Chapter 52: Chapter 52: Bone Uni-octo

Oriana fell on one of the bone bridges and held on. Adrain drew his bow but just as he was about to shoot his arrow, he paused.

Their eyes met and he couldn’t bring himself to killing her, she looked too much like Oriana.

Oriana seemed surprised as well, she was ready to use her bone uni-octo beast soul then he suddenly stopped.

She wondered, what if he was real because she was positive a creation of the system made to test her would never stop when they have an advantage.

" What are you doing in my trial, are you really Oriana?" Akaris asked, still retaining his vigilance.

" Your trial, this is my trial, I should be asking you if you’re really Akaris." Both paused and looked at each other.

" Are..are we in the same trial?" He asked and she scratched her head.

" It seems so." Both sighed with relief then Oriana pouted.

" You shot me." She whispered in an angry voice.

" You can’t really blame that on me, I didn’t think it was really you and you attacked me too."

He jumped down and landed next to her, " How long have you been here?" He asked.

" I’ve been staying in this skeleton for three days now, I arrived not far from here and had to fight my way here.

By the way, I saw your battle with that gorilla like creature, you were very impressive, what was that creature you were riding?"

" That’s my echo." He summoned the echo which startled Oriana, his echo was really massive.

Its body had to be on multiple bone bridges to not fall. Akaris did not summon it to show off.

The echo grew through consuming blood, since he wasn’t fighting any blood spawn this night he chose to let it hunt.

It plunged down into the blood sea, he hoped it would find stronger blood spawn to grow stronger though he doubted it.

His doubt was shattered in less than a minute when he felt it fighting something, then in two minutes the echo disappeared.

But it had consumed a lot of strong blood and he was certain it would level up but he wondered what it was fighting.

Oriana looked up, the moon had almost reached its peak. " Shhhhh." She shushed him and he listened.

She dragged her wounded body to hide behind a foliage of red trees and he followed her then followed her eyes.

As soon as the moon stood directly above them in the sky, the sea below churned and he finally saw what his echo was fighting.

Akaris found it hard to explain the appearance of the things. They had the body structure of frogs, including wed feets.

Their skins were dark with red markings all over them. Their faces had no nose or eyes, only a mouth so wide it ran across their faces.

Their bodies were nearly two metres long, he used inspect on them which was a mistake he realised a bit too late.

They were weak but their individual strength was not what terrified him, it was their numbers.

Already hundreds of them had climbed on to the skeleton and he could see shadows of thousands below the blood sea.

The moment he used inspect on them, they screeched and turned towards them then lunged.

" Shit, you shouldn’t have looked directly for that long, they can sense when being watched." Oriana told him. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮

Akaris understood, no wonder their perception was so high even though they lacked eyes or a nose.

Oriana stood up but her legs were shaking, the wounds on her thighs made it hard for her to stand.

Her tiger beast soul was focused on speed and her current situation rendered it severely limited.

She cancelled the beast soul and he expected her to use the bear beast soul but what showed up was beyond his imagination.

With a bust of light, her body grew larger, no, an armour appeared around her. Pitch black in colour and menacing.

It stood nearly three metres tall with a head like a rhino and it fully encompassed her entire body except her eyes.

He wondered how she can breath in there, on its back were eight black bone whips as thick as his arms.

Her current self looked like a demon king from hell. She stood tall and faced the approaching blood Raksha.

Akaris could sense her body was incredibly heavy right now and she had certainly lost her high mobility.

He drew his bow and formed two arrows then started firing. His arm blurred and he shot arrows like a rattling gun.

Each arrow took out a blood Raksha but they came like an endless flood not fearing death.

Akaris was losing his mana rapidly, he was not at full power to begin with and even if he was.

He would never have had enough mana for all of these blood Raksha. The blood Raksha kept getting closer.

He stopped shooting the others and focused on those who were the closest and this slightly delayed the blood Raksha.

But eventually they reached them, he was about to pull out his sword when a bone whip blurred past him.

It cut the blood Raksha in half and continued with the same speed, a single attack killed more than 10 blood Raksha.

Akaris was greatly surprised by the power of those tentacles, they were even stronger than those of his echo.

To be more specific, their bony nature made them more dangerous since they were sharp like blades.

The other bone whips attacked, they caused sonic booms as they cut through the Raksha like a scythe in a wheat field.

Akaris pulled his bow and waited, nearly three seconds later and arrow formed and he released it.

The arrow flew towards the largest gathering of the blood Raksha and exploded. Body parts flew in every direction.

The shockwave pushed all the other blood Raksha around to the blood sea and cleared an area of around 20 metres.

Oriana looked at him but he couldn’t tell her expression through that giant rhino helmet. He continued attacking.

Realising his mana was running low he stopped and recuperated. " Cover me while I rest."

He told her, she nodded, the truth was that she was running low too. This beast soul was powerful but took too much mana to keep active.

She didn’t have as much mana as Akaris to begin with and her mana regeneration speed was not as high.

Akaris sat cross legged and meditated, he had never done this before and hoped it could help with his mana regeneration.

After three minutes of this he received a notification which startled him. " Strange." He whispered.

( Skill- Meditation gained.

Akaris couldn’t help but grin.

Meditation was a useful skill, Akaris could only regenerate about five mana points per second due to his child of mana title.

10 percent was not much right now but one day, it would mean something plus it was only level 1, it would certainly grow stronger.

He continued meditating, a few minutes later he stood up. Oriana looked at him, " You’re good?" She asked.

" It’s better if you regenerate more mana, that way you can hold on much longer while I regenerate mine." She suggested.

Akaris looked confused, " My mana pool if full." Oriana paused allowing two blood Raksha to slip through her net of bone whips.

Akaris kicked the disgusting thing away, it felt slimy and cold. Oriana sat down a bit dejected.

She couldn’t comprehend how his mana could regenerate so fast. She could only regenerate about 1 mana point a minute.

She even thought that maybe his mana pool was not depleted but immediately dismissed that idea, she was certain it was, she felt it herself.

She sighed with envy and started mediating, Akaris faces the wave of blood Raksha by himself.

He cancelled mana skin and stopped using hawk eyes actively thus saving himself mana.

It was not like he needed some great perceptive ability to deal with such large numbers.

He started firing his arrows like a gatling gun, Akaris could fire an avarage of 9 to 10 a second before.

Now being able to create two arrows at once, he could fire double that but that doubled the mana expenditure.

Even with his high mana regeneration, he couldn’t keep that up for long.
