The Unvanquished: Child of Nihility-Chapter 73: Unique Cadet Arrival
(Chapter 73 – the Unique Cadet Villa Zone, Northern Region of Eden Domineer Academy)
"And tomorrow..." His eyes gleamed briefly behind the mask. "Tomorrow we begin our first class – Introduction."
---
The atmosphere inside the Unique Class Assembly Hall remained heavy, even after Mentor Gray’s departure.
The new cadets stood in a tense hush, as though waiting for a signal to move. Morca remained where he was, arms folded, mismatched eyes calm and unreadable.
Then–
Ding!
A mechanical chime echoed through the hall.
From the side entrance Mentor Gray had pointed to earlier, a group of attendants entered.
They were men and women dressed in sleek black uniforms, each bearing the insignia of Eden Domineer Academy.
Floating beside them were silver, rune-inscribed crates, glowing faintly with restrained energy.
The lead attendant, an older woman with gray hair tied into a severe bun, stepped forward. Her voice rang out crisply:
"Unique Class Cadets – your academy wristwatch devices and provisional ID will now be distributed. These are advanced versions of the models used during the survival trial. And it will serve as your primary identification and access tools throughout the academy."
Hiss
One of the crates opened with a soft hiss, revealing rows of sleek black-bronze wristwatches, each paired with a black cadet ID card engraved with shimmering rune lines.
"Step forward when your name is called."
"Karon Tarma."
A tan-skinned youth with sharp eyes stepped forward, dressed in dark green pants and a half-buttoned cream shirt that revealed a muscular upper chest.
After receiving his wristwatch and ID, the old woman called again:
"Max Magnus."
And so the distribution began.
One by one, cadets approached to receive their devices.
---
When Morca’s name was called, he stepped forward in silence.
The attendant handed him his set. For a brief moment, her eyes lingered curiously on his face – or more precisely, on his mismatched eyes.
’One gleams with crimson intelligence, the other... pure abyss,’ she thought. ’Strange. And yet... there are more like him in this batch.’
Morca noticed the scrutiny, but said nothing. He slipped the wristwatch onto his left wrist.
Click.

---
A soft pulse of light shimmered across the wristwatch’s surface before fading into dormancy.
Morca tapped it lightly, feeling its deceptive lightness. It hummed with unseen potential – a quiet reminder that this device was more than a timekeeper.
Next, he examined the ID card briefly before slipping it into his storage ring. It was bound to the wristwatch, preventing misuse or duplication.
The distribution proceeded swiftly.
Eventually, the old lady’s voice came again, this time from speakers embedded into the walls:
"Cadets who have received their wristwatches and Black ID cards, exit through the northern gate."
"You will be automatically assigned a personal villa in the Unique Cadet Northern Region."
"Each villa includes: a private training room, a small cultivation chamber, living room, and a communication link to the academy’s internal mission network."
The voice cut off, and the attendants exited silently.
Without hesitation, Morca joined the slow trickle of cadets moving toward the teleportation booth outside the Assembly Hall.
Jack Voidspace walked ahead, hands tucked into his coat pockets, his posture relaxed but unreadable.
Neo Laura followed behind him, her black-and-red robe sweeping softly as she moved. The light shimmered on the crimson trims of her sleeves.
Morca glanced briefly around.
There it was again. That pressure, Silent ambition and Mutual suspicion.
A quiet promise of competition still to come.
But none of it mattered now.
Today, his focus was simple:
Explore his new residence.
Prepare for the days ahead.
---
(Arrival – Northern Villas)
The Silver-class teleportation booth shimmered faintly as each cadet approached, ID scanned and wristwatch synced.
It wasn’t a permanent permit card yet, just a provisional transport slip embedded in their device, linked to their cadet ID. But it was enough for today.
Verified, Morca stepped into the booth. A soft hum rose beneath his feet, and the silver-blue light swallowed him.
In the blink of an eye, he vanished.
The destination: the Unique Cadet Villa Zone, Northern Region of Eden Domineer Academy.
A place built for elites.
And for those who would one day shape the future of Eden.
---
The Northern Region was different from other region.
No sprawling dormitories. No clustered quarters.
Instead, it was a vast stretch of serene landscape, dotted with both greenhark and silverwood trees that surrounded individual villas spaced generously apart from one another. Each villa was crafted from obsidian stone, and each had something distinct about it.
The first glowed faintly with concentrated mana forming a dome of soft golden hue. It towered above the others, a beacon of prestige. And the following villas matched in grandeur but varied slightly in design and size.
Every villa bore its owner’s name above the entrance, inscribed in silver-blue runes.
---
Morca’s teleportation light faded.
As he stepped out from the booth, his wristwatch device buzzed softly, guiding him with a pulsing arrow on the interface. The system had already mapped a route to his designated villa.
Soon, he arrived before a modest yet dignified two-story structure.
Tall silverwood and greenhark trees framed the villa, their leaves whispering in the wind. A small stream trickled nearby, and faintly visible in the rear was a private courtyard, ringed by training dummies and a rune-etched stone platform.
His wristwatch pulsed again.
[Residence Registered: Villa No. 03 – Morca Sherman]
’Home... for now,’ Morca thought, stepping toward the entrance.
But then– a footstep behind him made him pause.
He turned.
To see Neo Laura stood a few meters away, her half-masked face turned toward him. Arms crossed, she studied him in silence, the crimson detailing of her cloak shimmering under the twilight sun.
Their eyes locked.
Neither said a word at first.
Then Laura’s rosey lips curved faintly, adding a soft yet dangerous charm to her already magnetic presence. Her voice was low, teasing – and something more:
"We’ll be seeing each other often... hope you don’t mind sharing a few spare seasons?"
Her tone carried playful teasing, but Morca sensed something deeper, something almost... genuine.
His gaze fell briefly to her lips. His blood stirred. ’She’s dangerous... how can someone be this beautiful and still wield such power?’ he thought. A silly smile betrayed his inner distraction.
He blinked.
"Forgive my rudeness... what did you just say?" he asked, awkwardly.
Laura chuckled. A low, soft sound. Rare.
"You spaced out... that’s okay. Go explore your villa. We’ll talk another time."
She turned and walked away toward her own – Villa No. 02 – her cloak fluttering behind her like an ink-black flame.
Morca watched her until she vanished into the growing dusk. He scratched his cheek with a sigh.
’Even with the mask on... she’s still beautiful. I need to keep my head straight next time.’

With a quiet breath, he turned back to his villa and pressed his wristwatch against the rune-etched door.
Hisss.
The door slid open, revealing the interior.
Cool air greeted him. The lights adjusted automatically to his presence.
The living room was minimalist, but refined – two long couches and a smaller one formed a U-shape around a sleek, black-glass TV. A large wall-mounted screen displayed ambient visuals. Simple yet elegant.
His eyes moved to the staircase leading upward.
He climbed.
The second floor opened into a small corridor. To his right, he entered the bedroom.
Gray and white tones dominated the space. The ceiling and floor were polished to a mirror-like smoothness. A king-sized bed, layered in soft blue and white sheets, stood beneath a wide glass window with faint blue curtains.
Golden sunlight streamed through, warming the otherwise cool room.
Morca stood silently for a while, gazing at the reflection of the light.
’I’m not here for vacation,’ he thought. ’Just a room to rest after battle. This is enough.’
---
After about 10 or so minutes Morca was now seating on the the Short couch in his living-room summarizing the layout of his villa "There are two rooms, a small liberty room, a living room, a private cultivation chamber and an advance training area. With all these my stay at the academy is efficient.
This will be his space now, His territory.
With that settled, Morca tapped on his wrist device. It was time to explore the academy’s structure–and his own personal data.
A transparent blue screen appeared before his eyes.
