Chapter 49: Chapter 49: Undead Everywhere

The turtle roared, a visible sound waves spread out and shook the black sand picking up dust.

Through the dust, one of the undead crawlers jumped out with its mouth wide open ready to bite the turtle.

The turtle slightly shifted its body and the undead crawler bit into its shell, its teeth failed to pierce through the shell.

The turtle swing its head and hit the undead crawler like a sledgehammer sending it crashing on the ground.

Before it could follow up with another attack, the ground exploded below it. An undead crawler came out and rammed the turtle from below.

The giant turtle tilted and its massive body crashed on a tall pillar of earth, Akaris could no longer hold and was sent flying to the ground.

He rolled and jumped to his feet just in time to see the undead crawlers lunging at the turtle.

There were too many of them and he was certain the turtle was done for then it opened its mouth.

With his high sensitivity to mana he felt a large amount of mana multiple times his entire mana pool gather into the turtle’s mouth.

Blue light lit up the surrounding and the sound of crashing waves echoed then a large amount of water poured out like a wave.

The wave rose to 20 metres in height and rammed into the approaching undead crawlers like a speed truck.

The wave was so strong and heavy it washed all of the undead crawlers and the other undead creatures away from the turtle.

Unfortunately it was only in one direction which didn’t involve the one Akaris was on so a large army of undead was rushing towards him.

He couldn’t climb back into the turtle’s back, when the blood sea comes he was certain to die.

The only other option was to run for the distant mountain and hope to get there in time.

He summoned his echo and climbed on its next near the base of its tentacles, the echo was a bit larger than before which was already very large.

The best part was its strength, it swung its tentacles around destroying the surrounding undead.

Some were strong enough to take its attacks but they were still pushed back. He ordered it to run.

It sprinted at its full speed towards the distant mountain. It was not as fast on land as it would’ve been in water.

But it was still much faster than a car, had it not have to fight undead along the way it probably would’ve been faster.

Akaris unfortunately couldn’t be much of help to it, with the exception of his exploding arrow the other arrows were very inefficient.

They can only destroy one or two undead at a time which was too inefficient considering the numbers they were facing.

His exploding arrow on the other hand could create an explosion of mana that can wipe out all the undead in a 5 metres radius.

The shockwave would also push or even shatter those within 10 to 14 metres radius, it was very efficient.

The only downside was that it took around 3 seconds to create a single arrow which was a lot of time.

Fortunately, these undead were not fully immortal and can be permanently put down, at least as far as he can tell.

His evolved hawk eyes allowed him to see their weak spots and it was always either in their skull or chest.

That made it easier to deal with them but the numbers were still too much, plus they were not like the slow skeletons from fiction.

They were fast, even the slowest of them was as fast as a peak human athlete which was terrifying.

The echo fought and ran through the endless undead like a speeding train, he supported it with his exploding arrows.

His mana pool kept dwindling, even though he could keep the echo active indefinitely in normal times.

Keeping it active while using his mana to fight did drain his mana rapidly but he estimated he could last the night.

That was if the situation did not change and they only faced these weaker undead, just as he thought that he heard clicking and turned his head and sighed.

’ You just had to jinx it, you just had to.’ he cursed himself. From his left came a massive undead.

Three metres wide and over 30 metres long with hundred of sharp spear like legs on either side of its body.

Its head had six eyes each burning with green flames and two sharp mandibles that stretched for two metres in front of its head.

It was a massive bone centipede, he used inspect on it.

Bone centipede ( common)

Level 12

Strength:40

Agility:33

Perception:25

Endurance:60

Vitality:0

Will:0

Spirit:0

The zeroes made sense, except for spirit, that meant this undead did not have any mana which was a good thing for him.

Its other stats were still terrifying but not anything he couldn’t handle, he was certain his echo was stronger than that.

The centipede reached them and pounced but before it could touch him he ordered his echo to attack.

Four tentacles lashed out like whips and bound the bone centipede. They swung it around destroying the other undead.

Then threw it dozens of metres away, it crashed on top of weaker undead destroying their bone bodies to pieces.

Just as it rose up to pounce again, an arrow pierced through one its eyes and exploded, blue energy spread out and destroyed its skull.

The large body fell on the ground and stopped moving. Akaris paused, ’ Well that was easy.’

He now realised he was greatly underestimating himself and his echo for that matter.

With his new found confidence, he ordered the echo to continue running, confidence didn’t mean stupidity, he wasn’t staying to fight these inexhaustible monsters.

Hours passed and the distant mountain became more and more clearer. " Holy fuck." He cursed.

The mountain was not a mountain at all but a giant skeleton of what looked like a whale. Fortunately it didn’t come back to life like the others.

Now it was only a few kilometres away from him, he urged the echo to run even faster, then below the mountainous skeleton came out more undead.

They looked like wolves with multiple whip like bone tails that screamed as they cut through the air like cloth.

These wolf undead lunged at him in droves, hundred and hundreds of them and they were fast, incredibly so.

He used inspect and every single one of them had an agility stat above 40.

" Fuck."
