Transmigration; Married to My Ex-Fiancé's Uncle-Chapter 264; Lu Yuze 16
"They can wait a little longer." She leaned in closer, her body pressing against his. "We’re not finished here."
"Aren’t we?" His hands came to rest on her waist, but he made no move to push her away or pull her closer. Just held her there, waiting to see what she would do.
"Not even close." Her lips found his neck, trailing kisses along the same path he’d taken on her moments before. "You started this, Lu Yuze. You don’t get to walk away now."
"Is that so?" His voice was steady, but she could feel his pulse quickening beneath her lips.
"That’s so." Her hands moved to his shirt, fingers working at the buttons with deliberate intent. "Let’s see how you like being teased."
She kissed him then, deep and demanding, pouring all her frustration into it. Her hands roamed freely, learning the planes of his chest, the muscles of his shoulders, the warmth of his skin as she pushed the fabric aside.
For a moment, he responded in kind, his hands tightening on her waist, his mouth meeting hers with equal intensity.
Then, just as she thought she was finally getting somewhere, he gently but firmly took hold of her wrists and stopped her.
"Shuyin," he said quietly, his breathing slightly labored but his control still maddeningly intact.
"Don’t you dare," she warned, reading his intention.
But he just smiled, that same enigmatic, infuriating smile, and carefully removed her hands from his chest. "The children are waiting."
"I don’t care about..."
He kissed her once more, thoroughly enough to make her forget what she was saying, then gently but inexorably moved her aside.
"We’ll continue this later," he promised, straightening his clothing as if nothing had happened.
She stared at him, torn between admiration and fury. "You’re doing this on purpose."
"Am I?" He was already buttoning his shirt back up, his expression perfectly composed.
"You know you are." She crossed her arms, watching him with narrowed eyes. "What game are you playing, Lu Yuze?"
"Who says I’m playing a game?" He moved toward the door again, and this time she didn’t stop him. "Perhaps I simply think some things are worth waiting for."
"You’re impossible."
"So I’ve been told." He paused at the door, glancing back at her. "Are you coming? Or should I tell the children you need a few more minutes to compose yourself?"
She glared at him, but he just smiled and opened the door, stepping out into the hallway.
Shuyin remained where she was for a moment, processing what had just happened.
Thrice now. Thrice in one evening he’d brought her to the edge and simply... stopped. And he looked entirely too satisfied with himself about it.
Well, two could play this game.
She refastened her top with quick, efficient movements and smoothed her hair, already planning her next move.
If Lu Yuze wanted to tease her, to push and pull and keep her wanting, she would return the favor tenfold. She would make him ache for her, make him desperate, until he finally gave in and explained exactly what he was waiting for.
And she had magic on her side.
A slow, dangerous smile curved her lips as she straightened her clothing and headed for the door.
Oh yes. This was far from over.
Lu Yuze was already in the hallway when she emerged, waiting for her with that same calm, collected expression.
"Ready?" he asked, as if they’d simply been having a normal conversation in his study.
"Oh, I’m ready," she replied sweetly, taking his offered arm. "More ready than you know."
Something flickered in his eyes, anticipation, perhaps, or a hint of wariness.
Good. Let him wonder.
Together, they walked toward the dining room, the air between them still charged with unresolved tension.
But before he could turn the corner, Shuyin paused. "Your meeting."
Lu Yuze glanced back at the study room, then at the screens still displaying the frozen faces of his business associates. "Ah. Right."
He returned to the desk, and with a few quick keystrokes, sent a brief message: Apologies. Family matters required immediate attention. Will resume tomorrow.
Then he properly ended the call, the screens going dark.
When he turned back to Shuyin, she was watching him with an unreadable expression.
"What?" he asked.
"Nothing." She smiled slightly. "Just thinking about how much trouble you’re in when we get back upstairs later."
"Am I?"
"Oh yes." Her smile widened. "You absolutely are."
He laughed softly, offering her his arm again. "I look forward to it."
"You won’t."
"We’ll see."
They walked into the dining room to find Chen Xiao and Yuyan already seated, plates set at every position around the table.
Apart from the children, Ah Ling and Ah Ying were also seated, looking more like part of the family than employees. At a closer glance, Shuyin could tell they were twins, around twenty-two years old, with the same sharp features and controlled bearing.
She recognized Ah Ling. He’d been present when Lu Yuze came to negotiate with her in prison.
The maids and butler moved efficiently around the table, ensuring everything was properly served.
"Good evening, Master. Mistress," Ah Ying and Ah Ling greeted them in unison as they entered, their voices respectful and measured.
"Good evening," Shuyin replied, studying them briefly as she and Lu Yuze took their seats.
Ah Ying and Ah Ling exchanged a brief glance. Seeing the two emerge together from the study room, they understood perfectly why Yuyan had warned them earlier. They’d already interrupted the Master once this evening and escaped punishment, a second interruption would not have been forgiven.
"Daddy... Mommy... We thought you weren’t coming out of that study room any time soon," Yuyan said with a slight pout, immediately reaching for Shuyin’s arm and clinging to her intimately.
Lu Yuze observed the interaction quietly. Yuyan truly liked Shuyin, that much was clear. The way she sought her stepmother’s attention, the way she clung to her... she was starved for maternal affection.
