Chapter 178: Breathed Her Last.

"It’s not working." Liu Yi said as she sat upright on her bed.

She has tried to go back to sleep the same way she had done when she entered the novel but it wasn’t working.

What should she do now? Liu Yi thought, when she suddenly heard her phone ringing, she looked at the phone and saw that it was her aunt calling.

She answered the call saying "Hello."

"How was your exam today?"

Liu Yi rolled her eyes and laid back on her bed saying "It was fine."

"That’s good. You do know what will happen if you were to fail this time around. I will cut you off, which means no more allowance, perhaps starving for a month will be more effective in bringing you back to your senses."

"Are you done? I’m quite busy at the moment." Liu Yi said arrogantly.

Liu Yi’s aunt scoffed and said, "I need you at the store by six."

"I will be at the store by six." Liu Yi replied and hung up the phone.

She let out a deep sigh and checked the time on her phone, only to see that it was twenty minutes to six. Just how long has she been trying to get back? Is she forever stuck in this world?

Liu Yi’s heart felt pained when she thought of it. The thought that she may never get to see her children again made her heart ache to the point that it physically hurt.

Liu Yi got up from her bed and put on a sweater because of the cold before taking a cab to her aunt’s store.

The convenience store was one of her aunt’s many stores and the only reason Liu Yi agreed to work here was because this store was owned by both her mother and aunt. Wanting to feel closer to her mother whom she never got the chance to meet, Liu Yi decided to work here.

Liu Yi stayed at the store till 10 pm and decided to lock up, she knew she didn’t have much money to take a cab back to her apartment so she decided to just walk there, after all, it would only take twenty-five minutes if she walked and the night fresh air will be good for her.

As Liu Yi began walking to her apartment, she saw a little boy running to the middle of the road to pick up his ball.

Liu Yi immediately looked at the traffic light and sighed in relief when she saw that it was red, she smiled as she saw a smile on the little boy’s face when he picked up his ball, it made her remember Fu Liang.

She wondered how he was doing? she hoped his body accepted her liver and there would be no future complications.

At this moment, Liu Yi closed her eyes and prayed in her heart that her little boy would be able to live a normal and happy life. Immediately she opened her eyes, her smile left her face as she saw a car speedily approaching the little boy and instead of running, the child just stood rooted to the ground, probably in shock.

Without thinking, Liu Yi rushed to the boy and pushed him out of the way, and in the blink of an eye, the car hit Liu Yi so hard that she fell to the floor with blood spewing out of her mouth.

Liu Yi could hear voices and people gathering but the young girl felt no pain in her body, instead her eyes watched the moon as it slowly hid in the cloud and when she could see the moon no more, she breathed her last.

....

"How is she?" Fu Mingze asked anxiously. Words could not describe how frightened he was when Yang Meiyi’s temperature skyrocketed. It was as if all the doctor’s efforts in calming down her temperature weren’t working, even Doctor Fei had asked him to prepare for the worst but he had always believed that his Meiyi would be able to make it.

"Her temperature has gone back to normal and if luck is on our side then Mrs Fu will be awake within 24 hours." The doctor said with a smile. Even he was surprised by the way Fu Mingze’s’s wife temperature suddenly reduced on its own. Perhaps, it wasn’t her time to go yet.

After telling Fu Mingze that he would be back to check up on her, he left the ward.

"Thank you for fighting to come back to me." Fu Mingze whispered and leaned forward to give her an affectionate kiss on her forehead.

Yang Meiyi suddenly groaned softly and wanted to open her eyes but could not because of the immense pain she was feeling in her head. She could hear the beeping machine and with that, she could tell that she was in a hospital. Did she survive the car accident? And why does her head hurt so much?

"Luqi?" Fu Mingze called out softly.

Luqi? Did someone just call her Luqi? And why does it sound like her Fu Mingze’s voice? Could it be that she has returned to Yang Meiyi’s body? The thought of that brought immense joy to her heart and regardless of the pain she was feeling, she slowly opened her eyes, and true to her thought she saw Fu Mingze looking at her with eyes filled with love and affection.

Yang Meiyi wanted to speak but no matter how hard she tried, no words could leave her mouth. The only way she could express herself was the tears that left her eyes.

Fu Mingze cleaned her tears as he said "There is no need to cry, you are all right. You came back to me and you are never allowed to leave me, do you understand?"

Yang Meiyi smiled softly and with all her strength she whispered "Mingze, I’m so sorry I forgot you."

It took Fu Mingze seconds to understand the meaning of her words and when the realization of what her words met dawned on him, his eyes suddenly became teary and it was as if his soul became lighter.

Fu Mingze smiled softly as he said "Meiyi, a day has never gone by when I didn’t remember you for us. Even when I thought you were dead, not once, did I stop loving you. You shouldn’t apologize for forgetting about me, I’m just grateful you came back to me."

"I will always come back to you, Mingze."
