Together Apart: Her White Moonlight Has Returned Too-Chapter 78: How Far Can You Send the Person in Your Heart
Noticing that Winston Valentine wanted to pull his arm away, Cecilia Vaughn couldn’t help but tighten her grip.
Vera Yves looked at the two of them and instead smiled, "Should I call a few more people to witness your brother-sister bond?"
Winston Valentine pushed Cecilia Vaughn aside, his gaze landing on Vera Yves’ face.
Vera Yves ignored him and walked away into the kitchen.
Old Mrs. Valentine had already instructed the servants to cook the dumplings; seeing her come in, she smiled and said, "The dumplings will be ready soon."
"I really want to eat Grandma’s homemade dumplings." Vera Yves hugged Old Mrs. Valentine, her tone playful.
"I’ll let you eat them first."
"Grandma, you’re so good to me. I wish you were my real grandma." Vera Yves’ eyes were a bit red. If there was anything she was reluctant about this marriage, it would be the affection from Old Mrs. Valentine.
Her biological grandmother passed away early, so her impression was not deep. Over the past three years, Old Mrs. Valentine was really good to her.
Outside the kitchen, Winston Valentine stopped in his tracks upon hearing Vera Yves’ words.
Old Mrs. Valentine rarely cooked and had invited quite a few younger family members back; the dining table was lively.
Vera Yves buried her head in eating dumplings.
Old Mrs. Valentine suddenly spoke, "I plan to transfer the shops under my name to Vera."
Vera Yves had just taken a mouthful of dumplings and almost choked.
Cecilia Vaughn looked at Vera Yves with displeasure.
Samantha Warren smiled and asked, "Mom, why suddenly decide to transfer the shops?"
Old Mrs. Valentine had distributed quite a lot of her assets to the younger generation over the years. What remained under her name, aside from shares in the group, was the most valuable real estate in the premium locations of Imperia.
Old Mrs. Valentine’s gaze fell upon Cecilia Vaughn, speaking slowly, "I am indeed getting old, there are many things I can’t manage, nor want to manage, but that doesn’t mean I don’t know anything."
Cecilia Vaughn gripped her chopsticks tightly, forcing a smile, "Grandma, I... I returned home for a reason, and it was... it was Third Brother who personally brought me back."
Cecilia Vaughn looked at Winston Valentine; seeing him remain silent, she bit her lip, "Besides, Third Brother and Vera are about to..."
"Grandma." Winston Valentine interrupted Cecilia’s words, looking at Old Mrs. Valentine, "The shops are under your name, it’s your freedom to transfer them to whoever you want."
Old Mrs. Valentine snorted coldly, "Need you to say it?"
Vera Yves swallowed the dumpling with difficulty; having decided to divorce, how could she still accept gifts from Old Mrs. Valentine?
"Grandma, I don’t want them."
Old Mrs. Valentine smiled at her, "Silly child, what is there to not want? It’s not like you have to do anything with them, someone will help you manage and collect rent, you just need to collect the money."
"Grandma, I have enough money to spend."
"Who ever complains about having too much money?"
Upon hearing this, Vera Yves recalled Winston Valentine’s similar words and didn’t refuse further.
Everyone had different expressions, feeling both envious and jealous of Vera Yves.
After dinner, Old Mrs. Valentine went upstairs; Cecilia Vaughn trapped Vera Yves outside the bathroom on the first floor, "Vera Yves, have you no shame? You’re about to divorce Winston and you still have the nerve to take Grandma’s stuff!"
Vera Yves looked at her arrogant manner and found it amusing. A mistress, where did she get the face?
"What can I do, I am still the rightful Mrs. Valentine?"
"Aren’t you the one dragging it out, refusing to divorce?"
"Yes, I’m dragging it out, until your belly swells, until you give birth, making your child an illegitimate one!"
"Vera Yves!"
Cecilia Vaughn raised her hand.
"Slap!" 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎
Vera Yves slapped her first.
Cecilia Vaughn clutched her face, incredulous, "Vera Yves, how dare you hit me?"
Vera Yves looked at her coldly, "What’s wrong with hitting you? Shouldn’t a mistress get beaten?"
"Vera Yves, Winston loves me, you’re the mistress! You are!"
"If you have guts, shout louder, let everyone in The Valentine Family be the judge," Vera Yves said mockingly, "Let’s see who between us is really the mistress."
Cecilia Vaughn gritted her teeth in frustration, and upon seeing a figure not far away, she immediately cried pitifully, running toward him, wanting to throw herself into his arms.
Winston Valentine dodged emotionlessly.
Cecilia Vaughn had no choice but to cling to his clothes, "Winston, Vera Yves dared hit me! Divorce her now, please? I don’t want to see her anymore!"
Seeing them stand together made Vera Yves nauseous.
She rubbed her wrist and walked away.
Not far away, Stella Valentine couldn’t hide her excitement in her eyes; finally, Third Brother was going to kick this woman out! She could finally have her revenge!
Vera Yves went upstairs to find Old Mrs. Valentine, telling her she didn’t want to accept the shops.
Old Mrs. Valentine held her hand, "Vera, Grandma knows you’ve suffered, don’t worry, no matter what, I’ll find a way to get rid of Cecilia Vaughn, she won’t affect your relationship with Winston."
Vera Yves was taken aback for a moment, "Grandma..."
"The news has already reached Grandma," Old Mrs. Valentine looked at her with aching heart, "Winston, he... he was just momentarily confused..."
Vera Yves instinctively retracted her hand.
"The incident has happened, Grandma knows you can’t accept it right away, rest assured, Grandma will make Winston apologize to you and send Cecilia Vaughn away, never to return."
It was then Vera Yves understood Old Mrs. Valentine’s intention; the shops were her compensation, urging her to forgive Winston’s mistake.
Winston was right, no matter how much Old Mrs. Valentine cared for her, she ultimately bore the name Yves instead of Valentine.
If Old Mrs. Valentine knew Cecilia Vaughn was pregnant, would she still send her away?
Vera Yves felt a chill in her heart, suddenly thankful she was already freed from this unequal marriage relationship.
"A person in reality can be sent far away, but emotionally, how far can they really be sent?" Vera Yves chuckled self-deprecatingly, "Grandma, it’s getting late, I want to head home now."
"Vera..." Old Mrs. Valentine said apologetically, "It’s my fault, I originally thought with you being so good, Winston would eventually fall in love with you."
Vera Yves said nothing more and left the room.
She descended the stairs and ran into Winston Valentine.
"I’ll drive you."
Vera Yves responded coldly, "No need."
"I want to discuss the divorce with you face-to-face."
Vera Yves looked at him again, fine, let’s discuss it, the sooner it’s over, the sooner she’ll have a complete break from him.
In the car, Vera Yves inexplicably thought about the time when he and Cecilia Vaughn sat in here, feeling uncomfortable all over.
Thinking maybe they had once shared intimate kisses in here, Vera Yves felt a surge of nausea.
But clearly, there was nothing left in her stomach.
She rolled down the car window, letting the cold wind blow in, hoping it would dispel the strange smells and stop her from overthinking.
Winston Valentine closed the car window, "Aren’t you cold?"
There was anger hidden in his voice; she had just had a miscarriage a few days ago and was already running around; now she wanted to catch the cold wind? Did she think her body was made of iron?
Vera Yves replied with no expression, "I’m not cold!"
Winston Valentine kept a stern face, "I’m cold; don’t open the window again."
Why doesn’t it freeze you to death?
Vera Yves resisted the urge to open the window again, "What do you want to discuss?"
"The villa for me, you can lay out other conditions as you wish."
Vera Yves sneered, "The villa is under my name, what grounds do you have to fight me for it?"
"Even if the villa is under your name, it’s marital property, I have a share," Winston Valentine stated slowly, "Do you think if you divorce me, Grandma will let me fight you for it?"
