Timeless Hunter: Blood Of Old-Chapter 54: Leaving
When Oriana could no longer handle the barrage of claws she jumped up and soared through the air.
However she has underestimated the blood Raksha, they crouched then their hind legs bounced like springs.
They shot up faster than she could and reached her height instantly, she grabbed into a bone bridge and dodged.
Her arms blurred and blue light drew arcs through the air followed by blood and body pieces.
She ran across the bone bridge and and arrived above Akaris then jumped down into the light domain while holding a blood Raksha.
The poor unlucky creature screamed at the top of its lungs as it combusted into flames and burnt to ashes.
Oriana was covered in blood, Akaris couldn’t tell if it was hers or the blood Raksha’s. She sat down and took a deep breath.
Her chest was heaving with exhaustion yet the crazed smile never left her face. Akaris gave her a strange look.
" What’re looking at you pervet?" She growled at him and his mouth twitched.
" I’m the pervet?" He shook his head and stopped paying attention to her.
A few seconds passed in silence then she looked at him. " Tell what’s this ability of yours.
I felt like my blood was boiling, I wanted to rip something apart, anything and I couldn’t even feel the pain while being wounded."
She grimaced and touched her wounds, " After it was gone, all of that pain came back at once, it’s a fucked up ability Akaris."
Akaris smiled, " Then why are you here? Shouldn’t you be avoiding the light?" He asked mockingly.
She giggled, " And get ripped to shreds by those things, I think the fuck not, besides, that feeling was quite good.
Besides not feeling any pain, that endless stamina and that feeling of not having any fear was too good, it’s addictive.
But like any drugs, I should avoid taking too much of it at once, lest I overdose." As she said that she stood up.
The wounds on her body had stopped bleeding but they weren’t fully healed yet, she took a deep breath.
Then left the domain of bolster, the blood Raksha immediately jumped her, hundreds of them lunging at her at once.
She ripped them apart like that were pieces of warm bread, he looked down and saw their corpses falling to the blood sea below.
Then he noticed something else, those corpses were grabbed by the blood spawn and had their blood sucked out.
Their flesh immediately rotted and they sank to the bottom of the blood sea, he frowned, those blood spawn that ate the blood Raksha grew darker in colour and obviously stronger.
He wondered if this was how the blood sea was formed, through the blood of those who died here.
He shook his head and stopped thinking about crazy things, Oriana jumped back to the light.
A few minutes later she left again and this continued until the moon set beyond the horizon and the blood sea retreated.
All that was left below were bones and corpses with rotting flesh. Those corpse’s eyes ignited with green flames.
They rose from the dead and growled like savage beasts. Akaris’s frowned even more because he recognised some of them.
Amongst the skeletons were zombies and those zombies were exactly the blood Raksha they had killed last night.
Most had their bodies ripped to shreds so even as undead they weren’t very dangerous with only their upper bodies.
It seemed they couldn’t control their lower bodies but other undead can merge their bodies together after being cut in half.
He couldn’t understand the mechanisms here and frankly he didn’t care, they posed a threat to him and that was all that mattered.
As the sunless dawn took over the world, Oriana grabbed the nearest carcass and skinned it with her claws.
It smelled terrible, Akaris grabbed another and used his sword to clean it. Their meat looked like that of a frog.
Oriana was about to sink her teeth into it when he stopped her. " You’re eating it raw?" He asked with confusion.
He could understand before, there was no choice but they were sitting not even three metres away from a tree now.
He couldn’t understand why she was still eating it raw. Oriana gave him innocent eyes like a child caught doing something naughty. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
She was embarrassed, having spent her time here in constant worry and wariness, she had completely forgotten about cooking her meat.
Not to mention she was eating while in her tiger beast soul and raw meat felt natural to her in that state.
She cancelled her beast soul to save mana, Akaris cut the tree branches and started a fire.
They roasted the meat and ate, it tasted like chicken, better than anything he had ever eaten while in this cursed place.
After having his fill, he dried a skin of Raksha then roasted more meat and folded with with the skin.
Oriana followed his actions and they made rations. Then he looked in the direction he was heading in.
The blood sea came from the opposite direction so heading that way was not an option.
Not to mention he couldn’t see any high ground in that direction but he saw something akin to a tree on the other direction.
It was dark and even with his hawk eyes he couldn’t see perfectly clear, the darkness of the sunless dawn was impeding his eyesight.
He had seen the tree during the time of the blood moon though, he wasn’t sure if it was really red or if it was because of the light of the red moon.
The tree looked huge even from this distance but it was a bit far, he wasn’t sure that can reach it in time.
’ While my echo is fast, covering a distance of more than 10 kilometres will take hours while being beseiged by undead from every direction.
No wonder Oriana hasn’t left this place, reaching that tree seems impossible but perhaps together.’
" What’re you’re thinking?" Oriana asked after seeing him lost in his thoughts. He told her his idea and she nodded.
" That could work." She responded.
" ROAAAAR." They heard a loud roar that sent visible sound waves through the air. Their ears buzzed from the noise.
They looked at the direction the roar came from and saw a massive undead tiger more than 10 metres tall.
The tiger was facing a creature Akaris recognised very well but their fight looked like it would end soon.
" We need to leave right now." He told her, he realised that fight would end in a draw and that undead tiger would be free to attack them.
They needed to leave while it was held back by the turtle.
