The graduation ceremony was about to commence and although she could see Fu Mingze at the back, Yang Meiyi couldn’t find her mother. Even her dad was here but her mother wasn’t, she tried to call but it always went straight to voicemail and her father told her not to worry too much, that her mother wouldn’t miss her graduation ceremony for the world.

As the ceremony commenced, the top three best students from each department was announced and Meiyi was called out as the third best in her department, she walked out with a smile and was given a bouquet of yellow rose. Yang Meiyi looked at Fu Mingze with a smile and was given the mic to say a few words.

"Hmm.... If there is one person I would want to thank the most, it would be my Fiance, Fu Mingze. If it was just me, I don’t think I would be standing here right now, he has always pushed me to study and ensured I understood each of my courses. Thank you and I love you. Congrats to us all for surviving these four years of torture... I mean school."

The crowd laughed softly and clapped after Yang Meiyi’s speech.

Fu Mingze clapped along with the crowd and smiled at her, although they had been married for three years but he finds himself falling more in love with her each day. He couldn’t wait to give her a huge wedding, one the world will remember even for years to come.

Yang Meiyi glanced at her father who had a deep frown on his face while looking at his phone. She didn’t know why but she felt extremely uncomfortable when she saw that frown on his face. Could something have happened to Grandpa? Maybe that’s why mother isn’t here.

After the graduation ceremony ended, Yang Meiyi immediately ran to her father and asked "Have you heard anything about mom? It’s weird that she will miss my graduation ceremony."

Yang Jiu looked at his daughter and said "We need to leave for the hospital now."

"Why? What happened? Did something happened to grandpa Sang again?

"Your mom has been involved in a hit-and-run accident, we need to leave now!"

"What.... Is she okay?"

Fu Mingze who was talking to one of the board members of Suwei University glanced at Yang Meiyi and frowned when he saw fear in her eyes, just what was her dad telling her? He looked at the man he was talking to and asked "Can we speak later about this?"

"Of course Mr. Fu, I will be waiting to hear from you."

Fu Mingze nodded and looked back at where he saw Yang Meiyi and Yang Jiu but they were no longer there. He was about to go look for them when Xia Lian approached him and said in a low voice that was audible to just the both of them "Mrs Fu has gone to the hospital with her father."

"Hospital? But why? Is grandpa Sang sick again?" Fu Mingze asked with a frown.

Xia Lian shook his head and said "Mrs. Yang was involved in a hit-and-run accident and to be honest, her chances of survival are looking very low."

"What?"

Yang Meiyi botted out of the car when they arrived at the hospital, she immediately went to the receptionist and asked "Where is the patient named Sang Xiu?"

The receptionist first looked at her before looking at the computer and said "The patient is still in surgery, you can take a right turn to find the ER."

Yang Meiyi ran to the ER and saw a nurse coming out, she immediately held her hand and said "Is my mom alright?"

The nurse looked at her with sympathy and said "You have to wait for the doctor, only he can tell you her condition."

As the nurse removed her hold from her hand, Yang Meiyi was about to grab her again when she heard a familiar voice "Meiyi."

Yang Meiyi turned to look at Fu Mingze and ran to embrace him, she hugged him tightly and suddenly burst into tears. "I’m scared Mingze, I’m so scared of losing her."

"Shhh.... nothing like that will happen. Aunt Sang is one of the strongest women I know and I’m sure she is going to be alright." Fu Mingze whispered as he hugged her and kissed her hair.

Rather than replying, Yang Meiyi just kept crying and didn’t let go of him until the door to the ER opened and the doctor came out.

Yang Meiyi immediately broke their hug and asked "My mom is ok, right?"

The doctor looked at Yang MeMeiyi’s eyes and then at Fu Mingze cold gaze, the man shook his head in sympathy as he said "I’m sorry, we tried all we could but it was already too late."

"What.....what does that mean?" Yang Meiyi asked shakily.

"The patient didn’t survive, I’m so sorry."

Gu Zhen opened the door to an apartment and when he saw no one in the living room, he said with a loud voice "I hope you are not playing a prank with me Yang Jia, I’m really busy." He heard a noise in the room and went there and then he could hear the sound of a shower, he knocked continuously and when she did not answer, he decided to open the door.

Gu Zhen was shocked when he saw Yang Jia sitting on the floor of her bathroom with blood stains on her clothes. He immediately bent down to her level and grabbed her arm as he asked "What happened? Why do you have blood on your clothes Yang Jia?"

When she did not say anything he shouted "Answer me!"

Yang Jia suddenly burst into tears and said "I wasn’t in my right mind Gu Zhen. I didn’t do it intentionally, I promise."

"What didn’t you do intentionally?" Gu Zhen asked

"I swear it wasn’t intentional." Yang Jia said as more tears left her eyes.

Gu Zhen held her face gently and asked more calmly "What did you do?"

"I ran her over. I didn’t know what I was thinking, there was just too much rage and hatred when I saw her and before I knew it I had already hit her with my car. What do I do now, I’m scared Gu Zhen. I don’t want to go to jail."

"Calm down Jia. Now tell me, who did you run over? Who did you hit?"

More tears left Yang Jia’s eyes as she whispered "Sang Xiu."

"You ran over Sang Xiu?" Gu Zhen asked coldly as he tightened his hold on her arm.

Yang Jia nodded choking on her tears.

Gu Zhen suddenly release her, he ran his hand through his hair and cursed "Shit!"

After pacing back and front for a moment, Gu Zhen looked back at her with a straight face and said "Was there any witness?"
