The Unvanquished: Child of Nihility-Chapter 74: Northern Region
Chapter 74 – Four Breakthroughs in a roll
’So the presence that’s been watching over me since the trials... it was the tower itself?’ he muttered inwardly.
No answers came, of course. But a sharp, eerie smile slowly crept across his lips.
’You’re keeping an eye on me? Good. It won’t be long before your curiosity is answered.’
He exhaled quietly, calmed his surging thoughts, and tapped the next section.
---
EDA Map
A blueprint unfurled, outlining the entire academy–each region mapped in layered detail. He zoomed in.
Southern Region: Entrance Gate, New Recruit Welcome Hall, New Recruit Quarters, Guest Quarters...
Western Region: Exceptional Class Dormitories
Eastern Region: Elementary and Elite Class Dormitories.
Northern Region: Unique Cadet Villas, Unique Assembly Hall.
Central Region: Monument Tower, Staff Buildings, Training Hall, Mission Hall, Main Academy Campus, Cafeteria...
A faint dot pulsed on the screen–his current location.
’So these’s the full layout of Eden Domineer Academy... and my current location’ he mused. The map was like a live mini-screen, showing real-time navigation data.
But something caught his eye.
’The teleportation booth hub isn’t listed here. Only the regional ones are marked...’ He frowned.
The Central Region, however, was partially blurred–sections obscured by misted static.
’There’s more to this place than they’re letting on.’
After one more glance, he tapped on the final tab:

Morca’s face lit up–not with a smile, but with focus.
His blood stirred.
’Good... looks like my time at the academy won’t be boring.’
He scanned through the sections again, then closed the interface and rose from the couch. A quiet breeze swept into the living-room through the upper window.
He turned and walked upstairs.
---
Later that evening – the silver glow of Eden’s moons fell gently over the Northern Region, casting long beams of light across the villa district.
Each villa stood separately – a personal fortress carved from obsidian stone and white steel, surrounded by lush gardens and private cultivation spaces. Every structure was crafted with one purpose: to sharpen the future monsters slayer’s of Eden.
---
Inside Villa No. 03
Morca sat quietly by the wide glass window of his room. His ink-black hair draped softly over his forehead, his mismatched crimson and abyssal eyes staring into the darkened sky.
The room was silent, save for the steady pulse of mana that gently swirled around him – a natural gathering, drawn to his Core’s silent heartbeat.
Morca exhaled slowly.
Tonight, there was no need to rush cultivation. No battles to fight.
Only... patience.
He leaned his head against the cool glass, eyes closing briefly.
Yet even without seeing – his senses stretched naturally, as if part of the wind itself.
Suddenly he felt the movement of energy rippled through the surrounding–
Across the Northern Region, small tremors rippled through the still air.
Breakthroughs.
One after another.
The first ember flared.
---
Inside Villa No. 08.
Denis Sherman sat down crosslegged on the polished black tiles, his fists clenched tightly, sweat pouring down his pale forehead.
His breathing was ragged, heavy with desperation.
’I can’t... I can’t be left behind!’ 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
Visions of Jack Voidspace’s calm leadership,
Neo Laura’s unstoppable strength,
Morca’s overwhelming presence – they burned inside his mind, fueling the fire in his veins.
The spiritual energy surged violently into his vains and muscle
Pain lanced through his body.
Yet Denis gritted his teeth, refusing to fall.
Minutes passed like hours.
And then –
A soft crackle.
A gentle roar within his blood.
He could feel the new power running through his body he know – he had breakthrough – Saint Rank.
He gasped sharply, collapsing backward onto the cold floor, eyes wide and glistening.
Tears slid unbidden down the side of his face but couldn’t hide the smile and just he was feeling right now – a sight that could shock many – the cold and calm heir of the Sherman just cry after his breakthrough? – A rere sight indeed.
"I... I did it..."
His fingers clenched against his chest.
"I won’t be forgotten. I won’t..."
His breath shuddered.
And slowly, Denis Sherman smiled through the tears, a fragile but unyielding light in his heart.
---
Inside Villa No. 12.
Tyler Sherman sat cross-legged beneath the open skylight of her villa’s cultivation chamber.
The cold night air kissed her face as she gripped the edge of her seat tightly, her slander figure trembling under the pressure of advancing.
Unlike Denis, Tyler wasn’t desperate.
She was stubborn.
’You... my friend... my rival...’
her mind flashed with memories of Morca – the quiet boy who once studied alone in the library while others mocked him – the one she want to grow stronger and stand in front of him to protect...
And now... now he was a symbol others look up to.
Tyler’s jaw tightened.
’Even if it kills me, I’ll follow you.’
The energy within her cracked apart the barrier, at that moment the room temperature drop to nearly zoro % Celsius.
In a single moment, the surge of Saint Rank bathed her in dark radiance.
She didn’t smile.
She didn’t weep.
She only opened her sharp, dark eyes, with new determination, she muttered lowly:
"Watch me, Morca. I won’t let you walk too far ahead."
---
Inside Villa No. 07.
Leo Mordric sat in utter darkness.
No candles.
No cultivation array.
Only him and the silent black.
A faint a golden light flickle through his golden-halk eyes – his breathing was slow – controlled.
As the energy churned inside him, he exhaled once, shallowly.
Then, without warning – the breakthrough struck.
No tremor.
Just silence.
Just a sharp, piercing ripple through the air.
Leo opened his eyes, his pupils flashing like a predator’s.
"Another blade sharpened," he whispered.
He smiled faintly – a smile without warmth.
"Another corpse prepared."
He didn’t need to catch up to anyone.
He only needed to wait.
Wait for the moment... to strike.
---
Inside Villa No. 11.
Rider Wisewind sat calmly in a meditative posture, a thick book resting open on his knees.
He wasn’t chasing anyone.
He wasn’t hunting rivals.
He simply wanted strength – to protect.
To be the shield that others never were for him.
When the breakthrough came, it was gentle. It was just a soft breeze that rustling through his hair, as a faint golden glow curling around his skin.
Rider smiled quietly, closing the book.
"I’ll become stronger," he whispered. "For myself, and for the ones who still believe."
---
Northern Region, inside villa No. 03 – Late Night.
The villa district slowly fell quiet once again, but the silent waves of change had already washed over it.
From his villa, Morca’s eyes piercw through the darkness.
He could feel the faint aftershocks, like distant pebbles striking the surface of a vast lake.
’So they breakthrough... Good that make things interesting’
He leaned back against the cool wall, arms folded loosely across his chest.
A faint smile touched his lips – neither mocking nor proud.
Simply... Accepting.
He closed his eyes, and the night swallowed everything into silence.
---
The sun rose over Eden Domineer Academy’s northern region, gilding the unique cadets’ private villas in golden warmth. Each villa was nestled within well-kept hedges, separated just enough to offer privacy yet close enough to foster competition.
Within his villa, Morca stood silently at his window. The room was spacious–two bedrooms, a private meditation hall, and a sealed training chamber. He had awoken early, his senses sharp, and his energy unusually stable.
His academy wristwatch pulsed.
---
[Notification: Report to the Northern Facility Assembly Court by 09:00 A.M. for Uniform and Permit Card Distribution. Attendance mandatory.]
---
Morca shut the notice with a blink, strapped the silver-lined coat over his fitted black top, adjusted the cuffs, and stepped into the sunlight.
Others were emerging from their villas too.
Denis Sherman, Tyler Sherman, Leo Mordric, and Rider Wisewind–the four who had broken through to the Saint Rank last night–now carried themselves with a more focused air. Their footsteps were heavier, more grounded. No one mentioned their breakthroughs, but everyone felt it.
Neo Laura appeared from a nearby villa. Her black-red cloak trailed behind her like shadowed fire. Her eyes, calm and unbothered, briefly met Morca’s.
They said nothing, but a mutual awareness passed between them.
Today marked the first official gathering of the first-year cadets–the beginning of all that awaited them.
---
Earlier that morning before the gathering...
It was already 7:00 a.m. inside Villa No. 03.
At the heart of the villa’s cultivation chamber stood a slightly raised platform, centered in a pristine white space. Four golden pillars, etched with ancient runes and intricate soft-azure lines, surrounded it–each line pulsing faintly as they converged at the center. Above the platform, the ceiling glowed with rhythmically beating mana, and just overhead, a transparent, net-like tissue stretched between the pillars–acting as a filter that bridged the platform and the mana above.
This was the DX-Mano Fitter Mana Machine–an advanced technological-cultivation designed to absorb ambient mana through the four pillars and store it in the Mana Container above, allowing seamless access for the user below.
Only the top three new cadets had access to such a high-end feature.
---
Seated cross-legged in the center of the platform was Morca–calm, undisturbed, his eyes shut as if peacefully asleep.
After refreshing himself the night before, Morca had come here to cultivate. But strangely, the moment he sat on the platform, it felt as though his entire being was cradled in a warm, soft, and comforting embrace...

Ding! Ding!!
