The Return Of His Ex Wife-Chapter 48: House Guest
Chapter 48: House Guest
What is the lady’s name?? Timberwood Anaya
Arlo’s POV
It was as early as 2pm in the afternoon that day, I felt a bit embarrassed showing up at her doorstep now after I had clearly straight on refused her help. But I couldn’t do it alone.
The night before must have been a clear proof to me about how hell was like, bringing it’s torture to my room that night. The horrific nightmares only grew worse!
I had planned on what to say already, only, I didn’t know how to even react if it was not Tara. Silly me began to realize Tara would still be at work by this time because Ella was the one standing before me now with a furrowed brow.
She appeared to be a little streesed with her eyes looking all lazy like she had been sleeping.
"Arlo? What are you doing here?" She asked. Her answer came up quite quickly as her eyes fell down to my leg to see a box resting beside me.
"I could have called, but I didn’t. I’m sorry about that, Ella."
She blinked, clearly not knowing how to react. "Come in, please."
I followed as she led me in. For a couple of minutes we both stood still, awkwardly staring in silence. I didn’t know much about her but I figured she must still be mad at me for confessing about Richard’s dad to him. I doubt Tara has even forgiven me wholeheartedly.
I shrugged off that thought, I was ready to move on now. "Listen Ella--"
"--I was going to check up on you! I’m sorry I didn’t, how are you? Hope you’re all better now.? I mean, a little bit better at least?"
Ella didn’t seem like someone to hate me, but I expected her to be at least a little mad at me. Not her being so overly caring like this.
I cleared my throat to give me a headstart of what to say next." Actually, I’m fine. I’m better, thanks. You know, I just wanted to apologize--"
"--are you hungry? Let me help you with that!" With speed I did not realize she had in her, she reached for my luggage and hurried down the stairs running in front. "Come, I’ll just help you set this in your room!"
My room?
"Actually, I should hurry up. I’m supposed to pick Richard up early today. Tara wants to prepare for the party and has called the attention of the fashion stylist." She babbled on as she struggled to climb upstairs. She was still so fast it surprised me.
In long strides, I reached for my bag and easily took the handle from her." It’s fine, "I said quickly as she began to struggle."Let’s leave it here until I come back. Let me go ahead and pick up Richard, I’ll call Tara on my way out. I brought a car so you don’t have to worry. It’s my brother’s school so I can find my way there."
She chuckled, "Wow, I guess that answers all of my questions. But still--"
"--I’ll leave now. Great!" I turned and began to walk towards the door. I hadn’t even reached the entrance when I began to hear her voice.
"It’s Arlo! He’s here... I think he’s staying for a..." he’d voice trailed off as she flew through the stairways going upstairs.
I was already in the car when I decided to dial Tara’s number first. The last time when she had gotten all sensitive as I got closer to Richard had been terrifying to me so I needed to let her know I would be picking him up on time. Although I began to think now that she must still be on call with Ella because clearly, Ella must have been speaking to her earlier.
But cutting me off from my thoughts was Tara’s phone call! Wait, why was she calling so quickly? Maybe to tell me not to go pick Richard? Now I was feeling hesitant to pick the call...
"Tara," finally, I said as soon as I hit the answer button, " I just want to pick him up. That’s all--"
"Arlo! I’m so happy you’ve decided to come stay with us."
I wasn’t expecting that much level of enthusiasm from her. "Okay... Aren’t you a bit too happy about that, Sunflower?"
There was a pause, "I can’t believe you’re calling me that again. You’re really better, aren’t you?"
I rolled my eyes at that. "Very better. Which is why you and Ella can stop being overcaring already. Also, Sofia sends me motivational quotes at least 50 times every day now. This has to stop." I said, mostly to myself.
Tara laughed out, but it seemed so fake I flinched. "That’s so funny, ha! I’m coming home already, what would you like to eat?"
"Wait, what? You’re closing at work already? But there’s still time."
"Was already leaving before. We’re not really doing much." she said, though I highly doubted her.
"Still, you should wait until the closing hour and come home then. I can take care of myself till then, don’t you think?"
"Of course! So... What will you eat?"
I scoffed, shaking my head for how she ignored me. "Fine. Um... What to eat? You know what, surprise me. I’m going now to pick up Richard."
"Oh... I’m not really great with surprises... But I’m such a great cook so you’re in good hands! Alright then, talk to you later."
About an hour later, everyone had settled down in the living room. A room had actually been prepared for me, not too far from Tara’s. It was a great and comfy place to be honest.
I knew Tara and her friend were very sweet ladies, but to me? They clearly had ever been this nice. I didn’t like the attention too much, but then... They look so happy treating me like a complete helpless baby.
Tara had been around not more that 15 minutes ago but had rushed into the kitchen since then. Richard was watching a movie on my phone while Ella seemed busy with doing some small house chores with the maids.
"Here, your phone. It’s ringing." I heard Richard say, then he got up to hand over the phone to me. I blinked in shock at the name showing on the screen.
What was she doing here now?
