The Soft-Hearted Wife of Mr. Big Shot-Chapter 21: Met Six Years Ago
Holly returned home, washed up, and went straight to bed, really feeling tired.
Noah Raines and Nathaniel Shaw sat in Leo Grant’s living room, sipping tea, with documents spread out before them.
"Is your little girl asleep?"
Leo came downstairs just as Nathaniel looked up, casually remarking.
Honestly, he always felt Holly Sawyer looked quite familiar, but couldn’t recall where they had met.
Leo: "Hmm."
"This was sent by The Grant’s Butler."
Noah moved the documents on the table in front of Leo, saying.
The Grant’s Butler is the butler of the Grant Family in Arkenfall, wholeheartedly supporting Leo, serving as the right hand of Elder Grant. He manages practically everything in the Grant Family.
"Has the elder written a will?"
Leo stared at the documents, suddenly pausing for a moment.
When he first arrived in Bexley, Elder Grant was still particularly robust and rarely went back, except for the New Year to play chess with him.
At the beginning of the year when he came from Arkenfall, the elder only had a cold, nothing serious. Why had he suddenly written a will?
"Yes, exactly. The elder notices those people’s actions in the Grant Family and doesn’t want to let Leo be taken advantage of."
Noah said that Elder Grant was aware of Leo’s capabilities; there was little risk of an incident but feared Leo might end up with nothing.
Leo opened the documents, seeing Elder Grant’s strong signature at the bottom. He carefully read it, slightly surprised.
"What is it?"
Seeing Leo’s changed expression, Nathaniel asked worriedly.
The document was sent by The Grant’s Butler; there shouldn’t be much issue. The original is in the lawyer’s possession, and this is a copy.
"The elder has given all his assets to me."
Leo closed the documents, stating the will’s contents were clear, with all Elder Grant’s belongings going to Leo. If something happened to Leo, the assets would be donated instead.
Elder Grant is protecting him, safeguarding his life, so others wouldn’t dare harm Leo.
"He’s protecting you."
Noah said.
Leo wasn’t interested in the Grant Family, something Elder Grant knew, but believed Leo was capable of inheriting the family.
Leo nodded, the elder’s intentions were evident.
"I wasn’t interested in the Grant Family before, but now I am determined to take it."
Leo looked at the documents on the table, speaking with gravitas.
After going through so much, he couldn’t possibly have no desire. Since those people are scheming to kill him and seize the Family Head position, he was determined to firmly occupy the position.
"So, when do you plan to go back?"
Nathaniel crossed his arms, looking at Leo, asking.
He always thought Leo should take that position, but since Leo was uninterested, as a brother, he could only support him.
"I plan to return in December, before my birthday."
Leo slowly said he wanted to hold a grand birthday celebration at the Grant family’s old mansion, claiming the position legitimately.
"What about the little girl?"
Noah asked, wondering if the young girl would regain her memory by then; if not, what then?
It’s evident how much the young girl clings to Leo; with no memory recovery, she would stick to him even more.
In Bexley, Leo could protect Holly Sawyer, but in Arkenfall, Leo might not have the same capability.
"In five months, the young girl should regain her memory."
Leo slowly shook his head, saying she couldn’t be without memory for so long, she would recall sooner or later.
He sent Holly to school, hoping she would meet more people and foster relationships, perhaps accidentally triggering her memory recovery.
People with amnesia often remember themselves when interacting with things or people connected to their memories.
"If not, we’ll discuss it then."
Leo added.
He suddenly thought about if the young girl really regained her memory and left, would he feel anything?
Yet, he felt a trace of unhappiness in his heart.
Holly hadn’t actually fallen asleep. After Leo went downstairs, she sneaked out of the room, standing in the attic, listening to Noah, Nathaniel, and Leo’s conversation.
She accomplished it without a sound; the three wouldn’t realize her presence.
She pondered when would be ideal to regain her memory.
"Leo, I’ve always felt this Holly girl looks familiar. I’m usually not wrong about these things."
Nathaniel suddenly interjected, looking seriously at Leo.
With the young girl seeming so gentle, he was inclined to believe Holly was harmless, yet he genuinely felt he had seen Holly somewhere.
Nathaniel’s instincts were pretty accurate, usually eight out of ten things he sensed were true.
"As long as she has no ties with those people in the Grant Family, it’s fine."
Leo couldn’t confidently affirm Holly did indeed have amnesia, speaking slowly.
The young girl’s collapse was too coincidental, and Nathaniel felt she looked familiar, leaving Leo bewildered.
"The girl has a good heart."
After a long pause, he slowly murmured.
Having spent quite a while with her, Leo believed she had a good heart, unless she was an expert at disguising.
As Holly listened to their conversation, she slightly curled her lips, feeling Leo’s words were enough.
Suddenly, she remembered that snowy night six years ago, when on a mission, she was injured and bleeding heavily, saved by Leo.
Leo was convinced she wasn’t evil, nursing her back with careful attention until she recovered.
Arkenfall’s winter was snowy and cold, but that year’s winter became warm for Holly, having met Leo; it didn’t feel cold that year.
Leo was Holly’s ray of sunshine that winter, warmly integrating into her heart.
Indeed, she had met Nathaniel and even Noah six years ago during the winter.
Nathaniel helped treat her wounds, unfit for hospital care, and Noah brought her breakfast while Leo handled business.
Perhaps the three brothers had forgotten her, but she remembered them, especially Leo, etching his name firmly in her heart.
Nathaniel’s instincts were spot-on; they had met.
"Leo, I, Holly Sawyer, always repay gratitude. Your kindness will be deeply returned."
From Holly’s perspective, she could see the three in the living room, speaking slowly.
Thus, she would help and protect Leo.
