Thousands of Brilliant Stars: You Deserve the Best!-Chapter 229: Deliberate Shower, Towel Slips!
Hearing Iris Crawford’s straightforward refusal, Hannah Lennox felt a bit awkward. Why does this woman never give anyone face?
So Hannah turned to Lachlan Wyatt, "Brother, if my sister-in-law won’t take me, you’ll take me, right?"
Lachlan smiled and said, "You’re dreaming."
"..." This couple is perfectly in sync; whatever Iris thinks, Lachlan agrees with, and they never seem to make a mistake.
So Hannah watched eagerly as the large group left, leaving her alone inside the house, not even sparing her a glance, treating her like a watchdog left at home.
Sitting silently, Hannah thought it was time to report to Jonas Kingsley, but when she took out her phone, she hesitated.
Now that Iris and Lachlan weren’t home, wasn’t this the perfect opportunity to search Iris’s house?
Hannah cautiously peeked outside and noticed that some corners of Iris’s home didn’t have cameras. Gritting her teeth, she secretly slipped into the study Iris had specifically told her never to enter. As soon as she pushed the door open, an alarm suddenly went off!
Hannah was startled, never expecting Iris to be so cautious. Iris had placed a sensor by the door corner of the study. The alarm went off as soon as Hannah entered, scaring her into quickly using an EMP to disable the sensor before daring to step further inside.
The study was particularly large, with several bookshelves mounted on the walls and a few computers linked together, indicating high configurations. Iris probably uses this space to gather information.
Once she turned off the EMP device, Hannah moved to the computer and tried to log in, only to find it required a password.
Thinking about what the password could be, Hannah instinctively typed in Lachlan’s birthday, but it showed as incorrect.
What’s going on?
Isn’t Iris soulmates with Lachlan? Why isn’t her computer password his birthday?
Hannah couldn’t understand Iris’s mind; what else could those six numbers possibly mean?
After a while, Hannah called Jonas, "Are you there?"
Jonas didn’t expect Hannah to reach out and was a bit sarcastic, "How dare you call me?"
"I’m at Iris’s house."
Hannah paused, "They went out and didn’t take me."
"Who has such nerve." Jonas, out of sight, lit a cigarette and casually asked, "So, what are you reporting?"
"I want to know Iris’s date of birth."
Before she finished speaking, Jonas quickly rattled off a string of numbers.
The speed at which he did it left Hannah in disbelief. She slowly asked, "Have you always remembered Iris’s birth date?"
Jonas’s expression shifted, "What’s it to you? Why do you need Iris’s birthday?"
"I’m trying to log into Iris’s computer."
Hannah explained, "The password using Lachlan’s birthday was wrong. It’s so strange..."
This time, after entering Iris’s birthday, Hannah found she was logged in.
"..." Hannah was shocked, "She loves Lachlan so much, yet her password is still her own?"
"Because Iris’s truest love is always herself."
Jonas’s gaze darkened, possibly because he heard Hannah mention "she loves Lachlan so much," he added, "No matter how much Iris loves others, she never lowers herself. Isn’t that the most normal thing?"
What if she loves Lachlan—her passwords are still all hers.
Hannah hadn’t expected Iris to be so clear-headed, making her feel ashamed by comparison.
Such clarity in a woman is rare indeed.
After accessing Iris’s computer, Hannah said, "I found a lot of information on her computer. I’ll send it to you shortly."
"Mm."
Jonas lifted his eyes indifferently, as if it was insignificant, but Hannah’s next sentence caught him off guard.
"The Third Young Master, her computer has your information as well..." Hannah scrolled down the screen, "There are even your photos."
Jonas was stunned, "Why is she investigating me?"
"I don’t know, but Iris seems to have already investigated the kidnapping case from back then..." Hannah’s tone grew serious, "The Third Young Master, she even has information on Weston Wyatt."
"It looks like she knows what happened back then."
Jonas rubbed his brow, a shadow crossing his face, "No wonder she’s been so wary of you."
After sending the information to Jonas, Hannah placed a small camera with a listening device behind Iris’s computer. Once installed, she told Jonas, "Future videos will be sent to your phone. You can use this miniature camera to observe Iris."
"Alright."
Jonas’s expression finally improved a little, "You did a great job, Hannah. Now it’s up to you to stir up discord."
"Mm."
Hannah nodded, tidying up the desk to make it seem as if she’d never been there, then left the study.
When Iris and Lachlan returned after dinner, they found the house eerily quiet, as if Hannah didn’t exist. Lachlan glanced alertly upstairs and said, "I’ll go shower first then."
"Alright."
Iris didn’t think much of it and returned to her room alone. After all, she and Lachlan were still sleeping in separate rooms these days. However, when Lachlan opened his bedroom door, he discovered sounds coming from his private bathroom.
Raising an eyebrow, Lachlan approached the bathroom door. Someone was showering inside—no need to guess, it had to be Hannah.
Hannah, finishing her shower, stepped out wrapped in a towel, water still dripping from her body. Seeing Lachlan outside the door, she shivered, "Brother, why are you here?"
"This is my bedroom’s private bathroom. I want to ask why you’re here?"
Lachlan’s tone was indifferent, barely concealing a slight numbness. To him, even someone as provocatively clad as Hannah seemed like a paper doll. He appeared completely unconcerned about how suggestively she was dressed, telling her, "Once you’re done, hurry up and leave."
"Brother, I thought I shouldn’t use my sister-in-law’s bathroom without asking, so I used yours. After all, we are family. You won’t blame me, right?"
Hannah, speaking in such a faux delicate manner, made Lachlan feel like vomiting. Squinting his eyes, he sneered, "Can you stop being so pretentious?"
"I didn’t..." Hannah’s eyes shimmered with unshed tears, as if carrying endless emotions to convey to Lachlan. Suddenly, as she approached, she slipped and fell right onto him!
"Ah!"
Hannah cried out, landing firmly in Lachlan’s arms. Reflexively, he caught her, his fingers brushing against her exposed skin.
Annoyed and exasperated, Lachlan and Hannah collapsed together onto the floor. When he attempted to push her off, Hannah screamed again, "Wait, brother! My... my towel’s come undone! Don’t move!"
Lachlan’s face turned dark, "Are you done yet?"
The towel had indeed come loose from Hannah’s back. If she stood up, she’d be completely exposed to him. All she could say was, "Brother, help me up. My towel’s loose at the back..."
Grinding his teeth, Lachlan warned, "Then stop squirming around on me."
Hearing this, Hannah clung to him even tighter, "I’m scared..."
Before she could finish speaking, footsteps approached from the door—it was Iris, "Is something going on in your room?"
Lachlan’s expression changed suddenly, and before he could stop her, Iris had opened the door from outside. She paused, witnessing the two entangled on the floor, barely clothed.
Iris’s breath caught.
