The Secret Obsession of the CEO-Chapter 202: A Hiccup in Recovery
Liam could not control his smile as he was preparing for bed. Rory wanted to take a bath. Ellie fell asleep. Maybe she absorbed her mother’s good mood, she ate her dinner and slept peacefully.
He rehashed everything Rory said after her return. His face hurt because of smiling too much, but he couldn’t control his grin.
She explained how it would take years for him to get there. She predicted that he would be in his forties and so would be she too when he forms an empire. It made him dizzy with happiness as she spoke of her plans.
She wanted to be his support. She said she will do everything she can to make him the emperor. She said that she is not a princess who will be pampered. As someone aspiring to be an empress, she said that she will work alongside him. She will have to attend parties with him, gather intel, make connections, host parties, and make sure he is surrounded by the right people.
She said that she has duties.
He didn’t realize the difference between a princess and a queen until then. She is a queen. She was always a queen, never a princess. She always had duties. But maybe it won’t be wrong of him to pamper her once in a while.
He should be scared thinking of his future, but he was not. Why would he be scared when he has the smartest and bravest woman by his side? This woman manipulated a psychopath and entered his lair for his sake.
How can he be afraid? And how can he not fall for her more?
And he had a feeling that Sidney said something to her that provoke her. She didn’t tell him what it was till the end, but she did ask some weird questions. He did answer them all truthfully. She looked pleased with his answers. So, he didn’t care about Sidney at all.
And she asked him not to be polite to everyone and not to goof around with others. He never did that, so he didn’t understand why she insisted on that. She wanted him to start acting like an emperor; to embed that feeling in his heart so he would be an emperor.
He walked to the bathroom as he heard her getting out. He could smell the fragrance from outside along with the warmth of the steam. He took in a deep breath.
He was so happy. His heart was bubbling with love for his wife. He wanted to express to her how much she had made him happy that day.
Just as she stepped out of the bathroom, he hugged her. He couldn’t find words to express his joy and love. He wanted to show her how much he loves her.
She was not getting out of his embrace, nor did a sound come from her. He had almost forgotten the mental state she was in regarding physical intimacy. He forgot about the warning the therapist gave him to fortify their emotional intimacy first before getting to physical intimacy.
At the moment, only his overwhelming love for the woman who’s been his strength all his life. His heart pounded and his body got warm. As a man, he couldn’t separate the overwhelming love from his want for her.
He kissed her hair as his hands wrapped around her waist. "I love you so much, Cherry," he whispered in her ear before nibbling on her earlobe. Grinding his crotch on her, he kissed her neck.
He only came to his senses when he heard her hyperventilating. He held her by the shoulders and looked at her. She was perspiring wildly and clutching her chest she was panting.
Realization hit him like a hammer on his head. What have I done! He panicked.
"I’m sorry, Cherry... I am sorry I..."
"No...No..." Rory took hurried steps away from him. Along with her panicked breath, she started crying too.
"I’m sorry, Cherry," he said, twitching like a worm in the fire. He wanted to get close to her and yet he knew after his screw-up, he would only end up hurting her more.
"No, Fizzy... No..." Rory said amidst sobs. "No... this is not working... No..."
He was terrified along with his guilt. He wanted to go back in time and change how he behaved. He didn’t know how he let his stupidity get in the way. It was getting better between them and now...
They’ve taken several steps closer and now he put them miles apart.
"I’m sorry... I didn’t mean to hurt you, Cherry..." he tried to apologize.
But every time he spoke, she only cried more. It shook the fiber of his being to see her cry like that. She was sitting on the floor, hugging her knees and crying; just wailing, letting out of her pain through tears.
He stopped making noise, kept a large distance between them, and waited for her to calm down.
She calmed down pretty soon. He was afraid to even offer her water. She was getting better, and he ruined it with his lust.
"Water," she said.
He ran to her with a bottle of water. He stubbed his toe on the way, but his heart was hurting more.
"Sit," she grabbed his hand when he offered the bottle. He nodded and sat a comfortable distance from her. The tears that had stopped started flowing again. He tried to get away, but she gripped his shirt.
"Don’t, Fizzy... Stay," she said with a sniff. Her eyes were red, and she looked defeated.
He sat beside her uncomfortably. He had a feeling that something awful was going to happen. He might lose her.
"We need to talk," she said after finishing half the bottle of water.
"Cherry, I~"
He tried to talk, but she covered his mouth with her fingers. She shook her head and tears rolled on her cheeks once more.
"It’s not working, Fizzy... I’m not going to get..." she took in a deep breath. "I am not getting better... I don’t think I ever will..."
"No, Cherry, It was my fault," he interjected her. She was trying and he messed her healing. And now she has lost hope.
"No..." she shook her head. "No, Fizzy... Get a grip. It’s not a fairy tale. It’s... I am ruined..." she cried.
Liam wanted to hug her close to her chest and rub her head to console her. She is not speaking what’s truly in her heart yet. But she was in so much pain that he couldn’t find a way to soothe her. To ease her pain.
He is the useless one.
"You are very beautiful, Fizzy...and you...deserve better," she covered his mouth with her hand so that he won’t interject with her. Liam pressed his lips to let her peak what was in her mind.
"You should not be apologizing to your wife for wanting to kiss her, for wanting to make love to her," Rory said in a single breath. "You deserve better. Maybe... it’s better that we..." Tears rolled down her cheeks and she couldn’t even finish what she was about to say.
Oh, so that’s what made her sad.
Liam let out a sigh. He looked at her, his lips curved to a smile. Maybe because that smile was from his heart, she could see that smile in his eyes. She let go of his mouth and looked at him.
"Idiot!" he flicked her forehead.
With a sniff, she wiped her forehead, still crying.
"If I should not apologize, should I force you?" he laughed.
She was not mad at him, but at herself. It was worse than being mad at herself. She was pitying herself. But in a way, she was not trusting their love.
But that’s okay... He was the one who started it.
Rory blinked. She was so guilty for keeping Liam in such a marriage that she is making him apologize for wanting her. Is this even a marriage?
But what he says makes sense too. He cannot force her. And so, separating and going on their way is the only option, right?
"That’s why we should talk about div~"
As the word "divorce" was in her mouth, he kissed her. It was not a deep kiss, but just a small flutter, like a kiss of butterfly wings on a flower.
"We are not divorcing," his voice was clear, and he stood up.
"But I am still not ready and I..."
As she was speaking, he lifted her up. Rory, out of instinct, wrapped her arm around his shoulder. He was very calm as he walked to the bed. She was not panicking anymore. His voice was very smooth and gentle as he spoke.
"It has not even four months till that guy tried to..." he stopped and placed her on the bed. he then knelt in front of her.
"I cannot expect you to forget that my biological father tried to r*pe you and stand naked in front of me to let me f*ck you. I know that," he said.
Rory gulped. The tears falling from her eyes stopped and she was surprised by the man in front of her.
Yeah, a man... Her Fitzwilliam is a man... not a boy, but a man.
"But..." she was about to speak when he covered her lips with his finger just like she did some time ago.
"Cherry, I think we need a break."
