The Return Of His Ex Wife-Chapter 46: Feelings
Chapter 46: Feelings
Melissa’s POV
I didn’t understand what his deal was, but Donovan would just not stop calling. "Hey," I said at last after picking his call. "What the hell? Why have you been calling since!"
"Why won’t I call? You said that we have something to do. That you have plans for you know who. And why have you been ignoring my calls?" He asked with a defensive tone.
"Just chill, okay? I told you to hold on on our plan. There are eyes on us right now."
"This is why I’m always so worried about you, Melissa. I hate working for you. Why do you keep forgetting about what happened the last time!" He said and I instantly hated the way he spoke.
"What is wrong with you? Why do you keep acting like the whole world centers around just you? I told you I will get back to you when the time is right, so why won’t you just stop right now? Or are you trying to threaten me?"
"Who’s threatening you?"
The voice I heard next sent me shivering. I had not expect it at all; that Derek will be stalking me all about? I blinked, cracking my head of what to say to him not to throw him off guard. Of course, I had ended the call immediately.
"What?" I tried to play the innocent card. "Who’s threatening who?"
"You know what I’m talking about." Derek said, frowning his face.
I swallowed, "oh, it’s nothing."
"This isn’t about that fool who thinks he can harm you? Desdra told me all about him, you see."
Desdra?
"Oh, she did? I didn’t want to get you all stressed up. Yes, it’s him now. And I mean, he is just so annoying. I’m not sure he knows I am relayed to the greatest Marisol household." I tried to pretend, hoping he wouldn’t catch up on me and my acting. freewebnoveℓ.com
Then as if to make things all worse, Donovan began to call again. And on repeat!
"Melissa, seriously, who is this?" Derek was prompted to ask again.
"It’s nobody. Just ignore, okay?" I hoped my voice had been strong enough for him to believe, before walking away from his sight. Derek and I were never really close anyway. Our marriage destroyed clearly after he found out about my secret three years ago. I know that much already.
Once in the kitchen, I picked up my phone that had been ringing plenty of times from Donovan calls. "Jesus Christ! What the hell is wrong with you, Donovan? My husband is at home, I’m at home with him. I mean, what are you expecting?"
"You are crossing the line here, my love. I mean, I do care about you, but you still gotta be careful."
I was forced to laugh at his statement. "This must be a joke now. I am crossing the line? You’re the one crossing the line, Donovan. You know now that Derek is starting to get suspicious, he will really deal the hell out of you. Derek will be so certain to ruin your life. I think you should not forget just how powerful I still am."
"You keep denying me when ever I make claims about my real daughter. Fuck, Melissa, you know Nina is mine! I even gave you that name. Remember?"
"Nina isn’t yours, she belongs to Derek and I!" I continued to admit...at least maybe someday soon, this will become true. Nina is my child and she belongs to Derek too.
"You know what, whatever you say, my love. I’m just telling you. When Derek does DNA at last, we’ll see who’s right and who’s wrong."
"I have a better idea, because I care about you. Let’s just cancel the plan that we have made. I mean, no more teaching Tara a lesson, end all this shenanigans with her punishment and all of that. So we can end things once and for all, does that sound right? Because this is me being nice and doing you a favor." He muttered something under his breath and I had a feeling of what he had said. "Yes, that’s right. No need to kidnap Tara again, okay?"
Suddenly, I felt a strange aura in the kitchen with me, like some unknown presence had been in the room as well. When I turned back, I found Derek glaring at me with wide open eyes.
"What?" He asked completely confused or maybe he was now starting to get suspicious.
I quickly hung up the call and brought my attention to Derek. "What? Oh it’s nothing, don’t mind that at all."
"Don’t mind what? I clearly heard Tara’s name just now. What is going on? Is Desdra putting you up to this?"
I used that to my advantage and quickly nodded. "I didn’t want you to know but she has been making some weird plans concerning punishing Tara and all."
Derek smacked his lips, eyes glinting with anger tinge of anger. "This isn’t right. I knew it. Melissa, don’t listen to her at all. She has caused enough of problems by now, I don’t want you to be a part of this."
"I know." I pretended as If I was following. But truth he told, I didn’t want
"Just stay at home here and take care of my daughter. Why are you always with Desdra all the time! What is wrong with you?" Derek continued to pour out his anger.
As I still stayed there watching him act all worried and worked up, I noticed he got so glued to his phone reading and rereading through a message.
"Who’s that?" I leaned forward to take a sneak peak of the picture or message but Derek quickly removed it from the screen and hid his phone in his pocket as if it was nothing.
He turned and was about to leave at first after assuring me it was nothing, but something stopped him again. "It’s from Donovan, whoever the fuck this guy is." He seemed angry as he spoke.
I swallowed, hoping he wouldn’t start to suspect more than he already did. "Oh, that same psycho who’s been threatening me."
"He sent a picture of the two of you in uni days. You seem so close together that it makes me wonder now that you claim you’re enemies."
"Those pictures are probably photoshopped. I can assure you on that. I swear it. This man is really a psycho who’s after my life now that he sees that I’m married to a rich man." Hopefully, the fear in my eyes would not be visible by Derek. Hopefully...
"Alright then, let’s hope it’s as you’re saying." He concluded before leaving.
"Oh Donovan, I hope you’re really smarter than this." I thought to myself. Otherwise, Derek would really deal with Donovan more than he can imagine.
Derek’s POV
"Hey, what exactly are you saying?" I was saying to Ronaldo, my PA. Clearly, he had not been understanding me at all. "This man is really suspicious. But what is worse, you know I am starting to doubt my own wife. Why haven’t you found out anything about this man?"
Ronaldo couldn’t do much but stare at the ground as if waiting for some sort of magic to happen soon. I knew he was working, still, he needed to really find out this mystery between Melissa and her strange psychopathic crush.
I didn’t know what to feel at all, other than the fact that I had been down. Very sad for some reason. I wanted to cheer up, to be all happy and glad. Desdra had finally settled the whole court case and was now registered as a free woman, even though she was stuck in debts and all. At least she had skipped jail time completely.
Basically, I was supposed to be happy already for most of the positive things that had been going on in my life. Still, why was I feeling so down like this? Melissa was not even making things easy for me at all. Was she cheating on me now that I am at my weakest?!
Buh then, maybe I couldn’t even be too angry because I too might have been cheating on her. For some reason, I can’t get Tara out of my head. No matter what I did, what I thought, all of the attempts to get my mind busy and occupied, I just couldn’t get over the fact that we were now ex lovers. I wanted to see her so bad. On days like this, she always knew just the right thing to soothe my mind.
What was this feeling? Wasn’t I over Tara already?
"This isn’t right, I just know it." I tried to confront myself, but it wasn’t really working. Something in me pushed me until before I realized it, I had carried my phone and began to dial her number. It rang for a while until later, she picked up. Hearing her voice was so calming that I thought to myself that this was like therapy itself!
"Derek? We need to talk." She said so calmly, still...why did that feel so bothersome to my ears?
