Chapter 241: "I need you."

Ave carefully began to wipe his hair. He had thick, gorgeous black hair that would put a woman’s own to shame. It felt smooth to the touch as she wiped it, and she couldn’t resist the urge to run her fingers into the strands. She saw his reflection in the mirror; his eyes were closed as she used her comb to brush his hair for him. His relaxed face gave her the pleasure of taking her time in doing his hair before she’d bring up the topic of what she wanted to discuss with him.

"Has Rylan left?" Ave asked immediately as his thoughts came to her mind. She hadn’t seen him since morning, and she wouldn’t want him to leave just like that without saying goodbye.

Lucian didn’t open his eyes as he replied, "No. He is given the room next to Orion. He will be here for some time." Not until Lucian had secured Ave’s safety, her brother insisted on staying. If Lucian didn’t make Nazia have no choice but to support him, Rylan had said he’d take her away from him. Tomorrow, he would have to meet the king again.

"Was he given food? I mean, I don’t want him to be uncomfortable and all. Perhaps I should check up on him first. I will be right back. You—" Ave had just turned on her heels to go and check up on her brother when she felt Lucian’s hand shoot out and grip her wrist. He pulled her back, and she fell on his lap with a small gasp of surprise as she hadn’t expected him to make her sit on his lap.

She looked up at his face and saw his amber eyes held a small glare in them, and without a word, he leaned his head down and placed it on her breast while his arm wrapped around her slim waist. He snuggled against her breast as he grumbled huskily,

"Why do I feel like now that you know he is your brother, I will have to share your love and attention with him?" He complained as he clung to her. "This morning, you didn’t even ask me how I felt or treat my injuries. I was also hurt, you know? He stabbed me with his dagger. I was in pain too, but you seemed to forget about me entirely because of him. That’s unfair, my love. So unfair," he rumbled boyishly as he rubbed his head against her until she couldn’t help but raise her hand and begin to stroke his hair with a small smile on her face. Her husband was jealous of her brother. How adorable.

"I didn’t forget about you. He has no healing ability like you do. He needed to be treated while you healed from it," she tried to reason to alleviate his adorable childish jealousy.

"Still, you should check on me as well next time. You don’t have to go to him again now because we had dinner together with my men outside. He is fine, and must have gone to sleep from the pain relieving medicine Zane gave him," Lucian assured her. The last thing he wanted was for her to go to her brother and they’d talk and talk until she forgot she had a husband. Thank goodness he’d been smart to suggest he take the painkiller medicines for his wound; he would sleep until tomorrow.

Hearing that, Ave relaxed and focused more now on her big baby husband. She’d overheard women in her time complaining that clingy men are unattractive, but to her, she liked that he was clingy to her and wanted to be with her all the time. She adjusted on his lap, and he snuggled against her even more until she heard his sigh of contentment.

Ave let out a gasp when she felt his hand suddenly slip into the blouse she wore and cover her breast. He played with her hardened peak, rubbing and touching it between his fingers until she subconsciously moaned softly and moved closer to him. He didn’t do anything else but kept playing with her breast under her blouse.

"I like touching your tit because they harden instantly when I do," he whispered thickly.

"Where did you learn that word?" Ave asked, her voice sounding a bit breathless from what he was doing to her breast under the blouse.

"From you, of course. You once referred to breasts as boobs and tit when we were on that river path," he smiled at the memory that seemed so long ago in his mind.

Ave was stalling for time before she would talk about what she wanted to, but his hands under her blouse now were distracting her from her own thoughts.

It was a surprise that as a man, her husband hadn’t gone to find pleasure with another woman when he couldn’t touch her. It was obviously allowed in this time for men to do that, but even though Lucian had not made love to her since their marriage and had not even gone out to find pleasure outside astonished her. He would rather hold and touch her than risk her life to make love to her. But she really didn’t think she could keep on going like this. It was torture on its own.

"Lucian," she breathed his name softly to gain his attention. He hummed softly but didn’t stop his hand movements inside her blouse. She liked what he was doing, but she needed to stop him to be able to concentrate. She placed her hand against his moving hand inside her blouse to stop him. "We need to talk," she said as she moved back to meet his eyes.

He looked at her with a teasing smile playing on his face. "About what, love?"

"About your marriage to Princess Nina," she replied and watched as the playful look fell away from his face, his hand slipping out of her blouse.

"How did you know about it?" he asked her, his brows drawing together as he was certain she wasn’t supposed to know when the maids who gossiped about it didn’t speak the language she understood.

"It doesn’t matter how I know. I heard they would be sending us away because you refused to marry their Princess. Why didn’t you tell me about it?" she asked calmly, gauging his expression.

"Because it’s something that will never happen. I am not interested in marrying another woman for the sake of having an heir," he said with a dismissive tone as he stood to his feet after Ave had gotten off his lap. "I will talk to them again tomorrow and try to change their minds," he told her as he made his way to their bed, with Ave following closely behind him.

"What if they don’t change their minds? Do we have another way of winning back the throne of the Empire without them?" she asked.

He cursed under his breath as he had a feeling where she was taking this conversation. "We will find a way," he said, knowing there was no other way but also praying to anything that was holy that she would drop the topic and not tell him to take another wife because he didn’t know how he’d react if those words he hated to hear came out of her mouth.

"Even if we find another way, don’t you think as a ruler you’d need to have an heir to carry on your name?" she questioned again.

He stopped at the bedside and turned to face her. "Aveline, I am not taking another wife if that’s what you’re getting at," he told her calmly, with an angry vein throbbing on his forehead.

"I never said you should." Ave smiled at him as she reached her hand to the back of her skirt to begin to loosen the string.

"Then why are we having this conversation?" he asked, a bit taken aback by her smile and sparkling eyes as she stared at him. What was she up to?

"Because we need to make an heir for the Nazias to agree to support you. It takes two people to make a child, so I think we should start tonight. Why take another wife to give you an heir when you have me?" she said with a smile as both her skirt and blouse fell off her body and she stood before him wearing nothing, as she’d prepared for this beforehand.

Lucian started to say something in protest of her words, but then, when her clothes fell off her body and she stood right before him with a flushed face, naked, the sight of her nude body made him forget for a moment just what he wanted to say to her. Despite himself, his eyes trailed her glorious figure, square shoulders, rounded ripe breasts, slim waist, and curvy hips, milky long legs that made his hands ache to touch and run his fingers across. Lucian felt his blood heat up, his loins clench, and harden at the sight before him. freewebnoveℓ.com

For a moment, he forgot how to speak as he watched his wife in front of him. She was shy from the blush and the look in her eyes, but she didn’t attempt to cover herself even as he looked at her. She walked up to him and reached out to loosen his robe belt, but he hurriedly snapped back to his senses and stopped her.

"We can’t," he rasped deeply, his shaky voice betraying how much he wanted her, but he had to restrain himself before he’d regret it.

Ave had thought about what she had to do the whole day, and she had realized how she didn’t want to share her husband with another. She believed she was meant for him and that nothing would happen if he were to take her to bed, and if something were to happen, she’d die happy knowing he had made love to her rather than live a long life without ever knowing what it was like to be touched by him. It might be selfish because she knew if something were to happen to her, Lucian would live his life in regret, but God help her, it was more than she could handle to live this life with him going to another woman’s bed every night.

She was willing to risk her life to know if she was his lost mate or not. Only his mate or a were-woman could survive, and since she was no were-person, if she survived, it meant she was his lost mate. The only problem now was that her husband was now turning away from her.

"Wear something before I end up doing something I’ll regret," he said with a pleading voice as he turned to leave the room, but Ave reached out and hugged him from behind. She tightened her arms around his midsection and used her hand to loosen his belt knotted at the front, but before she could pull at his robe, he clasped her hand.

"Please, Aveline. We can’t. I can’t. I don’t want to hurt you. Don’t let me hurt you again," he breathed unsteadily, as he could barely control himself with her naked body pressed to his back and her hand about to loosen his robe.

"But I want you. I need you too. I can’t live on like this without you touching me in bed, Lucian. Come to bed with me. I want you to make love to me tonight," she whispered against his back, her voice sultry, filled with desires that made his pulse hammer.
