Timeless Hunter: Blood Of Old-Chapter 48: Undead Crawler
The night went by and the sunless dawn came again. Akaris barely struggled against the blood spawn.
During the sunless dawn, an army of skeletons rose and the turtle island continued on its path.
Akaris saw a towering mountain in the distance, its visage was barely visible from this distance.
The turtle was moving in that direction and he figured he will come to see it up close eventually and stopped thinking about it.
The skeleton army couldn’t climb the turtle island so he was relatively safe and he used that time to sleep.
He didn’t sleep for long before he woke up and started training his hand to hand combat, then his swordsmanship and archery.
Just like that, an entire week passed with nothing major happening. He alternated between fighting blood spawn and the few monsters that came up.
To sleeping and training during the time of the sunless dawn. His swordsmanship and hand to hand combat improved a bit.
His archer on the other hand didn’t seem to be improving but his mana arrow did level up one time.
Forming the arrow took much less time and mana now, even the exploding arrow took about 3 seconds to form instead of the previous five.
This increased his strength even more which could increase his chances of survival in this place.
On the eighth day since he got here, he ate the raw meat of an eel he had killed the previous night.
The sunless dawn was about to come to an end. After eating he waited and the blood moon rose.
The island turtle lay down and braced for impact. The blood moon rose behind them and the blood sea followed.
It crashed on the behind of the turtle and sent waved crashing on top forcing him to hold on for dear life.
The blood leeches or maggots of the blood sea were getting more and more ferocious. Blocking them was becoming harder with each night.
The blood spawn came up forcing him into battle, he summoned his echo to consume the blood spawn.
He has been doing this for the past week, unfortunately these blood spawn were too weak to help it grow.
It didn’t matter, he hoped after eating enough of them, the blood feaster echo might level up again.
Or the very least, gain some extra ability. The night went by without a single special blood spawn showing up.
Fortunately after using the blood echo for so long, it had leveled up all the way to level 9, just shy of ranking up, the amount of mana needed to maintain it active was way way less.
So much so that his mana regeneration speed can allow him to regenerate more mana a second than he needed to keep it active.
The blood moon fell in the horizon, the sunless dawn came again, the mountain was closer now and it looked less like a mountain.
It wasn’t exactly clear what it actually was but it was extremely large. The bones below moved.
Countless skeletons rose and covered the land like a blanket. Akaris was not worried, they’ve never been able to climb up the island turtle.
The turtle continued walking forward and he took that time to sleep. " OOOOOW." He was woken up by a loud bellow like the dying throas of a whale.
Then BOOOOM, the island turtle shook, Akaris jumped up and pulled out his bow, in a split second he had drawn an arrow.
He looked around and saw a sight that made his blood run cold. The island turtle was fighting something.
It was a skeleton of a very large creature, it looked like a mixture between a lizard and a snake.
It had the skull of a snake, a long and thin body that ended in a sharp tail spike and two arms that ended in three sharp claws.
It had no hind legs and it was dragging its body in the ground. The bone creature collided with the turtle.
A shockwave spread out and almost sent Akaris falling off. That thing was huge, its body was nearly 60 metres long.
When it raised its head it could stand even taller than the turtle. Its claws caused the turtle to take a step back.
But the fight was not one sided, the turtle snapped its powerful jaws around the bone creature and swung its head throwing the large bone creature to the ground.
Akaris tried his best to not fall off but it was not easy. That was until the bone creature turned its burning eyes at him.
" Shit." He released the arrow, it cut through the air like a blue streak and hit the white skull.
Cling, the sound of metal against metal echoed and the mana arrow shattered into fragments and dissipated.
It didn’t even leave a mark on the skull, Akaris cursed and used inspect on the undead creature.
Undead Crawler ( uncommon)
Level 24
????????
That all he was able to see but it was enough to shake him to the bone. Akaris didn’t know how strong level 24 was but considering 10 was a milestone, he figured it must be incredibly strong.
" Fuck." Then he decided to use it against the turtle as well.
Infant Sea devouring turtle ( Legendary)
Level 16
????????
"Holy fuck." He cursed, the turtle was a legendary grade, it made sense why it could hold its own again a level 24 undead when it was only a level 16.
In fact it wasn’t just holding its own, it was winning, the bones on the undead crawler had multiple cracks on them. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
This made him happy, the infant, ’ Wait infant?’ he now realised this turtle was merely a child.
Yet its shell was already over 200 metres in diameter. He wondered how large an adult sea devouring turtle was.
The fight continued and the undead crawler was getting more and more damaged. Akaris figured it wouldn’t take long for the fight to end.
As expected, the turtle rammed its head on the undead crawler. The massive body of bones was sent flying.
It crashed on the black sand and rolled dozens of metres before coming to a stop. He thought it was over.
Then the crawler stood back up and roared, its roar was silent. The black sands shook for a few kilometres around them.
Then the sand exploded and out came dozens of massive undead crawlers, most were smaller than the first but a few were just as large.
They faced the turtle with green fire in their eyes and Akaris knew, he was fucked.
" Shit."
