The Psychopathic Beast Emperor-Chapter 120: You Actually Like Senior Apollonia?!
Bahamut, Sel, and Ren sat on their roof balcony, gazing into the sky. The sun was just setting, and the sky looked beautiful with its red-orange hues. Bahamut’s blindfold was off as he lay with his hands behind his head on the floor of the roof.
Sel sat by him, absentmindedly cleaning a silver dagger with a blue gem embedded in the hilt.
Ren had transformed into his five-foot form and copied Bahamut’s position of sleeping.
"So, do you have anyone you like? Sel?" Bahamut suddenly asked.
Sel didn’t answer at the moment. He continued cleaning his dagger while his blue eyes reflected the glow of the sunset. His expression was serene and calm as always.
There was silence for about two minutes before he talked.
"I don’t think it would work..." Sel said with a deep exhale as if he’d already accepted the truth. A truth Bahamut didn’t know about.
"What do you mean it won’t work? Have you tried? And who is it?" Bahamut looked at him in confusion.
"Why is it important? It won’t work anyways..." Sel said in a flat tone.
"Maybe I could help you with it..."
"Nuh-uh. I’d rather stay as I am."
"Is it Exildra?" Bahamut asked, almost making Sel run his finger along the blade of the dagger.
"Bro, what the-! She’s your girlfriend, and if you don’t know, once an elf lady gets fated with someone, she becomes untouchable by other elves in the aspects of love and relationships." Sel exclaimed in horror, but Bahamut ignored him.
"Exactly. That’s why I mentioned her first..." Bahamut said with a mischievous smile.
"How bad do you want to fight with me?" Sel asked with a sigh.
"On the level of how bad I want to break my virginity..."
""Sus..." Ren commented from the side, making Bahamut’s eye twitch. "Does Exildra know of this side of you?"
"I suddenly feel like eating a bunny..." Bahamut threatened is a dark tone.
"Eww dude! I’m a guy!" Ren said with a scared expression.
"This motherfucker..."
"Hehe! Classic..." Ren nodded his head in triumph making Bahamut release hot air from his nostrils like a bull.
"You two can never go a day without arguing like monkeys..." Sel said with a scowl.
"Just tell us who the lucky girl is!" Bahamut shot back.
"Not telling..."
"Is it Rakia?"
"She’s engaged to my brother."
"Apollonia?"
Silence!
Sel went silent, his blue eyes piercing into Bahamut as if he’d committed a blasphemy.
"You actually like Senior Apollonia?!" Bahamut completely ignored the death stare he was receiving and asked with a shocked expression.
He crawled towards the elven boy, held his face and looked into his eyes.
"You like the eagle lady?!"
"Get off my face asshole!" Sel pushed him off.
"Never! Until you confirm it!" Bahamut caught his face again, throwing spittle on his face.
"This crazy idiot!" Sel pushed him off again and pointed his dagger at him.
"This crazy idiot!" Sel snapped, shoving Bahamut back and raising his dagger. The blue gem embedded in its hilt flickered faintly, catching the last rays of the sunset.
Bahamut didn’t even flinch.
He just sat there on the rooftop, legs crossed now, grinning like he had just uncovered the greatest secret in the sect.
"Ohhh, look at you," Bahamut said, pointing accusingly. "You pulled a weapon. That means I’m right."
"That means you’re annoying," Sel shot back flatly.
Ren, still lying on his back in his five-foot form, turned his head lazily to watch the drama unfold like it was premium entertainment.
"This is better than training," he muttered.
"You stay out of this," Sel said without even looking at him.
"No," Ren replied immediately.
Bahamut clapped once. "Focus! This is a critical moment. A confession arc is happening."
"There is no confession," Sel said.
"There is a confession," Bahamut corrected. "You just don’t know it yet."
Sel stared at him, long and hard, then slowly lowered the dagger.
"...You’re impossible."
"And you’re in love," Bahamut fired back instantly.
"I am not."
"With Apollonia."
Sel froze.
Ren slowly sat up.
"...Oh?" he said, suddenly very invested.
Bahamut gasped dramatically and pointed. "SEE?! THAT PAUSE! That was not a normal pause! That was a guilty pause!"
"It was a ’why am I still here’ pause," Sel said.
"Liar."
"Idiot."
"Lover boy."
Sel’s eye twitched.
Bahamut leaned in again, lowering his voice like he was sharing forbidden knowledge.
"You went quiet when I mentioned her," he said. "You didn’t deny it. You didn’t deflect. You just... stared at me like I exposed your soul."
Ren nodded sagely. "Classic behavior."
"Stop analyzing me like I’m some kind of specimen," Sel snapped.
"You are a specimen," Bahamut said. "A rare one. Emotionally constipated with a hidden romantic core."
"...I’m going to stab you."
"You won’t," Bahamut said confidently. "Because deep down, you’re soft."
The dagger flicked up again.
"Try me."
Bahamut raised his hands. "Okay, okay... violence aside, let’s be real for a second."
Sel said nothing.
Bahamut’s tone shifted slightly, still playful... but a bit more grounded.
"She’s strong," he said. "Calm, reliable, always watching out for the team, doesn’t talk much, but when she does, it matters."
Sel’s grip on the dagger tightened slightly.
Ren leaned forward, chin in his hand, fully hooked.
"And you," Bahamut continued, pointing at Sel, "you respect strength. You like people who don’t waste words. People who just... do things."
Sel looked away. That was the second clue.
Bahamut’s grin softened into something knowing.
"Plus," he added casually, "you always listen when she speaks. Even when you pretend not to." 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚
Silence.
The sky had deepened into a darker orange now, the sun dipping lower beyond the horizon.
The wind picked up slightly.
Sel exhaled slowly.
"...You talk too much," he muttered.
"That’s not a denial," Ren chimed in.
Sel glared at him.
Ren immediately looked away and started whistling.
Bahamut leaned back onto his hands, watching Sel carefully now.
"No one said it has to work," he said. "You said that yourself."
Sel’s jaw tightened slightly.
"But that doesn’t mean you can’t like her."
Silence stretched again, this time... heavier.
Sel stared at the dagger in his hand.
The blue gem reflected the fading light, dimming with the sun.
"...She’s out of my league," he said finally.
Bahamut blinked.
Then, he burst out laughing.
Sel’s head snapped toward him. "What’s so funny?!"
"That," Bahamut said between laughs, pointing at him, "that right there! That’s the problem!"
Sel frowned. "What problem?"
"You think in leagues," Bahamut said. "Since when did feelings start following power rankings?"
Ren nodded enthusiastically. "Yeah, that’s stupid."
Sel looked between the two of them like he had been cursed with terrible company.
"You don’t get it," he said.
"Then explain it," Bahamut shot back.
Sel hesitated.
Then exhaled.
"...She’s different," he said quietly. "She’s focused and clear. She knows what she wants."
"And?" Bahamut pressed.
"...I don’t."
That landed. For once, Bahamut didn’t immediately joke. Sel looked back at the horizon.
"I don’t even know what I’m doing half the time," he continued. "I just move forward because it’s easier than stopping."
Ren’s expression softened slightly.
"And you think she wouldn’t accept that?" Bahamut asked.
Sel shook his head. "It’s not about acceptance."
"Then what is it about?"
Sel didn’t answer immediately.
"...It wouldn’t work," he repeated, quieter this time.
Bahamut stared at him for a few seconds.
Then sighed dramatically and flopped back onto the rooftop again.
"You’re exhausting," he declared.
Sel frowned. "What?"
"You like her," Bahamut said bluntly. "That’s already confirmed. Everything else you’re saying is just you overthinking yourself into a corner."
Ren pointed. "Facts."
Sel looked like he wanted to argue.
Then stopped. He sighed in defeat.
"...Fine," he muttered.
Bahamut sat up instantly. "Wait... what?"
Sel dragged a hand down his face.
"...I like her," he said.
Silence.
Then...
"HE SAID IT!" Bahamut shouted, jumping to his feet.
Ren jumped up too. "HE SAID IT!"
"Sit down!" Sel snapped, face tightening.
"You like the eagle lady!" Bahamut continued, pacing dramatically. "This is historic! This is monumental! This is..."
"I regret everything," Sel muttered.
Ren leaned in toward him with a grin. "So, when’s the wedding?"
Sel picked up a small stone and threw it directly at Ren’s forehead.
THUNK.
"Ow! Assault!"
Bahamut laughed so hard he nearly fell off the roof. Sel just sat there, glaring at the sky like it had personally betrayed him.
"...I should’ve kept quiet," he muttered.
"Too late," Bahamut said, wiping a tear from his eye. "Information has been acquired. It cannot be unlearned."
Ren nodded seriously. "We will remember this forever."
Sel groaned and leaned back, finally lying down beside them.
The three of them stared up at the darkening sky.
"...You’re not telling anyone else," Sel said after a moment.
Bahamut crossed his fingers behind his head.
"No promises."
Sel turned his head slowly.
"...I will actually stab you."
"Okay, okay... temporary promise," Bahamut amended.
Ren snorted.
The stars began to appear, one by one.
And despite everything, Sel didn’t take it back. He liked his senior... that was all.
