The Psychopathic Beast Emperor-Chapter 119: Sel and Rakia’s Relationship
The corridor outside the healing wing was brighter than either of them expected. After hours in that cool, dim room, the open air of the sect halls felt almost alive. Henut had allowed them to leave earlier in the morning, but they’d decided to stay longer and rest. And also have some time for themselves. Well, nothing much happened apart from kissing and cuddles. That was all.
Bahamut and Exildra stepped out together, their fingers interlocked. They were now in their sect uniforms with their crests fully displayed on them.
Exildra gripped Bahamut’s hand so firmly that he could feel the strain on his hand. It was as if she were afraid he would disappear. An eyepatch sat neatly over her right eye, a clean strip of dark cloth tied behind her head. It didn’t diminish her beauty but rather gave it a new depth. Her beauty was now sharper and special in a strange way.
Bahamut glanced at her face briefly, his blindfolded eyes trailing to her beautiful and cute lips. His expression didn’t change, but Exildra noticed him licking his lips.
They hadn’t taken more than a few steps before familiar figures came into view.
Sel, Apollonia, Rakia, and Ren, who sat on Sel’s shoulder.
Sel stood at the center, his hands placed behind him with his usual calm yet alert expression. His blue eyes immediately looked at their entwined hands, and he couldn’t help but smile. Ren just shook his head and took a huge bite of the bread in his hand. Well, that bite finished everything.
Beside him stood Apollonia, with her tall, composed, and cold expression. Her golden hair was tied neatly behind her back. Her wings were also neatly folded behind her, giving her a regal look.
Rakia stood on Sel’s right. She leaned slightly to one side, with her arms crossed, and a sharp gaze scanning Bahamut and Exildra with open curiosity.
This action surprised Exildra greatly because her senior Rakia was always reserved and too "mind your own business-like."
"Finally," Sel said, walking closer towards him. "You two really took your time. Miss Henut told us that she released you in the morning."
Bahamut’s lips twitched as he noticed the look in Sel’s eyes.
’This motherfucker...’
Exildra smiled faintly. "We were resting more."
"Yeah... resting more..." Sel said with narrowed eyes. Ren let out an amused whistle, clearly entertained.
"I’m glad you’re alright," Apollonia stepped forward slightly, her gaze settling on Exildra. "I’m glad Bahamut’s method worked, otherwise..."
Her next statement caused everyone to stay silent. Their gazes drifted to Bahamut, who was trying his very best to hide his expression, but it was a futile battle.
They knew what he would have done. Exildra squeezed Bahamut’s hand. She knew and understood. Even though they had just started a relationship, they’ve moved so far in such a few days that if anything happened to either of them, the other would break completely.
"You did something insane..." Sel said. "But it worked. You are now a..." He stopped.
"A what?" Bahamut asked in confusion, but Rakia cut in.
Rakia’s gaze flicked toward Exildra, lingering briefly on the eyepatch. There was no pity in her eyes, but acknowledgement.
"You held on. Not many would," Rakia said.
Exildra met her gaze evenly. "I didn’t have the luxury of letting go."
For a brief moment, something unspoken passed between them.
A shared understanding.
Then the mood lightened again. Sel shifted his stance slightly, and as he did, his shoulder brushed against Rakia’s.
Neither of them moved away. It was subtle.
But Bahamut noticed. Of course he did. His eyes flicked between them once... then again, more deliberately this time.
A slow grin spread across his face.
"Well, well..." he drawled, staring right at Sel. Sel stiffened, his expression twisted.
Bahamut tilted his head, his smile widening like a demon’s.
"Something you wanna share with us?"
Rakia blinked in confusion and surprise. Sel inhaled so deeply that it felt as if he was planning to suck in all the air.
"The class? What class?" Sel asked in a flat tone.
"You know what I mean. You and senior Rakia. I saw how worried she was when the ghoul injured you, and now..." Bahamut said.
"There’s nothing... Just sect members..." Sel cut in sharply and quickly.
"Uh-huh."
Rakia looked between them, then rolled her eyes. "If you’re about to start something, don’t."
"Oh, I’m definitely starting something," Bahamut said. "This is valuable information. Strategic, even."
Sel stepped forward immediately, cutting off whatever nonsense Bahamut was about to unleash.
"Our masters want to see us."
Everyone instantly figured out what Sel was trying to do, no matter how true the information was. He was trying to dodge the question.
"Elder Silvia and Elder Iset specifically asked for all of us. The Chief Elder would also be there."
Apollonia straightened slightly at that.
Rakia’s expression sharpened.
Exildra’s fingers tightened around Bahamut’s hand again, this time not from comfort but anticipation.
That wasn’t a casual summons.
Bahamut studied Sel for a moment longer, his grin slowly fading into something more thoughtful.
Then he exhaled lightly.
"Alright," he said. "We’ll let you escape... for now."
Exildra nudged Bahamut lightly. "Focus."
He sighed dramatically. "Fine, fine. Let’s go meet the elders who are definitely not about to complicate our lives."
"Don’t let them hear this..." Apollonia said with a chuckle.
Bahamut was the only one who could make her break out of her cold exterior. He was an unhinged maniac.
...
"I wanted to meet you guys?" Elder Silvia looked at the group of five and the bunny with narrowed eyes. She was draped in a slightly tight-fitting blue dress that accentuated her curves, which were beyond average. Her robes hid all those curves. Bahamut nearly whistled.
"Sel told us," Bahamut said instantly, making her sharp gaze settle on the silver-haired elf.
"I said it so that he would come and see you, now that he is awake," Sel countered sharply and shamelessly. Bahamut nearly choked on his next words.
"I can see that they are alright," Elder Silvia said with a smile, then her eyes widened as if she had just remembered something.
"You will be receiving your mission rewards soon. Now get out."
Bahamut and the group streamed out of Elder Silvia’s residence with flat faces, though their piercing gazes were on Sel. The elven youth acted as if nothing had happened. If stares could kill, Sel would have died a thousand times over.
"Just tell them..." Apollonia suddenly said, looking at both Sel and Rakia.
Sel looked at Rakia.
Rakia sighed and spoke.
"Sel is my brother-in-law. I am engaged to his elder brother. That’s all..."
For a moment, the world froze. Sel nodded once, as if that explanation neatly tied everything together.
Bahamut blinked.
He slowly turned his head toward Sel, then toward Rakia, and then back to Sel again. His expression remained completely blank.
"...That’s all?" he repeated.
Rakia raised a brow. "Yes. That’s all."
There was another pause.
Then Bahamut turned to Exildra.
"...Did you understand that?"
Exildra, who had been just as still, brought a hand to her chin thoughtfully.
"No," she said calmly. "But I feel like I should pretend I did to maintain dignity."
"Right?" Bahamut snapped his fingers, suddenly animated. "Exactly! Because what do you mean ’that’s all’?! That is not a ’that’s all’ statement! That’s a whole plot twist!"
Sel pinched the bridge of his nose.
"It’s not that complicated."
Bahamut spun toward him immediately.
"Not complicated?" he echoed, voice rising. "You’ve been standing there this whole time like some mysterious lone wolf, and now suddenly, boom, you come with family lore?"
Rakia crossed her arms. "You’re overreacting."
"I am reacting the correct amount," Bahamut shot back. "Possibly even underreacting. I feel like I should be on the floor right now."
Exildra nodded thoughtfully. "You probably should be."
"Thank you," Bahamut said, pointing at her in agreement.
Apollonia sighed, though there was the faintest hint of amusement in her eyes.
"It explains their familiarity," she said. "And why they coordinate so well during missions."
"That’s not the point!" Bahamut insisted. "The point is..."
He pointed dramatically at Sel. "he hid this!"
"I didn’t hide anything," Sel replied flatly.
"You absolutely hid this," Bahamut said. "You omitted vital information. Strategic information. Emotional damage-level information."
Rakia looked unimpressed. "Why would it matter to you?"
Bahamut placed a hand over his chest.
"Because trust has been shattered," he said solemnly.
Exildra leaned slightly toward him. "You met him like... a few weeks ago."
"Time is irrelevant when betrayal is involved," Bahamut replied immediately.
Sel stared at him.
Then turned to Exildra.
"...You deal with this?"
Exildra smiled faintly. "I’m also new to this."
"Tragic," Sel muttered.
Bahamut suddenly narrowed his eyes again, his mind clearly spinning.
"Wait," he said slowly.
Everyone groaned internally.
"Don’t," Sel warned.
"Oh no," Rakia muttered. "He’s thinking."
Bahamut ignored them.
He stepped closer to Sel, squinting at him like he was solving a puzzle.
"Brother-in-law means... your elder brother is engaged to her..." he said, pointing at Rakia.
"Yes," Sel replied.
"...Which means your elder brother exists."
"Yes."
"...Which means there is a stronger version of you walking around somewhere."
Sel paused.
"...That’s not..."
Bahamut gasped dramatically.
"There are two of you?!"
"There are not two of me," Sel said flatly.
"There is potentially a worse you," Bahamut corrected.
Rakia snorted despite herself. Apollonia turned her face slightly, clearly hiding a smile. Exildra just shook her head, her shoulders trembling faintly with suppressed laughter.
Sel’s expression darkened.
"You’re done," he said.
"I’m not done," Bahamut shot back instantly. "I have questions. Important questions."
"This fucker..."
