"I’m tired of eating soft food, I need something like a hamburger or pizza or some chicken nuggets." Yang Meiyi complained as Sang Xiu placed a plate of porridge in front of her. She looked at Fu Mingze who was just looking at her with a smile and shook his head indicating he won’t get involved in the banter between mother and daughter.

"Your love for pizza, hamburgers, and chicken nuggets needs to be on hold at the moment. The doctor has said you only need to eat soft food." Sang Xiu said.

"It’s my own body and I am saying I need to eat some meat. My body is tired of taking in soft food and is craving meat Mother." Yang Meiyi said.

Sang Xiu turned to Fu Mingze and said "Can you please talk to her, lately, she only listens to you. Make sure she finishes her food and tell her she can’t eat meat."

Fu Mingze smiled and said, "I will try."

Sang Xiu sighed and said "I have to go, your grandpa hasn’t been feeling well lately, I need to look after him as well. I feel like I’m looking after two children."

"Bye, mom." Yang Meiyi said with a smile.

Sang Xiu just shook her head and left.

After Sang Xiu left, Fu Mingze walked forward and sat beside her "Your mom is right, the doctor hasn’t approved you eating any other food apart from soft food."

"But I can’t eat them anymore."

Fu Mingze smiled and said, "What about this, you eat this now and then I will get you a hamburger in the evening."

"Really?" Yang Meiyi asked in excitement.

Fu Mingze chuckled and nodded. Just then there was a knock on the door, after getting permission to enter, Bai Jian entered and said with a smile "You look better."

"Young master Bai!" Yang Meiyi said in surprise.

Bai Jian smiled and said, "You can just call me Bai Jian."

Yang Meiyi smiled and said, "Thank you for saving my life." She survived only because of Bai Jian. The only reason the real Meiyi did not survive was because no one was looking after her, neither Fu Mingze nor Bai Jian existed in the real Meiyi’s life but she was different, with these two powerful men by her side, she will never be hurt.

"You are going to be my sister-in-law very soon, so no need to say thank you."

"Now that the same blood flows through our veins then can I call you brother Bai, I always wanted to know how it feels like to have a big brother."

Bai Jian smiled proudly and said, "Of course, you should call me Brother Bai." He looked at Fu Mingze and said "It looks like you won’t only be my brother but also my brother-in-law."

Yang Meiyi laughed softly at Bai Jian statement when the door suddenly opened revealing a very distressed Zhang Chun.

"Meiyi?" Zhang Chun called out softly

"Zhang Chun?" It’s been five days since she woke up and apart from her mom, dad, and Fu Mingze no one else has visited her until Bai Jian who came today. To be honest, she had wondered if Zhang Chun knew of her accident but her mother had told her that she told aunt Zhang about it after she woke up, which means Zhang Chun must have known about it. She felt bad that he never visited her but seeing him right now, looking sleep deprived made her wonder if perhaps something else was going on with him.

"Can I come in?" Zhang Chun asked softly.

"Of course you can." Yang Meiyi said.

Zhang Chun let out a soft smile at her reply and came in, he looked at both Fu Mingze and Bai Jian and asked "Can I speak to you alone?"

"Huh..." Yang Meiyi looked at Fu Mingze and saw a look of displeasure in his eyes, she was about to refuse when Bai Jian said "Mingze, we need to go over the Du contract before signing a business deal with them."

Fu Mingze looked at Bai Jian and sighed, he stood up as he said "I will be gone for a few minutes."

Yang Meiyi nodded and watched as he turned to leave when he suddenly turned back and pressed his lips to hers, she smiled when he kissed her and closed her eyes but within seconds he separated from her and left without even glancing at Zhang Chun.

After he left, Zhang Chun scoffed and said "Was he trying to mark his territory or something? I can’t believe you are involved with the jealous type."

"If you came here to talk bad about my Fu Mingze then you can as well leave." Yang Meiyi said with a frown.

"Leave? You want me to leave? I haven’t slept for days thinking that all this happened because of me. That it was all my fault and even till now, I can’t face aunt Sang Xiu knowing I almost got her daughter killed."

Yang Meiyi looked at Zhang Chun in surprise and finally asked "Why? Why do you think it’s your fault? You weren’t the one who drank, I did, you weren’t the one driving carelessly, I was, so why are you blaming yourself?"

"Because if I had insisted on driving you home then perhaps you would never have gotten involved in an accident. If I didn’t hold that birthday party then you never would have been out by that time. I don’t think I would ever have forgiven myself if you hadn’t made it." Zhang Chun said as his eyes got teary, damn it! Was he about to cry?

Zhang Chun moved closer to her and was surprised when she patted his head gently and said "It wasn’t your fault, even if time were to reverse, I would still have gone to your birthday party to give you your present and to wish you a happy birthday. You and Ma Xin are my best friends, never forget that."

Zhang Chun removed her head from his hair and said "I can’t believe you just friend zone me."

Yang Meiyi smiled and shrugged softly as she said "Did I,? I didn’t notice."

Zhang Chun scoffed at her action and tried his best to withhold his smile. He didn’t care if he was friend zone or not, he was just glad that she was alive and happy.
