Chapter 366: Chapter 365: Explosion

’He never thought President Shaw could have moments of such insecurity.’

Ethan Shaw unconsciously pulled out a cigarette. Just as he was about to put it to his lips, he flinched as if burned and tossed it into the trash can. He threw the pack from his desk drawer in after it.

He rarely smoked, only doing so occasionally to relieve frustration or pass the time. After smoking on the balcony last time, he had heard Naomi Kenway coughing as if she were choking. That’s when he realized she hated the smell of smoke. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖

"Liam, don’t put any more cigarettes in my desk. I don’t need them."

"You’re quitting?"

"Yes."

Liam Sherman nodded. "Understood, President Shaw. I’ll start recruiting suitable private dance instructors. I’ll present you with a few candidates to review."

Ethan Shaw nodded, adding with a hint of urgency, "As soon as possible."

After Liam Sherman left, Ethan Shaw stared at the documents in front of him, his thoughts gradually drifting away.

’People with common interests are more easily drawn to each other. Naomi Kenway loves dancing and acting, yet none of my hobbies seem to overlap with hers.’

Naomi Kenway had been busy filming a music video, and rumors about her and Rhys Quinn were once again popping up like resilient weeds. The thought of the garbage concocted by the gossip rags made him increasingly agitated. He grabbed his phone and called Liam Sherman, telling him to handle the rumors.

It was a bright, sunny day—a rare, leisurely weekend.

Naomi Kenway and Victor Vance had arranged to take the kids out to play.

"Mommy, I brought my favorite toy for Nathan. Do you think he’ll like it?"

Ian tilted his head up and asked, clutching a toy race car he had prepared earlier.

"Of course he will. Because it’s a thoughtful gift from you."

A smile lit up Ian Shaw’s big eyes, and he nodded.

"Nina!"

The call came. It was Victor Vance, walking over while holding Nathan Lynch’s hand. Both mother and son wore brilliant smiles.

"Over here!" Naomi Kenway waved.

Ever since the truth of what happened back then was exposed, Christina Lynch had tacitly allowed Victor Vance to see their child. He had no way to stop her, legally or in the court of public opinion. He was under intense scrutiny, and his every move was being watched.

Nathan Lynch was a very well-behaved child. He was usually silent when he was with Renee Jennings and was rarely so cheerful and optimistic. It was as if he had been injected with vitality, a withered leaf turning green again, suddenly filled with the liveliness appropriate for a child his age.

Ian Shaw handed over the model airplane, and Nathan Lynch also took out the gift he had prepared. The two little boys talked and laughed, engrossed in a discussion about the toys in their hands.

Naomi Kenway and Victor Vance watched from the side, an unconscious smile spreading across their faces.

They first went to a beautiful park that had a field of rapeseed flowers, their bright yellow color lifting everyone’s spirits.

Ian and Nathan were playing a game, while Naomi Kenway and Victor Vance watched quietly from a nearby bench.

A gentle breeze brushed past the ends of Victor Vance’s hair. She wore a serene smile, her eyes fixed on Nathan Lynch in front of them. "I never thought I’d have such a happy day. I originally thought..." Her eyes lowered. "I thought my life was destined to be filled with regret and guilt."

"That’s all in the past now." Naomi Kenway’s gaze shifted to Victor Vance, and she said comfortingly, "Trust me, things will only get better from here."

Victor Vance smiled and nodded, but her voice was choked with emotion. "It’s so good. The nightmare is finally over. As soon as I get custody of Nathan, I can completely escape the abyss that is the Lynch Family."

Naomi Kenway asked, "Christina Lynch still hasn’t agreed to the custody transfer?"

Victor Vance nodded, a cold glint in her eyes. "He keeps putting me off. I can’t wait any longer. If he doesn’t respond, I’m filing a lawsuit today."

Naomi Kenway nodded. "I support you."

After spending some time in the park, they went to a mall and tried on many matching parent-child outfits.

It was two in the afternoon when they left the mall. Their original plan was to hang out until evening, but Naomi Kenway suddenly got a message from Rhys Quinn’s agent saying a scene needed to be reshot. Due to the location’s availability, the timing was urgent.

After hanging up, Naomi Kenway felt a little embarrassed, unsure of how to bring it up.

Victor Vance seemed to understand. She said considerately, "It’s okay, we can always hang out another time. You should go take care of things with the production crew. I remember your family’s driver dropped you off..." She glanced down at her watch.

"It’ll take time for your driver to get here. I have time, so I might as well just take you to the set."

Naomi Kenway thanked her and got into Victor Vance’s car with Ian.

"Buckle up," Victor Vance’s gentle voice said.

"Okay."

Victor Vance started the engine. Suddenly, her brow furrowed. She stared ahead, stunned for a moment, then looked back at the steering wheel, lost in thought.

"What’s wrong?" Naomi Kenway noticed Victor Vance’s hesitation and asked with concern, "Do you have something you need to do? Ethan Shaw just messaged me, said he’s nearby signing a contract. Maybe I should..."

Naomi Kenway’s voice was cut off by a violent BANG BANG BANG against the car window.

The pounding on the window was frantic, mixed with the faint sound of shouting that was hard to make out due to the car’s excellent soundproofing.

Naomi Kenway turned her head to look. It was Sophia Zobel.

Victor Vance rolled down the window, her expression complicated. "Didn’t we agree that I would take Nathan out? Why are you chasing after us?"

Sophia Zobel was covered in sweat, her hair plastered to her scalp. She looked like she was about to cry from anxiety as she lunged through the window and grabbed Nathan Lynch, who was in the passenger seat, by the hand. "Nathan, my grandson, get out! Get out of the car with me! My precious grandson!!"

"Get out, get out now!!"

Nathan Lynch looked at her, bewildered. "Grandma..."

Victor Vance frowned. "What are you doing? We had an agreement! You’re turning Nathan’s hand red, let go!"

Sophia Zobel was panting, shaking her head frantically. "You can’t be in this car! It’s going to explode! Get out, Nathan, get out now!!"

Her voice became urgent and shrill as she tried to pull Nathan Lynch out through the car window.

Victor Vance shuddered violently at her words.

Naomi Kenway’s brow tightened. She made a split-second decision. "True or not, let’s get out of the car first."

"Okay," Victor Vance said.

Sophia Zobel’s expression didn’t seem fake. Naomi Kenway’s heart was pounding. She threw open the car door and got out with Ian.

The frantic beating of her heart seemed to echo in her ears. Naomi Kenway once again felt death looming, and a baseless panic seized her. It wasn’t just fear of death; it was because she was holding her most precious treasure.

’My son absolutely cannot be harmed!’

Naomi Kenway held Ian Shaw tight and ran forward frantically.

A deafening BOOM erupted, and the heat of the flames washed over her back.

All Naomi Kenway could remember was holding Ian tightly in her arms, protecting him.
