And so the competition for five hundred million begun. One after the other, those who wanted the prize presented their business ideas and distributed business plans.

Initially, Alix thought they were just babbling empty talk but they had come prepared. Zhang Lexian even brought a laptop with slides, predictions and the amount in sales for the steak restaurant which she and her two partners had started. They had named it heavenly bite.

"I know that place, there is a good bar inside." Zhang Fulin said.

Lexian smiled proudly, taking his words as a compliment.

Eventually all presentations came to an end just as dessert arrived.

"We should vote now. Remember to be fair, don't just vote randomly because you want the winner to come from your branch. Remember that every successful business is a contribution to the coffers of our Zhang family in the future." elder Zhang said.

Even though he reminded them about this, the fact remained that parents would naturally vote for their children and branch leaders would vote for someone from their families. It was human nature and it could not be helped.

"Wait." a small voice said.

Xiaobo raised his hand and said, "Great grandpa, I have an idea too."

Elder Zhang smiled fondly on Xiaobo while most of the adults laughed.

"What is it?" the second elder asked him.

"Is it a new toy?" someone asked.

Everyone laughed but Xiaobo did not. The little boy, in his black and white suit looked quite serious.

"Go on," Yura encouraged him.

He looked at Zhang Bo and his father nodded as well. He approved of whatever his son wanted to do. Of the three children that had come for the annual lunch, only his son had the guts to talk.

Xiaobo turned to face the others and he calmed himself. Then, he opened his mouth and said, "My business idea is aunt and Xiaobo's sweet beef jerky."

The sip of juice which Alix had just taken went down the wrong part of her throat suddenly as Xiaobo took her by surprise. She started coughing while Caishen rubbed her back.

"Is she okay?" Yura asked.

"I am okay." Alix answered and a small cough escaped her mouth.

Zhang An rolled her eyes. Alix was just being a drama queen so that so her brother could dote on her. Why would she choke out of the blue?

Was it that untouched ice cream sundae in front of her which was choking her or the half eaten slice of red velvet cake?

"Go on." Zhang Bo, told Xiaobo.

He along with everyone else had been momentarily distracted when Alix started coughing.

Alix did not want Xiaobo to go on. She had given him some beef jerky yesterday and he loved it. Then, she went ahead and bragged about the national painter wanting to paint Majesty and buying her beef jerky. It did not strike her that Xiaobo who had been listening half heartedly and playing with the cats had been listening or that he would solicit for funds using her story.

Xiaobo smiled eagerly and then said, "Aunt Alix makes the best beef jerky in the world. Majesty and baby and the national painter Ren love it. If we sell aunt's beef jerky we can make a lot of money. Thank you for listening to me."

He was doing his best to appear serious but everyone found him to be hilarious, including his father who was recording the moment.

Xiaobo was finished and he sat down.

"We should applaud our brave little Zhang. He has courage and a great idea." Elder Zhang said.

After doing that and laughing when Xiaobo blushed, voting was started.

Elder Zhang's secretary handed everyone a sticky note and they wrote down the names of the one they thought deserved the investment.

The votes were collected and the final results handed to the elder.

He looked at the name on the yellow sticky note and laughed. "Well, we have a surprising winner."

A few people of course looked at Xiaobo. Different thoughts went through their minds and most shared the same one, a hope that the five hundred million would surely not go to a child for his ridiculous idea. It was cute but five hundred was not worth investing on cute.

"Zhang Lexian, congratulations." Elder Zhang announced.

A few people were truly surprised because they expected the one with ideas related to technology to win. Some were surprised because they thought the first elder would give the win to Xiaobo his direct great grandchild. Even the winner was also surprised that she had won.

She pointed to herself and looked around curiously.

"I won." she said, in shock.

"Congratulations." the second elder told her.

The very wide smile on his face which had his mouth overly curved upwards would not be erased easily tonight. His branch had brought home the big prize of the family lunch. It was a bigger victory to him than any other business deal he had made or any contract he had signed no matter how many zeros where on those documents.

Everyone from the second branch was just as excited, including those who had lost to Lexian.

Her mother had her hands over her mouth. She was holding back the loud scream which she longed to let out.

Xiaobo meanwhile turned to Alix and said in a sad voice, "Aunt, we lost."

Alix wanted to remind him that she had not been involved in his little business but seeing his sad eyes made her just want to hug him and assure him that they could try again next time.

"It's okay." she told him. "We are earning money from the national painter and you did a great job presenting our little business. When you see the winner later, remember to congratulate her. She also worked hard on her business idea."

Xiaobo nodded but the sadness did not fade away.

Lexian had come over to thank the two elders for the opportunity and she overheard what Alix said.

She made sure to approach Xiaobo and smiled at him. He was an adorable boy. And she actually thought he was brave because facing a crowd of adults to make that childish presentation had to been nerve wrecking.

"Our Xiaobo, I was so scared that I would lose to you. How did you come up with such a wonderful idea? I always knew that you were clever but you really surprised us all with your brilliance."

"Congratulations." he told her first. He seemed to be blushing again because he had been praised.

"Thank you." Lexian replied. "I must go now but I am very interested in aunt and Xiaobo's sweet beef jerky. If Xiaobo doesn't mind selling some to me, I would like to buy it."

"Really?" a happy Xiaobo asked her.

Lexian nodded. She was not a fool and she knew who the national painter was. Her restaurant sold steak, sausages, and other meat related meals. In the food business, a gimmick could sometimes get you fame faster than anything else. Beef jerky loved and endorsed by the national painter was something she was interested in selling.
