The Rogue Alpha's Second Chance-Chapter 26: Identity
Chapter 26 - Identity
Lucas stepped down from the car. Alpha James of the Yellow Arrow pack stood in front of him. Contrary to his rude actions, there was a welcoming smile on his face.
Placing his hands in the pocket, Lucas did not hold back the irritation in his voice as he asked, "What do you need?"
James didn't mind his attitude and maintained his friendliness. "I apologize for abruptly stopping you here, but you see that there is a criminal who escaped from our pack. He is quite dangerous. Do you mind if we run a check on you?"
The corner of Lucas's lips twitched. Although his words made his actions appear well-intended, Lucas knew they hid the sly motive he had about finding Violet.
"You're ridiculous to believe that you could protect us from a so-called criminal. Who do you think you are?" Lucas openly mocked.
The amount of intoxicants consumed by him earlier gave him a pounding headache, and thinking about what happened with Lydia earlier made him further agitated. Now, their audacity has his blood boiling.
All the commotion outside woke Violet up. In her drowsy state, she sat up straight, and seeing how she was cornered by a large number of werewolves made her anxious. However, the calmness expressed by Sylas soothed her emotions.
Before James could respond, another of his pack members stood forward and courageously yelled, "You are simply a fucking dirty, lowly rogue! How dare something as nasty as you contradict our Alpha!? Lower your head like a submissive dog and let our Alpha take care of everything while he is being nice. Don't make me kick you—"
Before the man could carry on his word, Lucas's string snapped, and he grabbed the man by the throat, pinning him to the tree trunk harshly. The next instant the sound of his neck snapping was heard, and his lifeless body fell on the ground.
Lucas's swift move, barely giving the man time to react, made everyone cautious.
"It feels pleasant letting some steam out. Is anyone else interested?" There was an excited gleam in his eyes.
Violet found herself a little taken aback. Behind Lucas's happy-go-lucky, easily approachable image hid a sadistic, blood-thirsty side. The murderous intent in his eyes was clear as a day while he waited for more to challenge him.
Few of the werewolves were provoked and wanted to come forward at Lucas's open challenge. However, James knew the severity of the scene and raised his hand, stopping them.
"He acted out of him. We mean you no hostility. If you could cooperate with us, it would hardly take a minute. However, no matter how strong you are, we are an entire pack after all," James pointed out— his words holding an open threat.
Sylas lowered the window. The steely blue eyes fell on James, creating an invisible pressure when they met his. Although those eyes were calm, there was a dangerous, domineering undercurrent within them, forcing James to submit although he himself was an Alpha.
Rest of the werewolves trembled within.
Sylas's gaze shifted on to Lucas.
"If you don't get rid of them soon, you will be punished." His tone was solemn. Then, he pushed up the window.
Lucas sighed, knowing that Sylas meant it.
"You see, I would like to have more fun with you as well, but the Alpha ordered me to end it fast," Lucas said playfully.
Then, switching to a more serious tone, he continued, "The council gave Alpha the special permission to settle here with full autonomy. Alpha James, do you believe that if he killed you today and took control of your pack, no one would do anything to you?"
The crazy glint in Lucas's eyes made James involuntarily shudder as though Sylas would easily take that step.
A smile then broke out into Lucas's face.
"But you are lucky that the Alpha is kind and doesn't mind your imprudence. Now, step out the way like a good dog before you anger the Alpha."

Despite Lucas's disrespect being humiliating, James knew he couldn't challenge him. Therefore, they could only part the way, letting Lucas get into the car and drive away.
One of the enraged werewolf spoke up, "Why are you letting them get their way? We are the most powerful pack here. What could they do to us?"
His buddy nudged him and scolded, "Watch out how you speak! Do you recognize the Alpha? It's Alpha Sylas Hale!"
The werewolf gasped. "That Alpha Sylas Hale?"

"Did that scare you, Princes?" Lucas asked, helping Violet get out of the car.
Lucas's tenderness as he treated her delicately was a contrast to the madness he showed earlier. He was so nice to her that it made her think it was his default personality.
Violet shook her head.
"It was cool. The way you grabbed his throat and baam, snapped it... I was in awe! If only I could be as strong as you, no one would bully me!" Violet praised excitedly, afraid that her words wouldn't be enough.
Lucas threw his head back and laughed. He then pinched her cheek, commenting, "You sure know how to please one, Princess."
"Yeah, we can always count on Violet to inflate that ego of yours," Lydia remarked.
And with that, the two of them got into another argument.
Violet followed after Sylas and asked, "Alpha, were you someone formidable?"
She thought back to how everyone was scared and cautious of Sylas despite him being a rogue. Although being a rogue was considered to be nasty and degrading, everyone treated Sylas like a superior.
"Eh, Princess, you're still oblivious of our dear Alpha's identity? He is the great Sylas Hale. You should have heard the name," Lucas shouted from behind before resuming his fight with Lydia.
Violet blinked her eyes, registering it.
Sylas Hale?
That Sylas Hale?
"Eh?"
