that gently made its way across the vast skies.

The sheer scale of their numbers was daunting, with as many in a group as cells in a human being.

"What the hell is that?" Sage Sekiei muttered with a confused expression, standing at the edge of a distant cliff, beholding an entire ecosystems of life that treated the heavens as a medium to exist in.

Elder Diana sharpened her eyes with a frosty expression. "…They're foam lifeforms, according to the Dawnbringer's system of thought. They're creatures made from substances that are lower in density compared to the atmosphere, allowing them to float in it as marine lifeforms float in the ocean."

The Martial Sages of the Heaven Sect had the fortune of scouting their enemies before they were attacked, giving them an advantage that the other Martial Sages didn't have. They studied the foam lifeforms from a great distance, hiding their presence from the strange alien beasts, trying to understand what the best course of action.

"Given that the heavens are their literal mediums of existence," another Martial Sages of the Heaven Sect remarked, "we can assume that they have special mastery over the heavens."

Elder Diana's expression grew arrogant. "So do we. We have the greatest mastery of heaven in the entire continent, no one is our equal."

Perhaps other groups of Martial Sages would have taken the prudence of forming an actual plan our of caution, but unfortunately, the arrogance baked into the very blood of these Martial Sages was too deep.

"Attack." Her tone was calm, yet fierce.

RUMBLE!!!

In the blink of an eye, the fifteen Martial Sages of the Heaven Sect surged forth with tremendous vigor and power, launching a powerful surge of heaven-bending attacks of winds, sound, pressure, and other principles to ambush their opponents.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMM!!!

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMM!!!

The foam lifeforms grew agitated as entire massive groups of these creatures converged upon the Martial Sages of the Heaven Sect, threatening to destroy them where they stood.

Unfortunately, they underestimated the sheer power of the Martial Sages of humanity.

"Omni-Heaven Rend."

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMM!!!

A tremendously destructive wave of pressure converged on every single Martial Sage among them, allowing them to deal a tremendous amount of damage to their enemies with singular attacks.

Sage Sekiei, the Heavenly Blade, was particularly well-equipped for this battle, allowing them to deal with an extraordinary amount of damage. His ability to distribute damage so far has directly allowed him to kill hundreds of thousands of foam monsters with each attack.

The foam fish weren't even individually quasi-Transcendent, but were so good at dogpiling their opponents with endless numbers from each direction that they could easily hunt quasi-Transcendent monsters.

Their bodies swam across the heavens with tremendous power, allowing them to converge upon their target with a fearsome velocity and pressure him, among their many peers. And yet, he didn't once falter.

"Rargh!" Sage Sekiei roared as he unleashed a barrage of countless attacks converging upon him. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMM!!!

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMM!!!

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMM!!!

Ever since his battle with Rui, his arrogance had grown tempered with a deep sense of dissatisfaction, causing him to train aggressively and in a dedicated manner. Even though the battle had been a draw, people had treated him as though he had lost the battle. This was infuriating treatment from not just his peers but also Martial Masters, who had lost respect for him. On top of that, in his case, there was no deniability. He had failed to defeat a Martial Master in front of everyone.

Things had gotten better after Rui had broken through to the Sage Realm and accomplished some even more mind-bending feats that destroyed everybody's conception of what was right and wrong.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMM!!!

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMM!!!

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMM!!!

While the other Martial Sages battled large numbers of groups of weaker individual creatures, Elder Diana distanced herself from her fellow Martial Sages, going beyond them as her eyes were fixed on one and only one creature in the distance.

It had a stunningly pristine, humanoid, paper-white body.

From its back emerged several white fathered wings.

It had five pairs of fully mature wings from its back, and a sixth pair that had yet to fully mature.

A quasi-Transcendent angel.

Its gaze converged upon the Elder with its many inhuman eyes, peppered across its entire body, as the two faced off against each other.

One moment, the air was silent.

Still.

The very next, all hell broke loose.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMM!!!

With a flap of its wings, the angel unleashed an entire tornado of extraordinary power converging upon Elder Diana with great momentum.

And yet, it never reached.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMM!!!

With a powerful breathing technique, she deployed a vast amount of power and a flood of materia prima from the very heavens themselves to unleash a powerful shockwave. She heaved another powerful breath as a faint murmur escaped her. "Heavenly Prison."

WHOOSH

The angel froze where it stood as a powerful convergence of pressure shackled it very much, unwilling to permit it to move. Elder Diana sharpened her gaze as she unleashed a tremendously powerful shockwave, a tremendously powerful pulse of destruction towards the Angel.

Moments before the attack struck, the angel pushed itself to deploy ten of its wings to manipulate the heavens with an astronomical intensity, dispelling the pressure that she placed on it, just barely managing to protect itself from her destructive onslaught.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMM!!!

The creature surged through heaven at astronomically high speed as it launched countless blasts of heaven through the sky as the two began a powerful one-on-one duel that shook the very heavens. a
