"And for me to become an Empress, you should become an Emperor," Rory added and looked at him. "No one can see you as that man’s legacy. He should be forgotten, while you... Everyone should see you as an emperor they respect and fear to cross. Become so influential that you can lift up other people in need, Liam. Become the emperor. And I will be behind you supporting you as you reach that height. And I want to be by your side reigning. I want to be known as your wife--the untouchable."

She had no doubt. Liam will listen to her and do what he asks of her. He might say something negative if he reacts the same way as in the past, but he will listen to her in the end.

That’s how they ended up in the same university considering that he was not interested in getting good grades at first. She wanted him to go with her to the university she liked. And surely, he got the scores for that.

She knew he will become the emperor too, just like she asks of him.

"And if you dare to look at young things with your wandering eye, I’ll pack them in suitcases and throw them in the woods. Or better yet, I’ll pack your junk and feed it to sharks. I can be the only woman by your side. Your empress," she smiled. Her eyes twinkled with expectation and pride.

"Silly fruit," he bopped her nose. "I don’t have to be an emperor for you to become an empress," Liam said.

He was happy beyond words that she asked this of him. The only reason she is asking him of this almost unattainable thing is not out of greed, or pride, but out of the great love, she has for him. Her love goes beyond what his thoughts could reach.

And that manifestation of her love is her wish she expressed right now-- Become the emperor so she can become an empress.

What does she not have to become an empress on her own? Nothing! She has everything. She has brains, she has connections, she has the money... everything she needs, she has.

So why would she want to become an empress only when he becomes an emperor?

Is she lazy? Is she not interested in working to become an empress? Is she scared?

Probably not.

She should have been triggered by something someone said, and now wants to see him as the emperor.

And he thought his heart would burst out of happiness. She wants to be his empress. And that means she wants to be his wife for a long time. He already knew that. But she cast a little shadow on him when she asked for a divorce.

Now she made that clear, didn’t she?

He used to get mad and feel a little lost whenever his family told him that she settled for him and so he should aspire to be someone she admires. But she always saw something no one else saw. And she brought it out.

He didn’t think that he could succeed in business. He lacked grit and confidence. But she gave him confidence even when she was not with him. Even thinking about her would fill him up with strength and he would work his best.

"Well, of course, but..." Rory didn’t expect that reply from him. That was an obvious statement. Anyone can become anything they want if they work for it. Unless it’s an inherited title, any title is attainable.

It was then she realized that rather than asking him to become an emperor, she had asked him to make her the empress. Because she knew in her heart that he would strive harder if she makes it about her.

Without even realizing it, she had engraved his love in her heart. And it seeps through her words.

And she decided to tell him her future plans.

"Fizzy," she held his hand and led him to the dining table. They need to sit for this conversation. "I’ve thought about it a lot, you know... my future," she said.

Liam nodded. "You want to go to school, or start a business..."

"No," Rory shook her head. "No, I am not interested in school and I don’t want to start a business. I don’t know business," she bit her lips and chewed on them.

"Stop that," he placed his finger on her lips to stop her from chewing her lips. She would end up hurting her.

She stopped and he couldn’t. He parted her lips and trailed his finger over her lips. He leaned towards her.

"Anyway," Rory sat straight. She knew what he was trying to do, and she was scared. She didn’t know why, but she was scared.

Liam with an awkward smile leaned back. What was he thinking? He almost kissed her.

"I don’t like going that route. Ellie needs me, well, she does not need me all the time, but I want to be there for her. It’s fun and I like spending time with her. I also like grocery shopping, chatting with the other new moms, bragging about my cutie pie baby, doing laundry, and..."

Liam looked at her like she was speaking an unknown language. "Is that what you like? To be a housewife? What happened to your wish to become a lawyer?" he asked. "You can continue school. If looking after Ellie is what you’re worried about, I can help. I will help in any way I can."

She went through trauma, but she cannot pause her life like that. She is intelligent. She could be more than a mere housewife.

"Oh, Fizzy..." Rory smiled. "I know you will help if I need it. And this is not a decision I made after this; you know...after that night. No, I was thinking about it even before. I talked to my grandma, and she wasn’t very supportive, well, not that it’s a surprise, but...Fizzy, this is what I want. I want to build and nurture my family."

"Okay..." Liam didn’t understand, but she looked like she had thought about it.

And he was not that surprised either. Maybe they’ve talked about it, or she gave the impression that she preferred it that way...

"As long as you are happy," he said.

That’s the best way to move forward. He was already planning on becoming the best. But if his wife wants him to revive his old company, that is exactly what he is going to do.

He has her help. And when she is at home looking after everything else, all he has to do is take care of his business. It’s not going to be hard.
