The Young master's fake bride and her lucky system-Chapter 118: Hanging out with grandpa___2
Elder Ren followed them into the restaurant, still singing Majesty's praises. The proud cat raised its neck, holding it's head high the more he praised it.
Alix would have sneered out of sheer jealousy at elder Ren's luck alone but she kept reminding herself that it was her cat. Eventually those lucky blessings would trickle her way.
"What do you think about the restaurant?" Grandpa Tai asked her.
In appearance alone, the traditional themed restaurant which served traditional dishes basing mostly on ancient recipes was beautiful. From the tapestry on the walls to the gold dragons running along the ceiling, it was quite the blast in the past.
"It's beautiful, and so rich in culture. I have never dreamed of eating from here. They say one dish can easily costs up to fifty thousand yuan. The food here must be meant for emperors."
The two elders laughed at her words, particularly when she talked about the price of the food.
Despite what she thought about the price, the restaurant was full and busy. It was the lunch hour, which probably explained why it was full to maximum capacity.
There was a long line of customers outside which they had walked past because they had a reservation.
As they were showed to a private room. Just as it was outside, the walls had paintings, ancient style ones. The lighting in the room was not very bright and red lanterns hang from the ceiling.
There were no chairs, just a long table and pillows on the wooden floor. The waitress who led them in went to one part of the wall, touched it and it slid open. Another part of the private room was revealed. In there was a long table as well but with chairs.
"Let's use that side." Elder Ren suggested.
They were two old men. If they sat on the ground they might break their fragile bones.
"But, why are you following us Ren Xiao Dan?" grandpa Tai asked his friend as they made themselves comfortable.
"You invited me." Elder Ren answered. He looked at the waitress and said, "Bring us some pu'er tea, and rice wine first."
"Tell your chef that the national painter Ren Xiao Dan is here with two guests and that he wants a feast. The bill is on him so we want the best." Grandpa Tai added.
Alix chuckled, thinking to herself that grandpa Tai was either shameless or petty. Was he not the same person who had just asked elder Ren why he was following them?
"Excuse me, a glass of orange juice too." she said before the waitress could escape.
"Bring her a whole jar." Grandpa Tai added.
After she left and closed the door, grandpa Tai looked at his friend who was staring at him with disbelief.
"What? Do you want to paint me too?" he asked arrogantly.
"Why would I paint an old man like you?" Ren Xiao Dan answered.
Grandpa Tai's mouth fell open and he held his chest as if he had been shot by an arrow. Being called called old was a big shock apparently.
"I am seventy seven years old. I am still very young. Ren Xiao Dan, don't embarrass me in front of my granddaughter."
Alix was laughing softly at the banter between the two old men. She could spend an hour doing nothing but watching them poke each other like this.
The Ren Xiao Dan she had seen twice on television seemed so calm, peaceful, wise and well centered. Apparently looks could be deceiving because he had a tongue comparable to Pang Jing De's.
As for grandpa Tai, she was seeing a whole comedic side to him that she had not seen before.
Grandpa Tai turned to Alix with a childish look on his face. "My good Alix, tell us who looks older than the other between me and this old man?"
"Grandfather, you look fifty, no you look thirty. We could be agemates." she exaggerated.
Grandpa Tai smirked at elder Ren while the other scoffed. His old friend had found someone that indulged his foolishness in his old age.
Alix took a small jar from her bag and opened it. It had a few pieces of homemade beef jerky. It was not exactly homemade but game world made and it was one of Majesty's favorite treats.
As soon as the cat smelled it, it started to meow.
"You had this in your bag all along. Why were you hiding it? Were you trying to steal my food human?"
She stabbed a toothpick in one piece and held it up to the mouth of the cat.
"I bought this for you with my hard earned money." she answered.
It was a good thing that she and the cat could communicate telepathically.
"Is that beef jerky?" Grandpa Tai asked her.
She nodded.
"I prepared for Majesty because he loves it. It's good for snacking on."
Grandpa Tai saw how much Majesty was enjoying it and he became curious. "Can humans eat it?"
"Mmm." she nodded. "I eat it all the time."
"Can I have a taste?"
"Eh," she responded and blinked in surprise. She didn't expect him to ask that.
She got another toothpick and faced the jar in the direction of grandpa Tai.
"Majesty let's share with grandpa." she said softly to the cat as she gently rubbed it's fur.
Meow, meow. Majesty protested.
"I don't want to share." It swatted her hand away and sulked.

"I will give you ten more jars later." she promised the cat.
Meow.
"Deal." the cat answered.
Grandpa Tai who was watching the back and forth between Alix and Majesty found the pair oddly entertaining. The cat responded to her as if it could understand human language. She also treated it as if it was a child, or a baby.
He got one piece of beef jerky and sent it to his mouth. It was not as hard as he expected. It was chewy and sweet with a bit of a smoky taste.
It would be better if he had some good sweet red wine to wash it down with.
He looked at Alix and smiled. As expected of the granddaughter he chose, she was skilled at everything. Even the beef jerky she made was five star restaurant quality.
"Are you going to steal food from a cat?" Elder Ren asked his friend.
"Don't you see me eating already?" he retorted.
He poked in the jar and got a piece for elder Ren and then handed it back to Alix. Even though he was greedy for more, he would fight with the cat for it's food.
Elder Ren who had tasted the jerky to be polite suddenly found himself not wanting to be polite. This would be a good snack to pair with his fruit wine.
"I would like to buy a few jars, if you are willing to sell me the jerky." he told her.
Alix did not mind at all. Who knew if she would need a favor from the famous painter in future? It would not harm her to be in the good books of elder Ren.
"It's just some jerky, you don't need....."
"Ten thousand yuan a jar." grandpa Tai jumped in before Alix could tell the elder that there was no need to pay. He looked at her and said calmly, "Don't worry, he is very wealthy. By charging him this small amount you will be doing him a favor."
"Take the deal." her system told her.
