The door was opened immediately after Zhang Bo's loud threat of breaking it down. Through it first was Caishen who entered with a troubled look on his face. As soon as he set eyes on her and noticed that she was not injured, visible relief took control which quickly followed by curiosity and just one question. What had happened in the room that caused the bed to break?

The question was on the faces of the others who peeped inside from the entrance of the bedroom.

"What happened?" grandma Zhang asked her.

"Why is the bed broken?" Yura added a question of her own.

Alix looked back at the bed and her face turned a light shade of red. Embarrassment made her want to pick up the broken pieces of the bed and hide under it.

"I will be very happy to pay for a new bed." She blurted out.

Someone guffawed and another giggled. Her response was an admission of guilt without saying too many words. But that still didn't explain what had happened that caused the bed to break?

For an awkward few seconds, everyone just stayed there looking at her or the bed which did not ease Alix's nerves.

Grandma Zhang did not wish to put Alix on the spot. Her grandson had credited his possible recovery to her. To the elderly woman, Alix was an angel sent to shine a light of luck on their family. What was one broken bed in comparison to the great deed she had done?

She smiled and said to Alix, "Well, it doesn't matter dear. The bed was old anyway and in need of replacement."

Besides her comforting words, she went around Caishen's chair and embraced Alix out of nowhere.

Alix was surprised, as she was expecting to be yelled at or possibly hit, two very popular punishments for her in the Lin house. Her mind could hardly make sense of the situation. Why was she being hugged for breaking the bed?

"Grandmother." She said in a small voice.

"It's okay dear, it's just a bed. You are far more precious than the bed. We were just so scared that you had been harmed." Rubbing her back gently, grandma Zhang told her.

Alix didn't know how to respond so she leaned more into the hug and embraced the elder back. There was a silly part of her which felt like crying as if she was going through a heartbreak.

Why couldn't her own grandmother have hugged her like this even once or said something kind to her?

"No tears, Alix, no crying." She told herself.

She had already come to terms with the tragedy of her life. Her heart was supposed to be as hard as a concrete wall. Why then did it feel ad soft as a pillow which was being stabbed?

"Dear, are you crying?" Grandma Zhang let go of her and asked. She held Alix's right hand and patted it gently.

"You must have been so scared when the bed crushed like that? The ones with the strongest fists have the softest hearts."

Alix nodded. She had been scared indeed.

"Don't be afraid, grandma is here. When you are scared, come to me and I will protect you." The elder told her.

Alix's bottom lip wobbled like that of a child. It seemed as if she was about to break out in a full blown ugly cry.

She looked down to hide her face from the others.

"Stupid, why are you acting like this?" She asked herself.

"Can everyone please excuse us?" Caishen told everyone else.

The rest of the Zhang's including grandma could sense Alix's heightened emotional state and so they did as Caishen said. It was better to give the couple room to talk.

When they left, Caishen looked at her and smiled.

"Mm, sister hulk."

Alix's head popped up and she looked at him.

"I told you not to call me that." She mumbled.

Caishen laughed softly and he spread his arms out wide, inviting her in for a hug. He knew of only two quick ways to stop her from crying, a hug and a joke.

Without hesitation, Alix took a few steps towards him and then she sat down on his laps. She laid her head on his sturdy chest and wiped her tears away with the back of her hand.

He brought his hands around and hugged her tightly.

"It will all be okay. Hubby Zhang is here, you can just lean on hubby Zhang. I will protect my sister hulk."

Despite the flowing tears which just wouldn't stop no matter how many times she ordered them to, Alix managed to laugh.

She lifted her hand to wipe away the tears and he moved his own to stop her. "Hands carry up to one hundred fifty different kinds of bacteria. Germs can survive on your hands for up to three hours. Let's get some tissues before you give yourself an infection."

"Tch!" She responded.

"It's amazing how much knowledge is stored in his mind. His intelligence must be at 60 or 70." Her impressed system said.

"Hmph!" She answered in her mind.

She pursed her lips and refused to answer.

He laughed lightly and run one of his hands through her hair.

She looked at him with her swollen pitiful eyes and he sighed helplessly.

"Who or what had made you angry?"

She could not give in the system so she mumbled, "Just some Lin family stuff."

Caishen continued running his right hand through her hair and then he moved it down to the back of her neck slowly. Slowly, he massaged her very lightly.

"I will handle the Lin's for you." He told her with assurance, "I already have all sorts of incriminating evidence to get your stepmother thrown in prison for embezzlement and your father too for creating a secret slush fund. I am only taking my time because I want to swoop in at the right time and use these things to leverage them into giving you shares. By the time your capable hubby is done, Lin power holdings will be Alix power holdings. So, don't be stressed, don't hurt yourself by punching beds and change your outfit right now and go on a date with me."
