Transmigrated As The Final Villain of a Death Game-Chapter 202: The Headmaster [ 2 ]
"The look in your eyes, I’ve seen countless times," Alexius said.
He rose from his seat and tidied his uniform. Although he appeared relaxed, the amount of killing intent he was directing toward me was intense.
And clearly...
"We may have a grievance, but we mustn’t fight. The battle would kill everyone in the city."
I raised a brow at his words.
"And you care about the people?"
"Some of them, I do."
Probably some people like Kevin, Isabelle, and even Melina. By now, Melina should’ve made the most progress, since her Gift to literally manipulate reality is by far the most broken Gift in the entire world.
Still, he had a point.
Alexius was powerful. Very powerful. A battle against him would destroy this city, and even a neighboring country, if not more.
"So what do you propose we do, then?" I questioned.
He thought it over for a moment.
"Let’s call a truce?"
"A truce?"
"A truce. I will not attack you, nor will I expose your lack of fragment to the others. In exchange, I want both of you to not meddle too much with the gala next week."
"..."
If one of his conditions was the gala, then something really big must be happening. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
But what?
"Are they celebrating Kevin’s achievements?"
He just tilted his head at my words.
"A boy who could barely kill 3 Viscount-ranked demons by himself is deserving of an achievement? I suppose, for reaching Grade 15 this soon, he is more special than others, but no, that’s not why the gala is being held."
Right as I was about to ask more, Clementine tapped my shoulder and said:
"My Soul Knights asked around and told me no one really knows why the gala is being held. Only that everyone’s invited."
That’s strange...
"You are curious, are you not?"
I turned to Alexius and narrowed my eyes.
"A little bit. Mind telling us about what’s going on?"
He opened his mouth, but just as he was about to reply, he halted. It almost looked like he had gotten some kind of idea.
"Normally, as wanted criminals, you would not be able to enter the gala. However, if you were to come back to the Future Academy, you would have no problems entering the venue."
Ridiculous.
And as expected, Clementine found it absurd too.
"We’re not interested. You can keep trying to turn us into your pawns, but that’s not going to happen."
She turned to me and nodded.
"Are we ready to leave, Amon?"
I just stared at her for a moment.
She had gotten even bolder than before.
Rather, she probably also knew we could kill him here, but chose to hold back.
For that, I simply smiled at her before turning my back to Alexius.
"We’ll talk again soon."
With those words, I grabbed Clementine’s hand and, with a single thought, turned us both into black lightning. We reappeared on the outskirts of the city, in front of Amon’s parents’ home.
Sadly, it looked like a few windows were shattered. The garden was also destroyed, and all sorts of trash were scattered around.
It felt petty.
Like... I knew I had a bad reputation, and what happened before my disappearance didn’t make it any better. But to lash out at my parents’ home?
Seriously?
It’s so petty.
"Should we just rent a place to stay?" Clementine suggested.
"Mmm... Yeah. We can stop by Evelyn’s gambling house. She’ll probably let us stay over."
She nodded at me.
"And what about the others?"
The others...
I paused for a moment and decided to use my Mystic Eyes. There were a couple of energy traces around me, so I followed one of them straight to the academy.
It felt like a tangled mess when I arrived. Still, it didn’t take long for me to find the right route. Just a few seconds later, I was in front of Kevin’s classroom.
There was a barrier holding me back from entering. Since I had already practiced with my Mystic Eyes and could infuse energy into them, I passed through the barrier and entered the classroom.
It was surprisingly empty. Only 8 or so students were there. As for the instructor, it was some brown-haired woman whose name I couldn’t even remember.
Still, Kevin seemed fine and dandy. If anything, the scars all over his body were kind of cool.
As for Isabelle, she sat in the back of the class with her usual white bangs covering her eyes. Speaking of which, her eyes were much bluer than I remembered.
And then there was also Melina. She looked as haughty as I remembered.
Honestly, it was odd how so little had changed after so much time.
At least they got stronger, though.
"They seem fine. But I reckon we make contact with them right away before Alexius starts warding us away from them."
Realizing what I meant, Clementine smirked and grabbed my hand.
In the next instant, the two of us once again turned into black lightning. The classroom’s floor ignited the moment we reappeared in the center of it.
Every single special class student stood up in surprise, including Kevin. They brandished their weapons at us, and as for Kevin, he was the only one out of the bunch to take matters into his own hands.
The ground cracked underneath his feet as he launched himself forward at an unbelievable speed. He crossed a distance of several meters in one go, and with his sword unsheathed and traveling toward my throat, I could tell he was dead set on killing me there and then.
Honestly, I was a bit surprised that his swordsmanship wasn’t as bad as it was the last time I saw him. It seemed like he could actually control his movements while moving at such speed. Furthermore, he had gotten a new sword.
Judging by its glowing blue blade, it was the Murama, a sword that could pierce any and all energy defenses.
It was impressive, sure.
But at the end of the day, its wielder was just Kevin.
I unsheathed my katana and infused the blade with black lightning. With a single movement, I matched Kevin’s speed as our blades eventually clashed with one another.
