The Strongest Dandy in the City-Chapter 2057 - 2046: Terrifying Speed
From time to time, Talisman Masters entered the Talisman Master Pavilion Headquarters for preliminary selection.
However, most people went in with high hopes, but came out sighing, their expressions revealing that they hadn’t passed the preliminary selection.
As time ticked by, second by second.
Finally, it was Ye Chenfeng’s turn. Standing at the entrance of the Talisman Master Pavilion was a middle-aged man, who asked Ye Chenfeng to place his hand on a black stone stele. The middle-aged man wasn’t very suspicious of Ye Chenfeng’s black masked face, after all, there were many people like him.
This stele was used to test bone age. Of course, it didn’t display specific bone age, but as long as the age didn’t exceed three hundred years, the stele would flash blue. After all, to enter the Talisman Realm, one’s age had to be under four hundred years, and the Talisman Master Pavilion unified the age with the entrants of this Tian Xuan event; anyone over three hundred couldn’t participate in the talisman competition.
In Ye Chenfeng’s view, as long as the stele didn’t show his specific bone age, he was extremely relieved, since a bone age of twenty-nine would surely draw attention.
Ye Chenfeng placed his right hand on the stele, and soon it emitted a blue glow, indeed not showing his specific bone age.
The middle-aged man nodded and said, "Follow me inside!"
Ye Chenfeng followed the middle-aged man into the headquarters of the Talisman Master Pavilion and saw that its interior was extremely spacious, with many Talisman Masters bustling back and forth.
The middle-aged man led Ye Chenfeng to a room’s entrance and said, "Go inside! You’ll naturally know the preliminary assessment once you’re in."
Ye Chenfeng merely furrowed his brow and walked into the room, while the middle-aged man waited outside.
The room wasn’t very large.
In the middle of the room, there was a table and a chair. On the table was a piece of talisman paper, a talisman pen, and some sort of liquid for drawing talismans.
Ye Chenfeng walked to the table and saw densely packed words on a piece of white paper, roughly stating that using the provided talisman paper and talisman pen, he had to draw a First Level Ice Explosion Talisman as quickly as possible.
It didn’t specify what time frame was required to pass.
This Ice Explosion Talisman was the first Spirit Talisman Ye Chenfeng learned to make, and he had made it the most; he was extremely familiar with it.
For those wild Talisman Masters, creating a basic Ice Explosion Talisman shouldn’t be too difficult, so the issue must be in the time; surely, one had to make an Ice Explosion Talisman within a certain time to qualify.
Moreover, the white paper explained how to make an Ice Explosion Talisman, but Ye Chenfeng’s version was from within the "Talisman Range," much more complex than ordinary ones. His First Level Ice Explosion Talisman even had the power of a Second Level Spirit Talisman.
Since the provided instructions were for a basic Ice Explosion Talisman, Ye Chenfeng had to create the simpler version based on the paper’s directions.
Now, as a Third-Rank Talisman Master who had made more complex Ice Explosion Talismans, this basic version posed no challenge, but to be sure, he closed his eyes and rehearsed the simpler version several times in his mind.
Upon Ye Chenfeng entering the room,
within a courtyard of the Talisman Master Pavilion Headquarters, an image appeared in the air showing the inside of Ye Chenfeng’s room.
In the courtyard, an elder and a youth sat on chairs, their eyes on the air-borne image.
One of them, a girl of cool demeanor, looked at Ye Chenfeng in the image, his face masked but eyes closed, and her brows knitted. She coolly said, "Master, we have seen all of this by now. None of these Talisman Masters are adequate. Outside our Talisman Master Pavilion, there’s no place under the heavens capable of nurturing genius Talisman Masters."
This pure-faced girl, untouched by worldly filth, was the Talisman Master Pavilion’s greatest talent, Gu Xin’er, now a Fourth-Rank Talisman Master.
The elder seated beside her was one of the Talisman Master Pavilion’s patriarchs, Yu Shiqing, a true Seventh Rank Talisman Master.
Yu Shiqing, one of the patriarchs of the Talisman Master Pavilion, rarely showed up. Even when he appeared before the disciples, he always maintained a stern demeanor, but with his direct disciple Gu Xin’er, he was always kind and doting.
Yu Shiqing had once broken protocol in the Alchemy Pavilion to take Gu Xin’er as his disciple; though young, her status in the Talisman Master Pavilion was very high. Naturally, Gu Xin’er lived up to expectations, becoming the top talent under Yu Shiqing’s guidance.
Looking at his dutiful disciple, Yu Shiqing said, "Xin’er, how many Talisman Master geniuses do you think exist in this world? Someone like you, who became a Fourth-Rank Talisman Master at under two hundred years old, is rare indeed. Luckily, I discovered you; otherwise, your Talisman Master talents would have gone unrecognized."
"Although there’s this Four Masters Tournament for entertainment, I don’t expect to find geniuses. I’m just curious about the average level of those wild Talisman Masters."
"I have been stuck at Seventh Rank Talisman Master level for thousands of years, and just recently felt the threshold of becoming an Eighth Grade Talisman Master, so I stopped progressing, knowing that haste makes waste; I need to maintain composure, for stepping into the Eighth Grade would open a new realm to me."
Upon hearing Yu Shiqing’s words, Gu Xin’er, her demeanor cool, wore a sweet smile, and said, "Then Xin’er congratulates Master, and wishes Master enters Eighth Grade soon."
Yu Shiqing smiled and nodded, but seeing Ye Chenfeng still with his eyes closed in the image, Gu Xin’er furrowed her brow even further, and said, "Master, what’s with this person? He seems to be wasting time. Few wild Talisman Masters pass the preliminary selection, and this person isn’t starting. I think he lacks confidence."
Yu Shiqing also shook his head, losing interest in the preliminary selection, and just as he was about to wave the image away, he saw Ye Chenfeng pick up the pen, causing Yu Shiqing to pause slightly.
Meanwhile, in the room, Ye Chenfeng was unaware he was being monitored.
He had rehearsed the making of this simple Ice Explosion Talisman many times in his mind.
Gripping the talisman pen with his right hand, Ye Chenfeng deftly set pen to paper, his hand guiding the pen smoothly.
He was incredibly fast.
With concise strokes, lines appeared on the talisman paper.
One second passed.
Two seconds passed.
The entire process composed in a stroke.
In a brief two seconds.
The talisman paper flashed white, emitting a chilling aura.
The Ice Explosion Talisman was successfully completed.
In the courtyard of the Talisman Master Pavilion, Yu Shiqing and Gu Xin’er, master and apprentice, watched everything unfold in the image, their breath caught, Gu Xin’er’s eyes sparkling with astonishment. Even her master Yu Shiqing needed two seconds to draw the Ice Explosion Talisman, yet a wild Talisman Master equaled her master’s speed? Her master was a genuine Seventh Rank Talisman Master!
After a slight pause,
Yu Shiqing’s body trembled, his eyes shining with excitement, his lips quivering slightly in disbelief. Though just a First Level Ice Explosion Talisman, finishing within two seconds in the Tian Xuan Realm was rare; such speed was astonishing, especially for someone under three hundred years old.
The old Yu Shiqing was thoroughly thrilled, and said to Gu Xin’er with a hearty laugh, "Xin’er, how about having a junior apprentice? This kid’s talent shouldn’t be inferior to yours. Having a junior apprentice for company might be good. Perhaps you two could accomplish great things together!"
