Chapter 43: Chapter 43: Sunless Dawn

The blood feaster rose from the sea, its black blood spilling down the massive gash on its face.

Akaris had cut all of its tentacles with light blade and the only thing left to carry se was its mouth. It rose and climbed back to the island.

Its red eyes glared at him with unshakable rage, the desire to tear him to shreds radiated from its savage eyes like waves.

Akaris propped himself up with his claymore, he could barely stand, his muscles felt like they were on lava and his head was groggy.

A mind splitting headache assaulted him constantly making it hard for him to even think.

He stood and gripped his sword with shaking hands. His body swayed like a leaf in the wind.

However he knew, deep down he knew he couldn’t win, his mana was spent and his body could barely stand.

Even with the child of mana title which sped up his mana regeneration, he couldn’t regenerate fast enough.

But he wanted to, he deeply wanted to because as he was right now, a single move from the blood feaster will certainly kill him.

His desire resonated with the world, his will spread out like a net and subconsciously he started drawing in the ambient mana.

( Child of mana active.) He ignored the notification, wind picked up around him and in a blink of an eye formed a cyclone with him as the centre.

The ambient mana poured into him like a river falling into a deep abyss, no matter how much he drew in he couldn’t be satisfied.

The blood feaster naturally realised what he was doing, it screeched so loud some of the blood spawn blew up.

It lunged at him like a speeding truck, each of its steps shook the ground. Akaris closed his eyes.

The mana gathered around his heart and he could feel something forming, a spiral of mana twisted inside his heart.

A wave of pain assaulted his mind making the headache even more unbearable, his ears rang but he gritted his teeth.

He couldn’t stop now, the blood feaster drew closer and closer with each passing moment.

The island was small and the distance between them was not large, the blood feaster could cover such a distance in a few seconds.

DONG, he heard a loud bell sound echo through his mind, he swayed abd stabilized himself.

( Skill Mana Heart created.) Akaris almost jumped from joy, he felt a wave of mana course through his mana veins.

They gathered inside his heart, he wanted to check this out more but he didn’t have the time currently.

He immediately used the mana and poured it into his sword, unfortunately light blade had a cool down as to not wear down the sword.

Akaris continued pouring more and more mana into light bringer. The sword lit up with blue light.

The light grew in intensity until it almost solidified, the blood feaster was almost upon him.

Akaris wished to pour more mana but he no longer had the time. He raised his claymore above his head.

The blood feaster pounced with it mouth wide open. Akaris swung his sword down with all the strength he could muster.

Light bringer cut through the blood feaster’s snout like a hot knife through butter. Then a thin blade of mana three metres long shot out.

It continued and disappeared after going twenty metres away. The blood feaster paused and so did Akaris.

He had not expected that to happen. ( Skill Mana Blade created, swurdmanship has reached level 10.)

The notification made his heart jump with joy. Then a thin line appeared on the blood feaster’s body.

Then it fell, it had been cut into two pieces down the middle and those pieces fell on opposite sides.

( Experience gained...) Unfortunately he was still at level 9 and couldn’t gain any experience so this was a waste.

He still gained a lot from this fight though. He looked around and saw blood spawns swarming at his direction and sighed.

" This is going to be a long fight." Even after gaining a wave of mana his body was still too exhausted.

So he used another ability of light bringer ever though he didn’t know if it would work on him.

Bolster, it increases the fighting spirit and bravery of his allies, it also reduced fatigue making them fight like a fearless undying army.

But he wasn’t sure if it only worked on his allies or if it would work on him as well and so he tried.

He poured mana into light bringer, light bringer shone through the red sky like a beacon of light.

The light stretched around him forming a domain over 5 metres in radius. The blood spawns ran at him.

But when they entered the domain of light their bodies sizzled like they had been thrown into acid.

It wasn’t enough to destroy them but their bodies grew smaller, by the time they reached him they were already much weaker.

Even in his exhausted state he was able to easily dispatch them. Just like that, the night went by.

Then the red moon disappeared from beyond the horizon, the blood red sky turned as dark as the abyss.

The blood spawns and the blood sea receded and disappeared leaving the world as dry as a desert, Akaris sighed with relief.

Just as he was about to relax, the island he was standing on suddenly shook.

----------------------------------------------------------

Oriana sat cross legged to try and regenerate her lost mana. She was sitting on top of a pillar of earth that was 5 metres in diameter.

The pillar had a height of about 100 metres, too tall for her to jump down. When she appeared here she found herself surrounded by a red sea.

Like Akaris she believed this trial was set only for her. Before long she was forced to fight an endless horde of blood creatures.

However since her platform was small it was easier to defend. She fought the whole night without rest.

Not the red moon had disappeared and the world had turned dark but with her cat eyes she was still able to see.

While resting to catch her breath she heard movement below. She looked down and saw things rising from the dry land where the sea once sat.

Shadows rose from the ground all around her for as far as she could see.

" Fucken hell."
