Chapter 51: Fighting the Monsters of the Cracks. (2)

Gerald didn’t waste time. He quickly summoned another orc. This one was larger than an elite orc and was armed with a great mace.

As soon as the orc was summoned, it swung its mace and brought it down on the monster, completely crushing it with a small "splat."

"Should we regroup with the others?" Gerald asked.

Perhaps regrouping with other heroes would be useful. After all, unity is strength.

However, the "sky" began to crack until it burst into thousands of fragments. A gigantic crack had opened.

"Shit..." the boy complained quietly as he saw the enormous spatial crack above him.

Apparently, the real monsters were about to arrive.

"Tch, if only I could summon my best summons," the boy complained quietly.

After Aku had finished off his strongest summon, he couldn’t summon it until a week passed.

His magic worked very similarly to video game abilities. It even had cooldown time.

The boy sighed, seeing how several red glimmers shone intensely inside the dark crack.

Then nine dragon heads emerged from the crack, roaring with fury.

Gerald had to cover his ears from how loud the sound was.

"Shit, I’m screwed," the boy said quietly, turning to see the girls.

Noelia was manipulating the "texture of the air" around her to repel the sound.

Meanwhile, Ariel had some kind of floating musical staff around her which was canceling that sound.

"I see I’m the only one having problems with this monster. Tch, I’ll have to think of a strategy," the boy told himself as he summoned three goblin shamans near him.

Meanwhile, the necks of what appeared to be a hydra stretched out. Its black scales reflected a purple gleam as it descended.

Two of the heads approached the corpse of the horned monster that had been defeated earlier and began devouring it.

The elite orcs didn’t take long to act.

The orc with the spear launched itself at one of the heads, driving its spear into its eye.

In contrast, the orc with the chain spun it and threw it around the neck of the other head, pulling it, while the orc with swords jumped toward that same head and drove its swords into its eyes.

Both heads emitted a high-pitched screech of pain, but this time Gerald was prepared, and the goblins he had summoned created a magical shield around him to protect him from the sound.

"Good. Don’t cut off their heads! Try to kill their brains!" Gerald shouted loudly.

He wasn’t sure if it was a hydra, but if that was the case, cutting off its head could be disastrous.

The hydra is a creature from Greek mythology which had the characteristic that when one of its heads was cut off, two others emerged from the wound.

The way this hydra was defeated was by crushing the heads, though another version says that after cutting off the hydra’s head, you can burn the wound and thus cauterize it.

When you cauterize a wound, the body believes it has already healed, and the healing process is canceled.

In this case however, Gerald, who didn’t know the hardness of the hydra’s scales, preferred to opt for the easier option.

Simply destroy the brain of each hydra one by one.

"Groaaar!" the hydra roared as one of its heads opened its mouth and expelled a stream of fire toward the orcs.

An intense torrent of fire traveled from the hydra’s mouth toward the orcs.

"Watch out!" Gerald exclaimed with concern for his troops.

However, they acted quickly.

The orc with the shield positioned itself in the path of the fire stream, blocking the flames with its shield.

However, that didn’t seem enough. The fire was hot enough for the steel shield to melt.

The orc was carbonized in an instant.

The orc with the swords tried to escape by jumping to one side, however the head moved, changing the direction of the fire stream toward that orc, incinerating it instantly.

At that moment, the orc with the chain took advantage and threw it at the hydra that was launching fire, trapping its mouth and closing it.

While doing so, the orc with the mace made a strong jump seeking to burst its head.

Another of the heads tried to prevent that. Sparks came from its mouth, as if it were about to launch a lightning bolt.

However, before that could happen, spinning drills came out of the ground, drilling through its jaw from below, preventing it from launching its attack and killing the head in an instant.

Thanks to that, the orc wasn’t interrupted and could crush the head of the hydra that spat fire.

However, there were still five heads alive seeking to attack.

One of the heads spat a dark purple miasma from its jaws, a dangerous and dense gas that began spreading slowly.

However, to counter that weakness, another of the heads expelled an air current that spread the gas cloud more quickly.

"No way!" Ariel exclaimed as she danced and moved her wand to the music.

A whirlwind was immediately generated in the middle of the gas cloud, starting to swallow the miasma so it wouldn’t keep spreading.

Seeing that, the head that spat poison lunged at the girl, seeking to bite her.

However, Marshmallow acted quickly. It inflated like a cloud and expelled a blue ray toward the dragon’s mouth.

"Eat this, Nyun!" the creature exclaimed as a powerful ray shot toward the hydra’s head.

The air thundered when it was pierced by the ray, which impacted directly against the hydra’s head with great power.

"Thanks, Marshmallow," the red-haired girl thanked as she moved her wand and altered the music so the tornado would start burning.

The fire tornado impacted directly with the head that had expelled air earlier. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎

"Great, it seems we’re getting into a good rhythm," Gerald exclaimed, seeing they were managing to finish off their enemy.

However, at that moment, an unpleasant crunching made him pay attention.

Upon turning and seeing where it came from, the boy regretted celebrating victory so soon.

One of the heads was tearing off and ripping apart the neck of a head that had already died.

That wasn’t a good sign.
