The Soft-Hearted Wife of Mr. Big Shot-Chapter 22: Keeping an Eye on Nancy Miller
The next day Holly was taken to school by Leo again.
"Bro, can you take me to the movies tonight?"
In the car, Holly was scrolling through her phone when she suddenly looked up at Leo, her eyes full of anticipation.
"I have things to do tonight, how about tomorrow night?"
Leo’s gaze was fixed straight ahead as he spoke slowly.
Tonight, he had an appointment with Rosalie Jennings to discuss some matters.
Rosalie Jennings was the eldest daughter of the Jennings Family and was currently getting involved in her family’s business, which collaborated with Leo’s family.
Leo never mixed personal dislike with work; he always kept them distinctly separate.
"But bro, I’ve already bought tickets."
Holly bit her lower lip, looking pitiful, and spoke softly, appearing extremely disappointed.
"Then, bro... what time will you be done?"
After a long pause, Holly looked up at Leo again and asked slowly.
"The appointment is at eight, it should take about half an hour."
Leo replied.
"Then how about you take me to the movies at six, and then I can join you for your work at eight?"
"Bro, does that work for you? The movie is only an hour and a half long, and it starts at six."
Holly counted on her fingers, then looked at Leo with an innocent face and asked, her eyes full of anticipation.
"Okay."
Leo couldn’t bear to refuse when he saw the hopeful eyes of the little girl.
"You’re the best, bro."
Holly beamed with joy as she got out of the car and said goodbye to Leo.
Watching her joyful expression, Leo suddenly felt as if something had been added to his heart, as if something had filled it up.
The girl’s appearance seemed to add some fun to his life, making it less dull than before.
"Boss, breakfast."
Diana Curtis was waiting for Holly at the school gate, and when she saw Holly coming in, she quickly handed her the bag she was holding.
"You know just what I like."
The bag contained a burger and a cup of cola, and Holly curled her lips slightly as she spoke. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂
She just loved those things others called "unhealthy."
"Boss, Leo isn’t an idiot. Aren’t you afraid he’ll find out your identity?"
As they walked, Diana couldn’t help but ask.
Leo was never an idiot; he couldn’t possibly not notice the strange things happening around him. What would happen if he found out Holly’s identity?
Holly was eating her burger, her mouth full. She swallowed it down and then took a sip of cola.
"It’s fine, as long as we’re not enemies, Leo won’t do anything to me."
Holly was confident. The Leo she knew seemed aloof, but he was truly kind-hearted.
Diana: "..."
Something about this just felt strange.
"Boss, have you been put under a spell by Leo?"
Diana blinked her eyes, constantly glancing at Holly’s face; she felt Holly treated Leo differently than everyone else.
Just how it was different, she couldn’t say, but it just felt odd.
Holly: "Boring."
Hmm, it’s been a while since she had a burger; she missed it. Speaking of burgers, she thought of fried chicken, which she also hadn’t had in a long time.
Holly and Diana headed straight to the math classroom for their nine o’clock class. There weren’t many people there yet, so Holly automatically went straight to the back desk, with Diana following her.
"Got any candy?"
Holly crossed her legs as she sat, reaching into her pocket and finding it empty, not even a candy stick.
Hmm, she just changed into this outfit this morning, and the candy was in the clothes she changed out of; she forgot to take them out.
"Here, white peach oolong flavor."
Diana dug into her pocket and took out a lollipop, handing it to Holly.
She didn’t much care for candy, but Holly did, and everyone in The Pantheon knew Holly loved lollipops, so many of them kept some on hand for emergencies.
"Thanks."
Holly skillfully unwrapped it and popped the lollipop in her mouth.
Liking lollipops must be a habit.
As class time approached, a girl in a white long dress wearing a mask approached Holly, "Can I sit here?"
The girl’s voice was gentle, with courteous overtones.
"Sure."
Diana wanted to refuse, but Holly agreed first.
The class wasn’t crowded to begin with, and there were many open seats in the room.
"Thank you."
Nancy Miller thanked her and then removed her mask, revealing a delicate face.
A very pretty girl.
Diana was shocked, her mouth agape in disbelief as she looked at Holly.
Whoa, Holly could really spot people accurately — she even guessed Nancy would sit there.
"Pretty lady, here’s some candy for you."
Holly blinked and offered a lollipop to Nancy, smiling sincerely.
Nancy paused, looking at the candy and the fair hand that had suddenly appeared before her.
"Thanks, but I don’t eat candy."
Nancy waved her hand. As a dancer, she usually controlled her diet strictly and avoided sugary things.
Nancy looked at Holly, and Holly smiled back.
The girl before her was fair and looked particularly cute.
"Are you a dancer? You look graceful, I’m guessing you are. Am I right?"
Holly initiated a conversation, analyzing seriously as if she was really making an educated guess.
Diana covered her mouth to keep from laughing.
They already knew Nancy’s identity and had looked into her background thoroughly. Yet here she was, pretending to know nothing.
"Yes, I study dance."
Nancy spoke with a voice that was especially gentle, a faint smile on her lips.
Nancy and Holly had similar features, but they were of different styles; you wouldn’t notice it without looking closely.
Before class started, Holly tried to engage with Nancy further.
She wanted to get closer to Nancy and use her to get closer to her so-called father.
Diana sat aside, resting her chin in her hand as she stared out the window silently, sighing internally.
Many believed that the owner of The Pantheon was cold and ruthless, but they were wrong. Holly was actually silly and humorous.
Holly only showed a cold and ruthless demeanor in The Pantheon, but elsewhere she could be very different.
She could be sweet or salty, soft and cute or gentle, powerful or timid...
Basically, she was a drama queen.
