The Psychopathic Beast Emperor-Chapter 75: Daily Quest
Morning arrived without ceremony. There was no trumpet, no bell, and no mystical sunrise speech about destiny.
Just weight.
Something warm, soft, and annoyingly fluffy was pressed squarely against Bahamut’s face, whiskers twitching faintly with each tiny breath, cutting off half his breathing. His brows twitched first, then his fingers moved, before his instinct kicked in.
He inhaled sharply and stopped.
"This is not death," he muttered.
He lifted one hand and felt it.
Long ears... One of them flopped directly over his eyes like a fuzzy blindfold upgrade he did not request.
"Ren..."
The bunny was sprawled across him like a victorious creature that had claimed territory in the night. His small body was curled comfortably against his face, his nose twitching once every second, tail puffed up, as his ears drooped lazily as he slept with absolute trust.
Bahamut lay still, not because he couldn’t move, but because moving would absolutely wake him up, and experience had taught him that a startled bunny was a weapon of mass chaos, especially one as unhinged as Ren.
"You sleep like you are in your house," Bahamut said flatly.
THUMP.
Ren’s hind leg kicked once in his sleep. Bahamut just sighed in response, preparing to calmly and gently take him off, but...
[WARNING: SYSTEM INTERFACE ACTIVE]
[USER STATUS: UNSTABLE]
[DAILY SEQUENCE INITIATED]
The crimson glow of the system cut straight through Bahamut’s unavailable vision. The screen hovered inches from his face, its sharp edges pulsing like a heartbeat.
Ren stirred immediately, while his ears shot straight up.
"Kyu?!"
He jolted awake, eyes wide, his pupils dilated, while his instincts screamed danger. In one smooth motion, he launched himself off Bahamut’s face, flipping midair and landing in a crouch on the floor, his ears rigid and tail puffed out.
"System... You’re being dramatic," Bahamut said calmly, sitting up. He looked around and noticed that Sel wasn’t in his bed, which was to the left of him. The sun was just rising, meaning it was early morning or dawn.
Ren stared at him, then at the screen that had turned red, then back at him.
"I was on your face..." Ren said softly, horrified.
"Yes."
"Why didn’t you move?"
"You looked comfortable."
Ren made a strangled noise and covered his face with his ears.
"You felt my..." he said with a whimper, making Bahamut turn to him with a horrified expression.
"Blergh! Don’t you dare sleep on my face again!!!"
"Motherfucker! It was intentional!"
The system didn’t care, though. It flashed with another message.
[SYSTEM NOTICE]
[MEMORY ANALYSIS: COMPLETE]
[REFERENCE SOURCE: HOST]
[SUBCONSCIOUS PREFERENCES]
[STATUS: COPIED & ADAPTED]
Bahamut tilted his head, his expression turning bad by the second. "Copied what?"
[Replying Host...]
[Based on your complaints about the system being wicked and different from one in books you read in one of your past lives, the system decided to sift through your memories of that life, and adapt.]
The response of the system made Bahamut’s face twist in horror and fright.
"Haha! You and your big mouth!" Ren didn’t waste the opportunity to throw a jab at him.
"Piss off!"
The red faded, replaced by gold.
[ITEM: POWER SUPPRESSOR SET (Tier 2)]
(INCOMPLETE SEAL TYPE)
[STATUS: BOUND]
The system projected two dark metallic suppressors, one designed as a collar, and the others for wrists, etched with scar-like symbols.
Ren crept closer, curiosity getting the best of him as he stared at the system screen.
"Those feel scary," he said, his ears drooping slightly.
"I can see that..." Bahamut said absentmindedly as he went to the description of the suppressors.

Bahamut’s face twisted in frustration at this.
"That sounds very... healthy," Ren commented from the side, earning a sharp glare from Bahamut.
But the system wasn’t done...

...
Ren stared at the screen and at Bahamut’s twitching face, and couldn’t choose whether to cry, run away, or laugh his heart out.
"You’re going to die," Ren said as he slowly backed away from Bahamut.
"I suddenly want to eat rabbit," Bahamut said coldly, his blind eyes locking onto Ren, who was almost close to the entrance of the room.
"I’m a bunny, for your information. And I am still a human!"
"That won’t stop me, bastard!"
"Oi! I’m not the one who called the system wicked!"
"I didn’t mean for it to give me suppressors and a death path!"
Ren’s ears flattened a bit. "You literally asked it to copy your memories."
"That was a metaphor!"
They glared at each other across the room, Bahamut radiating murderously offended dignity, while Ren vibrated with prey-level panic.
Then...
They heard footsteps... measured, and calm.
Both of them froze. Ren’s ears shot straight up.
Bahamut’s expression went flat in an instant, all madness sealed behind a mask of indifference. His posture relaxed, his aura reined in so fast it was terrifying.
Ren scrambled, leaping onto the bed and collapsing into an innocent loaf of fur, his eyes half-lidded, his ears drooping just enough to look cute and utterly harmless.
The door slowly slid open as Sel stepped in.
He took one look at the room, then at Bahamut’s face: pale, veins faintly visible as his temple, his jaw clenched like he was chewing invisible nails.
"Good morning," Sel said carefully.
Silence followed.
Bahamut did not speak. He just nodded and averted his eyes.
Sel then frowned.
"Why do you look like you lost a fight with your stomach?"
Bahamut exhaled slowly through his nose, trying his best to keep calm.
If only Sel could see the suicidal stuff he was required to do...
