The Power Of Wrath-Chapter 20: Funny Civilization
Chapter 20: Funny Civilization
Between the time the direhog had spent fighting its opponent and then eating it completely, Rio's mind had recovered to a point and he waved the energetic beast over as he stood to his feet and began heading for the waterfall.
Yipping, while head-butting themselves, they followed after Rio. The three of them walked over the moist sandy soil in the area they had fought before then transitioning to a black stony ground.
After climbing a smooth narrow path pressed against the wall from which the water fell, the group went behind the waterfall and found themselves standing in front of a wide cave.
Looking at the carvings on the walls that led into the cave, Rio confirmed the presence of sentient life in the area, but his stomach churned at the thought of him entering the cave.
Rio just couldn't believe that he had slaughtered 13 men in front of the entrance to their village and no one had come to help. Unless those people were the only fighters of their village, it didn't make sense.
"What do you think"
"Yip, yip" the two-headed direhog barked playfully, but then their expressions became serious and growling in a direction outside the waterfall they took off.
Not thinking twice and trusting the direhog's judgement, Rio burst into a sprint, his figure shooting out of the waterfall seconds before the direhog who had begun moving first.
As Rio's body came back under the brilliance of the sun his eyes scanned for any abnormalities around and seeing a pair of eyes look at him in shock and then run away in terror, he gave pursuit.
Through closely nested trees and tall thick bushes, they ran, the figures of Rio and the two-headed beast moved side by side as they gave pursuit.
Unrelenting, their figures kept on the tail of the fleeing barbarian and at some time they could not point out, they found themselves free of the pointy bushes and tall trees of the forest and in a plain filled with flowers beautified by butterflies littered around.
Rio's eyes widened at the scenery and he soon came to a stop as he found himself standing on a hill which looked down on a plethora of not just huts but also beautifully designed wooden buildings some of which even had floors to them with the one at the centre having three.
"How did their building industry advance so much but not their sense of clothing."
Rio's attention was brought back to his target by the growl of the two-headed direhog but rather than give pursuit, he fell on his butt running his hands through the softness of the meadow.
"Forget about him, he's served his purpose"

If Rio wanted the man dead, his life would have been extinguished a long time ago, but it was not his desire.
His presence in an area where he could see a developing civilization no matter how backward was Rio's desire and for now, he was satisfied.
While enjoying the breeze that blew over him, Rio's eyes scanned through the village below, noticing that its inhabitants had not noticed his presence and were busy going about their day.
He noticed that just like the men he had killed earlier, those in the village dressed the same way except without any sort of weapon and for the women other than also having beast skins tied around their chests, unlike the female warriors, most had long skirts made of beast skin with some of them even having designs, a slit being quite popular.
"Women and beauty."
Still exploring the village Rio's eyes were brought back to the man who had led him here, his eyes watching as the man rapidly descended the hill with panic and fear.
Rio expected him to run straight to the house at the center with the news that his team had been wiped out but while the man made a course for the centre building, he didn't do so quietly.
He went screaming out some nonsense which Rio couldn't understand through the village and then he pointed his hands up at the hill behind him, his actions making people look up at the hill and notice him.
It didn't take long for a crowd to form at the foot of the hill, fear in their eyes as they stared at the two-headed direhog like it was a demon from hell.
"What did you do " Rio asked suspecting the answer considering he had been with it right from its birth.
Other than a whine, the beast happily rolled around the meadow ignoring the problems that were piling up below.
"As easy as it should be to kill them, I doubt I have the stamina to face off against such a massive village and also, I can't be sure there aren't any strong individuals in here.
I should be ready to retreat at anytime."
While Rio decided to relax and be passive for the time being, news of his arrival and the circumstances that surrounded it was reaching the building at the center of the village.
......
In a massive hall with a dozen people dressed in white robes made out of silk and standing on either side of a big iron throne, a young man with long brown hair covered in a shiny black fur cloak walked in.
His presence had the lax expression on the faces of the people in silk hardening while the few guards who stood at the sides of the wall straightened up and held their weapons more tightly.
Without a word and having a frown on his face, the man walked towards the throne, passing by the elegant-dressed men who bowed their heads as he passed and sat on it.
Relaxing into his throne, the man closed his eyes and went silent only opening them several seconds later when footsteps began sounding in the hall, three tall men covered in fur coats entering and after bowing to him standing to the side.
"Bring Kalios in here"
