Chapter 24: Chapter 24:Fees [1]
Shaking my head, I paused for a moment and stared at the blood-red mess in front of me.
There was no way to hide this.
Sooner or later, this area would be discovered and reported.
Lifting up the bottom of my cloak, I carefully stepped through patches of blood-red grass, inching closer and closer to the headless Kratos.
The most obvious thing to take would be his battle axe.
Not only was it a weapon artifact, but it seemed to be extremely powerful and lightweight.
There would be just one problem though.
The axe was easily recognizable as Kratos's, so if I even attempted to sell it or carry it back with me, I'd be immediately investigated.
Transforming my blood-red blade back into a small pen with a simple click, I gripped the bottom of the axe, giving in to my curiosity.
Instantly, a flood of emotions coursed through my brain.
A minute ago, I was on the verge of collapsing and falling unconscious, but, now, as I tightened my grip around the axe, my mind seemed to reawaken.
My eyelids, which were struggling to stay open a second ago, were now staying up without a problem.

My legs had even ceased their wobbling and straightened, making me feel as if I could run a marathon.
It felt as if I had just drunk an energy drink.
Although the axe was extremely large, probably weighing more than me, I could easily lift it up so that its blade was facing the sky.
However, it wasn't like my cloak or blood-red blade.
As I dropped my massive axe to the ground, I instantly felt all my muscles start to ache and tremble.
And, the exhaustion that had disappeared when I had picked up the axe instantly reappeared, sending waves of nausea through my head.
It seemed that the axe was able to temporarily refresh and even enhance your body when holding it.
Sighing, I walked away from the large axe and crouched down next to the headless beserker's body.
A smile appeared on my face as I reached into his right pocket and felt a familiar surface rub against my hands.
As I took my hand out of his pocket, 13 silver coins appeared on my palm, dazzling under the sunlight that had managed to break through the dense trees above.
Immediately, I grabbed four silver coins and added them to the one in my pocket. As for the other 9, I'd have to wait to visit a magical artifact shop.
After checking Kratos's other pocket, which had nothing, I continued scanning his body for a couple of seconds before finally finding something else valuable.
Laying on the index finger of Kratos's left hand was an obsidian-black ring with a small purple gemstone embedded in it.
A communication ring...?
Mana orbs are almost always absorbed as increasing your mana capacity is vital; however, they can also be refined and turned into gemstones.
From there, depending on what gemstone the orb turns into, they can have a variety of purposes, including aiding in the crafting and enhancing of weapon artifacts.
Sliding the ring off the berserker's finger, I placed my thumb over the small purple gemstone before hiding it in my cloak's pocket.
Who could Kratos have been communicating with?
More importantly...had Kratos been communicating with someone in the novel, or had he only done so because of my interference in this world?
Snapping back to my senses, I immediately ordered my three remaining clones to sprint forward and followed after them.
However, after just one step, my breath began to speed up and my legs wobbled, threatening to completely give out.
I was simply too exhausted after my fight with Kratos.
Reluctantly, I trudged back over to the corpse and placed my hands around the axe, instantly feeling a surge of energy rush through my body.
Placing the axe over my shoulder, I sprinted forward, zig-zagging through the trees in the way and jumping over the branches on the forest floor.
Surprisingly, as I stared in front of me, I realized that all my clones now also had axes resting on their shoulder.
And, just like me, they were moving slightly faster than normal.
If I get an artifact, do they get it instantly as well?
*BAM*
Interrupting my train of thought, the sound of something hard crashing against a tree suddenly echoed throughout the forest.
Catching up with my clones, I peeked through the trees ahead of me and spotted scenery that could only be described as a warzone.
While there wasn't much blood, the impact on the nearby area was tremendous.
Dozens of trees were knocked over, the forest floor was ripped apart to the point where there wasn't even any grass in the area, and massive craters were everywhere.
Yet, despite all of that, the scene looked almost magical, immediately capturing my attention.
With all the trees in the area destroyed, the sun shone down on the battlefield, casting a bright and jolly mood on the destructive and violent fight.
However, only one figure seemed to be illuminated.
On one side of the warzone stood a giant and green troll that wielded a large wooden bat.
Stretching far above the trees, the troll, dressed in a simple cloth, stared down at two figures with his eyes bulging.
With countless bloody scars and wounds, his figure cast a massive shadow down, canceling out the sunshine.
Immediately catching my attention, I spotted two wind currents that resembled water geysers forming on the other side of the battlefield.
In the next second, with a broadsword in hand, a figure leaped into the wind currents with the tip of her sword facing the ground.
Carried up into the air by the current, the figure ascended until she was finally at the height of the troll's head.
Illuminated by the sun, her silky and celestial-white hair blew back, revealing her snow-white eyes.
In contrast to her lifeless and dull gaze in the adventurer's guild, her eyes now portrayed determination and conviction, as if she had found her life's calling.
Then, in a swift and clean motion, the figure yanked the hilt of her sword, aiming it at the wound in the troll's already damaged body.
A moment later, perhaps, a divine light-blue slash appeared, barreling towards the damaged troll.
She had become enlightened.
